Wow! So many “little” things that keep popping up. You’re a patient man. Yes, drum brakes can really be a pain to work on. Did the idle RPMs lower following the carb sinc? Looking forward to seeing the first drive!
Your brake shoes are backwards according to John Twist
It may be a perspective as to where the front of the car is but the brake pads are installed in the correct orientation.
