- Why do so many stories in the Bible include mountains? It’s not a coincidence-mountains were places of deep symbolism for the biblical authors. Watch our new video, The Mountain, to see how mountains in the Bible are used to show the unique way that God relates to humans.
In this video, you will learn…
The significance of mountains in the ancient imagination
Why God put humanity on a mountain in the beginning

Thank you .Your impact on my life and those around me have been phenomenal
Any chance you chaps could try answer this question: how did Jesus survive 40 days and nights without water?
I also wondered if you guys know of David Keasler ; he often talked on the. ' upside down kingdom ' way before I’d heard it elsewhere - 2000 to 2001 , Leeds , UK .
I believe he’s assistant Professor in Theology these days.
Anyway he could never answer that question.
Hat tip to all the artists who worked on this and pulled so many visual motifs through from beginning to end. Communicating on so many levels. Brilliant as always!
💙 we will pass this encouragement along to the team!! Thank you!!
Yes.
This is antichrist. God is the Word. Repent.
Last night while in bed, I actually was looking deeper into the topic of mountains and who went onto the mountains in my Bible study and its significance to each of the different people who did so! So it’s so ironic how this popped up in my YT feed this morning!
I love the gentle way God leads us :) so beautiful
You’ll be blessed by this podcast series then!
Christendipity i would say
@@matheusdealbuquerque3277 hahaha yes
GODWINK!!
It continues to amaze me how this crew makes such advanced scholarship accessible to a wide audience. It's so awesome it's had to put into words.
I was thinking just yesterday about the significance of mountains in Scripture. And here we are with this video. Holy Spirit is moving. ❤
Wonderful! Thanks for watching.
So, after going through the Sermon On the Mount with you guys this past year, I took the Lord's Prayer and turned it into a 7 part study for a retirement community I teach at once a month. This past lesson was focused on Matthew 6:10, Your kingdom come, Your desire be done, as it is in the skies, so also on the land. And the focus was the cosmic Eden mountain and how life, the spring flowing from the throne of God (the peak of the Eden mountain), breaks off into 4 separate streams to bring life to the nations, meaning it is the purpose of the people of Yahweh to take His Word to Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and the utter parts of the world. Thank you for all of the resources and depth you provide that make these moments possible.
We’re so glad to be a resource for you!
@@KyleInTexas Amen. I love this.
2 bits of feedback:
But first, I love the Bible project and have watched every video, listened to every podcast episode and completed a few of the classes, (also a monthly supporter ☺️) thank you for everything you have done and are doing!
1. I found the mountain video narration to be very toddler book esque. If that was the intention then great! 🙂 Personally I prefer the Tim/John dialogue approach to talking through a theme video. It also came across quite poetry like and lacked explanation for things like why Adam and Eve were on a mountain, which I can imagine will be quite jarring for those that haven’t been exposed to that idea over the years through the podcast. However it could lend itself to spark curiosity in the viewer leading them to the guides and further exploration/study, so that’s something that may be worth trying to measure 🤔😄
2. The behind the scenes piece was excellent! The hosts did an awesome job and it was really engaging, would love this to be a regular thing! ❤️☺️
Thanks again for everything you are doing, I have learned so much from you and used your resources a lot over the years to support with teaching people about Jesus! 👌
I did not find the Adam and Eve and the mountain reference clear at all.
@ it’s certainly not immediately obvious, but Genesis 2 talks about Eden being the place where rivers start, which geographically speaking tend to start on mountains. Also Ezekiel 28:13-14 talks about Eden being on a mountain.
Those are a couple of the arguments anyway 👍🙂
❤❤❤ LORD, I ASK PROVISION FOR THE " BIBLE PROJECT" , IN JESUS NAME, AMEN 💜💜💜
I’m desperate to turn my finances around. Working three jobs just to pay off debt has been exhausting. Can someone share her contact details or guidance?
Amen
@ChrisDan-ps2brthis is a scam. You should be ashamed of yourself.
I love the Bible projects and look forward to forth coming episodes
The Kingdom rejoices in you and in the Bible Project team, and in all of us fellow hearers.
The greatest story ever. 😭 God passionately searches for us. 🥺
Amen. The immeasurable love of Christ
I like this mountain explanation. Well done. Another mountain story is The Good Samaritan. The road from Jerusalem to Jericho is between two extreme elevations. Jerusalem is thousands of feet high, a suitable place for the Temple. Jericho is by the Dead Sea at minus 900 feet. So the story has it that the Rabbi was going DOWN the road to Jericho. In other words, not going towards God. Likewise the Priest was going down the road. Whereas the Samaritan was going up the road. He was living out his faith life whereas the ordained guys outwardly appeared to be God focused, they were not. The road from Jerusalem to Bethlehem, up to a point, is the same road. Bethlehem is at the same elevation as Jerusalem. One cannot judge from appearances whether they are on the road down or up. Only the intentionality of the traveler determines which road they are on, we can't judge others. Just because a person is a member of a Christian religion does not mean they are on the road up, just like the Rabbi and the priest in the Good Samaritan story.
I love your explanation, it reminds me of the Book of Jonah. In the NASB version, which has most of the original Hebrew literary elements, Jonah goes down in elevation each time he disobeys God. He goes DOWN from his home city to the port city of Joppa. He goes down from The port into the ship's lower quarters. And finally he gies down from the ship into the depth of the sea in the fish. After he repents, he get vomitted UP onto the shore, then goes up to Nineveh, wjich was on a hill. It's nice to see the parallels of elevation and God's glory.
@@Loaves_and_fishes Wow - thanks for writing this.
That a genius significance I never noticed.
Great stuff friend, I love hearing of these details because it takes a story I thought I knew well and opens my eyes to the deeper meaning. Thank you
This read like a daily devotion! Thank you. I praise God for your insight and thus platform to share it.
"The way back to the mountain is to lose what we call life and receive back the true life that God offers." We need to trust God so we can sacrifice our lives for him. It may seem like the life you have right now is the perfect life for you, but what he has in store for you is greater.
I love everything the Bible project puts out. I try to share it with everyone that I know or is willing to listen. Thank you so much and I look forward to more information

