Another Japanese band, another chance for me to suggest Unlucky Morpheus, a melodious and extremely talented Japanese power metal band. Some songs worth listening to are "Cadaver/Revadac" (a 9 minute masterpiece that is two songs, but with a catch: both are the same music score, but once played normally and then played in reverse), "Black Pentagram" (a more aggressive song), "Imagimak" (especially the acoustic live version), and "Vampire" (a cover of a song by Yousei Teikoku that surpasses the original). :)

I love this song so much. I have been listening to this for at least 4 years. The two different voice-types are great and I really appreciate the instrumentation. The funny thing is that lyrically this song is kinda like "Down Under" by Men at Work, though we are distracted by the fact that a viking is playing the part of a Japanese idol. 😀 If you would like to see people closer to your ages play rock music, I recommend the Japanese band Ningen Isu (which translates as "human chair" if I recall correctly); their song "Heartless Scat" was my introduction and is an excellent example of musicianship as well as being fun to watch a bunch of old Japanese men play metal.
I absolutely LOVE Ladybaby! The concept is so out there I'm not sure where "there" even is. How a group consisting of Ladybeard, an Australian professional wrestler, Red and Tie, two teenage models (please don't google at work...) playing super electronic pop-metal somehow manages to get a pretty big international hit. They did their first live shows in LA, NY and London before even getting on stage in Japan. Bonkers! When Ladybeard left (because of VISA reasons I've been told) Rie and Red continued as The Band Formerly Known as Ladybaby and released a few really good songs. Rei left a couple of years later to focus on her other band, Brats (which is awesome!) and Rie continued as Ladybaby with three new members. They continued doing great stuff until they went on indefinite hiatus in January 2020. How a band like this managed to exist for almost 7 years and continuously kept on releasing good music in mind bending in the best way possible.

I saw them live in germany once a few years ago. It was super chaotic, nothing worked like it was supposed to, even one of the girls couldn't be there and many people were upset. But Ladybeard is such a great guy that I still enjoyed it a lot 😁
Lady beard(the guy vocalist) is a pro wrestler, metal singer and is also a fairly accomplished martial artist so the glow stick scene they just gave him glow in the dark nunchucks and let him do what he knows.
I dont know how Japanese girls do these voices, because they were like 16-18 or something there. Its some sort of tecnique to make it squaky to the max
I'm not comparing their music to Babymetal, but like babymetal I can't think of a single bad song by Ladybaby. But if you're checking out more of them, stick to the music videos. These girls aren't as physically capable as Babymetal, so during their live performances they do tend to get a bit winded, which naturally affects their singing quality. My two favourite songs by Ladybaby are C'est si bon Kibun and Easter Bunny, but like I said, I don't think they have any actually bad songs. EDIT: And Kaneko Rie, the girl in blue in this video, has a couple of solo songs as TrollEatTroll, the songs are called Lost and Blues, which are both extremely heartwrenching and extremely good.

Nice video! This song is just like a promotional song/video about Japan. It is also rumored that this song was supposed to be used in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The guy in the middle is a member of the group. He is Richard Magerey also known as Ladybeard. He is an Australian wrestler. Yes, you read that right, a wrestler. The other two girls are Rie Kaneko and Rei Kuromiya. Unfortunately, Ladybeard left in 2016 due to visa issues. He formed another group with a female wrestler Reika Saiki named "Deadlift Lolita". From what I read, and I'm not sure yet, he also left the group and is now in an another group (don't know the name yet). After Ladybeard left LADYBABY, the two other girls rebranded the group as The Idol Formerly Known as LADYBABY. They keep making music even though the iconic member of them left and keep the group going. Sadly, in 2017, Rei Kuromiya left the group due to health issues, specifically throat problems. She is now with a band with her sister Aya Kuromiya called "BRATS", a rock band. They produce really good music that you might want to check (especially from their latest album "KARMA"). After her departure, they recruited three new members to keep the group going. The additional members are Emily Arima (growls/vocals), Nan Ikeda (rap/vocals), and Fuka Karasawa (vocals). The 4 member group created some real banger music that you might also want to listen. But unfortunately, in 2019, they disbanded. One of the reasons is that Fuka has to study for her college. However, Emily has her own projects now, she released songs recently. Namely, "sorrowful thread" and her project "SHADES - Isolation". She also occasionally post some vocal covers of metal songs in her channel. You also mentioned BABYMETAL in this video. No wonder because LADYBABY is also a kawaii metal band. In fact, it is probably among the (unofficial) big 4 of kawaii metal. The big 4 is BABYMETAL, LADYBABY, PassCode, and DESURABBITS. The band was formed in 2014 just to advertise a costume store. However, because their debut single, Nippon Manju got trending, they continued to create music. There are also other songs where it contains the original trio (Ladybeard, Rie, Rei). If you're looking for an another song, I recommend you their song Renge Chance. Keep rocking grannies!
They have a few more songs in this configuration :) Rei the younger black haired girl (14 in this video) went on to start her own band BRATS with other girl musicians.. it's excellent and I recommend you check them out. The band management didn't understand why this song was so viral and forced out LADYBEARD (the 5 year old bearded girl) from LADYBABY.. he formed the short-lived Wanchanz then later Deadlift Lolita with a female wrestler. Rei the girl with the browner hair (17 in this vid) stuck with LADYBABY.. and they got more girls to join.. including one who could growl for songs like this. They went on hiatus at the start of this year (good timing really, with the pandemic!) but uploaded a bunch of videos from their last concert :) The guy who played the solo in this song is the famous guitarist ROLLY. This song is a blast, and is all about encouraging people to come to Japan and enjoy themselves.. should have been the song for the Tokyo Olympics hehe.. glad you finally got to it :) Maybe try some Death Rabbits!! They started around a similar time as LADYBABY.. bands inspired by BABYMETAL \m/

The guy is Ladybeard and he has his own group now. He is from Australia and was and may still be a Wrestler. The current LadyBaby comprises of four girls in their twenties. Plenty of videos to choose from. There is a similar Japanese Girl Group called Desurabbits or Deathrabbits. They feature their manager in a helmet, mask and costume similar to Darth Vader.

