Shame to the record-companies who in that time only were interested in Callas and Tebaldi. Two fine singers, oké, but they egnored the other great singers, such as this fantastic Virzinea Zeani, the great Magda Olivero and the onforgettable Leyla Gencer. In the 50 en 60-years we have missed a lot of great music. Now we can enjoy it, thanks to the live-recordings an you tube. I agree with you completely. I mean, I admire Callas and Tebaldi greatly, but it is such a shame that they ignored so many other outstanding artists: Virginia Zeani, Magda Olivero and Leyla Gencer, as you said. However, when it comes to tenors, although Corelli is my favourite tenor, I would add Bruno Prevedi to the list of underestimated artists who was given the opportunity to record so rarely.