Think you guys missed one of the most important mountains in all of scripture. Us! The church. I noticed that Tim said he hadn’t explored the living stones theme in depth in relation to mountains in the “How can we live out the idea of the mountain now?” Podcast. Daniel 2:45 talks about a growing mountain….how does a mountain grow? It’s us, the church, the living stones building this mountain kingdom that will stand forever! Amen! Would love to see this theme revealed. Keep up the good work!
i hope one day that there will be a full animated story telling video for each book of the bible..from Genesis to Revelation. God bless the BibleProject team.
A million thanks to you guys. These videos means so much to me, they have been of tremendous help in my Bible reading❤❤❤
The behind the scenes was so much fun!!!
Glad you liked it!!
I most definitely agree. This place looks like it would be hard work but also a blast to work for.
Yeah! 😂
Was grinning ear to ear! 😂
I was also thinking about how many Bible characters had significant encounters with mountains 🏔️these past few days. The way how God lead us is beautiful. God bless❤💜😎
I can't stop the echoes of verses like
Ephesians 1:10 says that God's plan is to unite all things in heaven and on earth under Christ.
Revelation 21:2-3: Describes how heaven and earth will become one, with no wall of separation
Matthew 28:18-20: Jesus states that he has all authority in heaven and on earth
Revelation 21:18: Describes the new heaven and new earth, with a wall made of jasper and a city made of pure gold.
Thank your for making this content Bible Project team ❤
God did not say 'It is good' on the second day of creation when He divided the waters and created the heavens. But on the third day He said 'It is good' twice, one after dividing the waters and creating the earth, and the other after the vegetation appeared.
Meaning heaven and earth are meant to be a pair!
Day 1 of Petitioning to make a Bible Project Bible translation
That's a lot..