The funny thing is that lyrically this song is kinda like "Down Under" by Men at Work, though we are distracted by the fact that a viking is playing the part of a Japanese idol. 😀
If you would like to see people closer to your ages play rock music, I recommend the Japanese band Ningen Isu (which translates as "human chair" if I recall correctly); their song "Heartless Scat" was my introduction and is an excellent example of musicianship as well as being fun to watch a bunch of old Japanese men play metal.

I absolutely LOVE Ladybaby! The concept is so out there I'm not sure where "there" even is. How a group consisting of Ladybeard, an Australian professional wrestler, Red and Tie, two teenage models (please don't google at work...) playing super electronic pop-metal somehow manages to get a pretty big international hit. They did their first live shows in LA, NY and London before even getting on stage in Japan. Bonkers! When Ladybeard left (because of VISA reasons I've been told) Rie and Red continued as The Band Formerly Known as Ladybaby and released a few really good songs. Rei left a couple of years later to focus on her other band, Brats (which is awesome!) and Rie continued as Ladybaby with three new members. They continued doing great stuff until they went on indefinite hiatus in January 2020. How a band like this managed to exist for almost 7 years and continuously kept on releasing good music in mind bending in the best way possible.

Lady beard(the guy vocalist) is a pro wrestler, metal singer and is also a fairly accomplished martial artist so the glow stick scene they just gave him glow in the dark nunchucks and let him do what he knows.

I'm not comparing their music to Babymetal, but like babymetal I can't think of a single bad song by Ladybaby. But if you're checking out more of them, stick to the music videos. These girls aren't as physically capable as Babymetal, so during their live performances they do tend to get a bit winded, which naturally affects their singing quality. My two favourite songs by Ladybaby are C'est si bon Kibun and Easter Bunny, but like I said, I don't think they have any actually bad songs.
EDIT: And Kaneko Rie, the girl in blue in this video, has a couple of solo songs as TrollEatTroll, the songs are called Lost and Blues, which are both extremely heartwrenching and extremely good.

Nice video! This song is just like a promotional song/video about Japan. It is also rumored that this song was supposed to be used in 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The guy in the middle is a member of the group. He is Richard Magerey also known as Ladybeard. He is an Australian wrestler. Yes, you read that right, a wrestler. The other two girls are Rie Kaneko and Rei Kuromiya. Unfortunately, Ladybeard left in 2016 due to visa issues. He formed another group with a female wrestler Reika Saiki named "Deadlift Lolita". From what I read, and I'm not sure yet, he also left the group and is now in an another group (don't know the name yet). After Ladybeard left LADYBABY, the two other girls rebranded the group as The Idol Formerly Known as LADYBABY. They keep making music even though the iconic member of them left and keep the group going. Sadly, in 2017, Rei Kuromiya left the group due to health issues, specifically throat problems. She is now with a band with her sister Aya Kuromiya called "BRATS", a rock band. They produce really good music that you might want to check (especially from their latest album "KARMA"). After her departure, they recruited three new members to keep the group going. The additional members are Emily Arima (growls/vocals), Nan Ikeda (rap/vocals), and Fuka Karasawa (vocals). The 4 member group created some real banger music that you might also want to listen. But unfortunately, in 2019, they disbanded. One of the reasons is that Fuka has to study for her college. However, Emily has her own projects now, she released songs recently. Namely, "sorrowful thread" and her project "SHADES - Isolation". She also occasionally post some vocal covers of metal songs in her channel.
You also mentioned BABYMETAL in this video. No wonder because LADYBABY is also a kawaii metal band. In fact, it is probably among the (unofficial) big 4 of kawaii metal. The big 4 is BABYMETAL, LADYBABY, PassCode, and DESURABBITS. The band was formed in 2014 just to advertise a costume store. However, because their debut single, Nippon Manju got trending, they continued to create music. There are also other songs where it contains the original trio (Ladybeard, Rie, Rei). If you're looking for an another song, I recommend you their song Renge Chance.

They have a few more songs in this configuration :) Rei the younger black haired girl (14 in this video) went on to start her own band BRATS with other girl musicians.. it's excellent and I recommend you check them out. The band management didn't understand why this song was so viral and forced out LADYBEARD (the 5 year old bearded girl) from LADYBABY.. he formed the short-lived Wanchanz then later Deadlift Lolita with a female wrestler. Rei the girl with the browner hair (17 in this vid) stuck with LADYBABY.. and they got more girls to join.. including one who could growl for songs like this. They went on hiatus at the start of this year (good timing really, with the pandemic!) but uploaded a bunch of videos from their last concert :)
The guy who played the solo in this song is the famous guitarist ROLLY. This song is a blast, and is all about encouraging people to come to Japan and enjoy themselves.. should have been the song for the Tokyo Olympics hehe.. glad you finally got to it :) Maybe try some Death Rabbits!! They started around a similar time as LADYBABY.. bands inspired by BABYMETAL \m/

There is a similar Japanese Girl Group called Desurabbits or Deathrabbits. They feature their manager in a helmet, mask and costume similar to Darth Vader.
