Love these old buses, I am restoring an early 1990's Mercedes 912 fitted with an OM364A turbo diesel. Upgraded the engine to OM364LA specs, completely cut out all the rust, renewed braking and suspension etc. This one was refitted with an Allison auto transmission which works OK but takes a lot of care to match up to the OM364 power output. Here in Australia we had a significant number of the 709D, 912D and 800 series distributed by Mercedes from their factory in Brasil over about a four year period They have a reputation of total reliability and are starting to become appreciated on how good they are.

yeah, that's right, Edward. Same in Europe. They were undervalued a long time, but nowadays it's hard to find an affordable one 😎 Take care of yours.

13-14 liters per 100 km. Comfort speed? slow... 😏 ☺️ we mostly do 70-90 on highways but we do prefer smaller routes 😎
