    In.2020 i lived in subic bay yacht club for 9 months with my asawa. Olongapo is a good place to stay. Easy to get to angeles airort and to North luzon and to manila. Good central place to travel from. Much better than staying in manila

    • @TheOriginalRick
      @TheOriginalRick 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The advantage for us in Manila is that is where the United States veterans hospital is. At our age it's good to stay reasonably close to quality medical care on somebody else's dime. When we get ready to stay there longer than four weeks at a time we'll have to make some decisions concerning that aspect.

      @@TheOriginalRick hi Rick. I was in philippines 9 months in 2020. In june 2021 i was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Glad i was home for treatment at that time. Chemo and radiation and tablets keep me existing. Miss my asawa in subic bay. For last 15 years i had a great life in australia and philippines. Philipines gave me a life i had only dreamed of. Best regards

      @@denisstanley6546 Glad that you are doing better. I just went through some unexpected health problems a few months ago where we were not sure I would come out on the other side. That's why Healthcare is going to be an important factor on us staying long-term in the Philippines.

    Always enjoy going to the public market in Olongapo. When we visit Subic Bay Freeport we always try to make time for the public market also.
    There are enough Western expats hanging around the city that the people are used to seeing white folk wandering around. In many small towns in the provinces I'll stand out quite noticeably, but there I'm not that unusual. We missed our yearly trip to the Philippines in 2021 because of covid and 2022 is still looking nebulous.

      Reply to Rick -- Yes, I believe that is still the case today, Rick, though fewer than before. The government is re-building the city from the major destruction of Volcano eruption of Mt. Pinatubo, some years ago. Everybody should enjoy the brand-new construction and the finished products when everything is completely done -- minus the military presence in the region. Happy New Year2022. be blessed.

Nothing is written in Stone and we must change some things that are wrong for our communities and banza. Ayaw na natin ng mali at salot -- an imported chaos. tayoy mga Christiano; I hope no one is confused about this historical truth. God speed. dec2021.

      Not a good idea to rename Olongapo. That's what it was named for and known for worldwide. This must be an initiative of politicians against Gordon. Can't do much enough than renaming it? Just like Ninoy Aquino Airport. Irrelevant.

      Sino ang may idea na I change ang pangalan ng city of Olongapo?

    • @merrileeleonard6372
      @merrileeleonard6372 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Reply to @@cesarfortaleza4083 -- Do you still see the original Olon-gapo today, or are you seeing something entirely different compared to before, right now? Where did the Volcano Pinatubo go and what did he do to the city? Speaking of what's Historic about Olongapo? Here's how the Old Folklore story is being told, which tells us to mean -- that once upon a time long ago, an old man's head got chopped-off during an internal conflict, and since he was sort of like a hero at some measure in the province of zambales, they named his city Olongapo = (Olo) (ng) (Apo), after him. From that ancient story, about the murdered Apo (old man), the people of zambales officially named his livelihood -- in one single word as Olongapo, which is still very much a part of the zambales province up to now -- 2022. We need to change the name of that city for the simple fact that the Apo did not have any good or positive influenced in that society -- either back then, or now in modern times, and the city of (Olo Ng Apo) was used and abused by another non-influential foreign invaders -- another ugly story of that part of Zambales. The province of Zambales is a sizeable land, which starts from Olo Ng Apo and it goes all the way up to the very North of Isabella. thanks for writing, Fortaleza. be blessed. jan2022.
