Moral of the story. Only buy this if you can do your own work.

It doesn't sound like you spent much time with the owner manual. That steering wheel movement feature you mentioned can be turned off. Your model seems pretty well equipped but you talk about how "simple" it is. It had 20-way adjustable seats! You have side cameras in the fenders. You might enjoy it more if you know all it can do for you.

I never ever thought i would own a bmw. Just from hearing the horror stories. I bought a 2000 323i from my boss. I work on cars and haven't paid a mechanic in two and a half decades. I bought it for $2500 he realy babied it. When i went through it i fixed driver's side window regulator, oil filter housing gasket because it was leaking alot. I bought an aluminum valve cover because the plastic ones warp and crack and leak alot. I replaced some plastic hoses. And a few other items. It's a 5 speed stick. I freaking loved it so much. I'm hooked on beemers. If you can work on them you can get them as reliable as toytas. Just replace the parts that typically go bad before they do. I got a new clutch set but my daughter went off to college and took it. It's an old car but still drives good and looks good. I want two x5's one for me and one for my wife. Virtually the same engine that is on my 24 year old bmw.

@@pg9112471 oh man that sounds like a great find a 5 speed too! 2000 is the last of the good cars in my mind before they loaded em with unnecessary electronics. BMW's were great cars which is why I wanted one. This X5 was an awesome car in terms of performance but all the electrical ruined it for me. But a 2000 is a great year so you found a gem for sure. I just saw a mint 80s one on the side of the road yesterday it was beautiful. Enjoy your car thanks for commenting !

Bought one a few months ago and I regret it. Please don’t buy this car unless you have thousands dollars saved to keep up with constantly fixing it. I ignored all the warnings online and I now regret it.

Yup exactly why I made this video. It cost a fortune and was not worth it. Sorry to hear the same happened to you

@@SubdivisionAuto I want to sell it but my conscience won’t let me sell to it to another person. This car is a money pit.

Doesn't surprise me. I had a few more problems I forgot to list I had an Injector go too (which surprised me). Just the part was over a thousand bucks. I thought being a diesel it would have no problems but ended up with some (evne at that low milage).
