    My biggest game changer: Triple cleansing (clarifying shampoo, strengthening shampoo, moisturizing shampoo). My curls pop & are dark & lustrous before deep conditioning. Second biggest game changer: Ignoring most assertions about high porosity hair. It's clear that these assertions are regurgitations made by people who don't have, know, or understand hi-po hair.

      Do you triple cleanse every wash day?

    • @Yougotthis1212
      @Yougotthis1212 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do the same! Every wash and detangle with the moisturizing shampoo in the shower

    11 years natural
    Biggest game changer- adding a conditioner with silicones back into my routine. I have very curly fine hair that tangles easily, so I need cones!

    My game changer has been applying heat via a heat cap after putting on my leave in conditioner. Having salt and pepper and now low porosity hair allows that 10 minutes of low heat to prep my hair for other products so well.

    Biggest game changer oiling my ends every two days, helped with length retention and single strand knots

  • @ChicaRho
    @ChicaRho ปีที่แล้ว +7

    My game changers have been 1) leaving twist-outs behind and pivoting to smaller two-strand twists as my every-day style; 2) using fewer products by letting go of the tendency to try that "new thing"; SO HARD but it's done wonders for my length and thickness; and 3) using Narada's detangling technique with that clutch Denman D38 - saves time AND hair!

      Yes to all three of these!

  • @CoilyCode

    My game changers: closing my eyes and handling my hair like it’s delicate silk. I never realized how much unnecessary breakage I suffered from being too rough lol and (2) protein treatments every 6 weeks!

    You made a good point about not going quaterly now that your hair is healthy because there's there are so many videos now about trimming on IG and the stylists & influencers never account for the fact that different parts of our heads grow at different rates. They always call it damaged hair when it's just uneven. (it doesn't make sense to me in that case to even it when straight instead of curly if thats how you usually wear it)

      @miniminott48 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      LilBabyChou, also shed hair that is growing in would be shorter than the rest of the hair.

    • @MT-yx5cu
      @MT-yx5cu ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is ridiculous how they call all uneven hair "split ends" without even examining the actual ends lol

    I’d say that my hooded dryer and the Ouidad were definitely game changers. In two years my hair went from ear length to clavicle length because of the kind of care that I could do with my hooded dryer and the repair I was doing with the Ouidad(rip😢 gone but never forgotten). I’m in process of experience the trimming regularly game changer but it’s already looking very very promising. I got 3 inches cut in March and I’m already almost gained all of those inches back (which is WILD to me).

    • @Neesha242
      @Neesha242 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea a hooded dryer with a good deep conditioner does wonders for my hair. I tried a heating cap and it didn’t work like the hooded dryer. It’s really repairing my dry frizzing hair

    I think my biggest game changer for me is not over detangling and just keeping my hair out of my head until wash day. My ex threw away my Felecia Leatherwood, so I got the Kazmalaje. That's a game changer too. Plus it doesn't break when I throw it at him.🤣

    Minus nine months, I've been natural all my life. My biggest game-changer was installing a showerhead filter. I never thought I would consider buying a Dyson, but now that I can no longer use a hooded dryer I've thought about it. As long as my current diffuser works I probably won't take the plunge but it could be a future game changer.

    Saturating my hair with water before cleansing is a game changer for me as well. I’ve also let my hair ‘set’ for an hour after I applied products for a wash and go. Great video!

    Using ACV and prepoo is a game changer for me. I have noticed less sheading. I also wash my hair weekly and change my scarf also weekly.

    My Game changers: pre-po with fresh Aloe Vera, wash it once a week, Protein treatments once a month. Deep conditioner every wash day. Do what works for my hair, not what's popular at the moment.

    I have seen the most growth in my hair after not going to a hair stylist for about a year now. I mainly wear twist and afros and just now recently getting into twisouts(thanks to you lol). Def not a professional but must be doing something right.

    Another game changer for me, drinking tons of water and curl Smith hair vitamins. I know people say that they don't matter but they've definitely made a huge difference in my hair!!!!

    I been natural for 2.5 years. I haven't done many wash and goes so, a goal for me is mastering my wash and go's this summer. For the last 3 weeks I have been experimenting with various gels paired with this and that . A few times failed wash and go's but I tried Mousse paired with a gel a game changer for sure . I even set under my hooded dryer and diffused 😀

    I will start by saying I am 33 years old, I have been on and off natural hair since 16. What really worked for me in my initial hair journey was consistent weekly washing, a blow out and then a twist out. Products I used were regular shampoo and conditioner, whatever was available and hair food. I kept this up from 16-21 then relaxed, during this time I never experienced major tangles or single stand knots. I have once again been natural again since 2017, my biggest mistake was fearing the following; hairfood, heat and leaving my hair too long between washes, I never experienced single stand knots when I blew out my hair. So for me personally I’m back on heat, disclaimer, I have corse hair ( thicker stands) so my hair is stronger to withstand basic heat without doing too much. Basically I’m back to basics and I shed less to cause not sure how I convinced myself that longer periods between washes was ok. I forgot to mention combs are now my bestie

    Two things have changed for me when I do a wash-n-go: 1) not applying a leave-in; 2) applying my stylers to very wet hair, unless I am using a foam.

    I’ve only been to the barber for cuts and to the Africans to get my hair braided.
    My Biggest Game Changer - Starting a new regimen using Olaplex 3 4 5/Nizoral (Treatment), The Doux Mos Def and Big Poppa (Styling) and making my own Ayurvedic Oils/Tea Spritz’s.

    I am really happy to have found your channel. I love your straight up style. Thanks so much for sharing.
    I have 3b curly hair and Ive been natural for almost 20 years. I have mostly done wash n gos for that entire period but now that I am getting more greys and my hair seems to be more brittle and dry the game changer has been less frequent washings (now about once a week) and, of course, I must prepoo. This has really helped to keep moisture from day 1 to day 7.

    I really enjoyed your game changers. Some of mine are similar to yours specifically when it comes to trimming my hair. My hair definitely flourishes after a good trim or cut. I don't do it as often now because my hair is pretty healthy. Also another game changer for me is as you said allowing your hair to be fully saturated for at least 5 minutes before going in with shampoo. Thanks for all the tips 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

    My hair has been stagnant for the last years because of SSKs. It grows but I keep having to trim inches because of knots and split ends, however I can't get myself to go to the salon (I live in Europe and not many options). I know i need to go ahead and just cut a lot to start fresh.

    There’s been so much talk abt oil vs no oil when really it should be just cleanse your hair!! Use oil if ya want, esp because it has so much cultural significance to a lot of folks, but you have got to use real shampoo, especially if you’re using heavy oils like castor or coconut.

    My biggest game changer ever is discovering iamblackgirlcurls. The education they give and the simplicity of the routine has made my hair flourish for the first time since I went natural in 2017.