I feel like it's basically the NIV anyway. I'd rather they do what they're best at and go on tour to explain what's going on. Maybe though if they really wanted to.
Or a Bible project study Bible. It would require a lot of donations though
Great Video! 👍🏾 Also I love how you all have a playful work environment. It shows Christians can be saved and have good clean fun! God Bless You All! 🙏🏾💚😊

The Bible project is very inspiring and inspirational with full details that teaches us about God especially the mountain top with today messages in U-Version bible verse app teaching us how to Love your neighbor & your enemies as you Love yourself
God bless bible project..✝️🇺🇲🙏🙌
I have wanted to find a book on important mountains and their significance in the Bible for a long time now! This is great! What mountains will be covered? Horeb, Sinai, Zion, Carmel, Olives, Tabor?
Stay tuned... 🤭🤐
Looking forward to this. Glory to God. Jesus our dear Lord is the better Moses. A better Elijah. He is that Lamb of God that was sacrificed on that same Mnt where Abraham was told God will provide a lamb. As Moses went to Mnt Sinai for the Law from God so to Jesus brings a new way of life, on the Mnt of Olives. The up-sided down Kingdom.
@@bibleprojectCan you guys pleaseeeeeeee make COMIC BOOKS OF THE BIBLE ESPECIALLY THE NEW TESTAMENT FROM THE 4 GOSPELS. You already have the content 😊 just copy paste and print 😅. I will be the first to buy..

Thank you very much for making a series about mountains. In 2015, I had a significant dream, which I believe is my first ever prophetic dream. It filled me with the fear of the Lord. In my dream, I was brought up to a mountain overlooking a beautiful, serene blue sea. On that mountain there was a mini wooden house, four corners, two windows, and a Bible. All of a sudden I was inside the house; the Bible was the only object in that house. So, I read the Bible and all of a sudden fire fell down- the Word of God was on fire BUT it wasn’t burning (not in ashes). I could still read and flip the pages. Does that make sense?
And another mountain dream is that one night, a few years back, the Lord brought me up there again. It was overlooking a beautiful, serene blue sea, again. In that dream I was singing, worshiping Jesus, then winds blew and the waves started crashing against the rocks making sounds. The sound of it was like no other sound I have heard. I am a worship leader btw and I love to sing for the Lord. I got a revelation of that dream the moment I woke up. Glory to God. All creatures and creations worship Him! It gives Him glory.
Again, thank you, BibleProject for this! I sure will dive deeper into this. Plus this is making me dig into my prophetic dreams again and study where the Lord is leading me!! 🤍🤍
Not sure who the young lady was that did the interviews at the end on the Mountain premier. But she did a great job with having fun and bringing incredible energy to the process. I had a blast just watching! And she had a good "kind of silent" side kick that played a great part as well. I just so love you guys for bringing this wonderful material to us! May God Continue to Use You All!

