We were up late at night watching this race, and when Doohan pulled that big left hand slide, I said to my mates, ''he has just made the left side of that tyre really sticky, watch for the last corner'', and yes he had. lol

I still couldn’t believe my eyes when I first saw the fans on the track.

@@TrickyMario7654 Yep, it was just another thing that Doohan knew he could use to out psych him, along with all of the other tricks he had been using to get in his head and make Criville put extra pressure on himself that he didn't need.

What a finish Doohan wanted to leave it as late as he dared to pass Criville and Barry Sheene called it spot on that he was going to pass him in the last corner. They both ran in a little hot they both went ride but in Criville's desperation to square off the last corner when he tried to fire it out and try and slipstream Doohan before the finish line the back end just spun on him and went down big time.

Ironic Mick calling Jerez at that stage his favourite track that it was Jerez that would end his career.

Same thing with Wayne Rainey. Misano was his favourite track and that one ended his career. Pure irony.

I remember watching this live... his fans wrecked it for him 100%

Yeah, you can thank the track commentators for mistakingly announcing the race was over one lap earlier than it actually was.