Love the running interview quiz!!
You guys are adorkable. May God keep blessing your work!
The scholarship and artwork are brilliant. God bless you all at BibleProject ❤
I'm planning to watch one of your videos everyday as a good habit. Thank you for what you do. It means more than you think.
Very thankful for TBP, for taking something so mundane, something you wouldn't think twice about and showing us the biblical wisdom in it!
Amazing guys....this I think got me more encouraged, inspired, and enlightened with spiritual messages, sermons & topic of the mountain. Amen & hallelujah in the highest!🙏📘⛰👼
🙏
I cannot wait for this new series, looks promising. I love learning the bible with you guys; keep on spreading the good word. I would love to become a channel member, but in my region, TH-cam does not allow it, so sending my love and support.❤
The story of “the sacrifice of Isaac” is one of my favorites. First, ironic title. But so much more…
The parallels of a father sacrificing his son, the son willingly carrying the wood on which he was to be sacrificed, the 3 day journey, Abraham’s prophecy that “the Lord will provide a lamb”, the mountain symbolism you’re referencing and so much more.
Gods ability to weave His will throughout history among His free-willed creation is awesome, in the most literal meaning of the word.
I searched “The Mountain” on your app and 15 podcast episodes came up, the 3 outside this Mountain Series are, the Mountain Garden and The Human Ideal (Metaphor E2), Tale of Two Mountains (Hebrews Study E8), and lastly Exile from the Cosmic Mountain (Exile E3)
Thought that might be helpful to someone :)
Thank you TBP family. This was a good sneak peak. I would love to work in this environment!
wow that’s so crazy to see how mountains were so crucial in Bible and never thought of that way…so inspiring! God bless you all!!
it's so good watching you enjoy the bibleproject life. God bless!🙌
The end segment was just as enjoyable as the mountain video. 👏🏾
I love this!. I pray God continously blesses your ministry!
How wonderful this all seems to be.
May we all be Blessed with these revelations of knowledge set before us.
I hope there will be some discussion about high places in this episode 😢 The theological transformation of high place into full form idolatry is fascinating and generative theologically.
❤ 😊 delighted at the ending,. Love it Add more like this in the upcoming videos
So amazing and fulfilling, keep up the Good Work Bible Project! God bless you and us all.
Just last week I was telling a friend how God had invited ALL of Israel up the mountain, but they were afraid so Moses went alone (and that I don't want to be afraid to go up the mountain to meet with God)...love seeing that as well as God's presence coming down represented visually!
Bible project is amazing!! Such a great learning experience!!
Thanks for the video and all you do spreading the Good News all over the world
Thank you very much my beloved brethren for sharing these easy to understand well explained lessons from the Bible. Please keep up the good ministry.
I was about to contribute money to The Bible Project but I am startled by the lack of diversity behind the scenes. I will pray for the Lord to make me rich so I can fund a Bible Project that reflects the ENTIRE CHURCH.

sooooooooooooooo beautifully depicted and said!!!!! "the mountain was where the sky touched down on the land"😍😍😍never thought about it like that.
Also never thought about how when God's presence comes DOWN from the mountain because "from below the mountain is frightening" serves as a kind of hyperlink and forecast into Jesus coming DOWN to us as one of us😲😲😲oh my goodness. Such an incredible demonstration of His mercy and kindness, given to us time and time again😢😢
Thank youuuuu so much for this🖤🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

This was amazing! I love how you take a complex theological idea and explain it in a way that everyone can understand! Also the use of scale and color makes it so powerful!
this is exactly why i love going on hikes!! i feel so close to The Lord when I'm at the peak and I praise God for it. Thank you for this! 0:39
Wow, what a beautiful amazing analogy extraction of scriptures and blessings too!
I learned that if I can’t make it up to the mountain then Jesus will meet me where I’m at, even at low points in life and He will help lift me up! So I can experience the mountain top :)))
Also, halfway through the video, what I found interesting is that Jesus gave His life on the Mountain of Olives, then I realised Jesus was offering us, humanity an Olive branch 🕊
Thanks so much for putt8ng this together, it’s very rich in spiritual blessings xxx Every. Blessing :)))
I lift up my eyes to the mountain
Where’s my help come from. .
Fantastic work you guys.
I just finished reading Exodus. It made me wonder on a lot of things like
- what did it mean as God hardened Pharaoh’s heart
- why God continued to use Aaron even if he made the idol calf
- how God is so detailed and how Moses and the Israelites followed His specs
- How God descended upon the tabernacle
I love this! Working there also looks so fun and chill! It’s a blessing how much this company has grown! I thank the Lord Jesus for the BibleProject!
I love that y'all don't keep count. Just do it. 🙏🏼 Praise God.
