I have a list of book grail finds and last summer I saw an early edition of Black’s Law Dictionary across the room at an estate sale a person grabbed it about 20 seconds before I got to it, it was only a dollar and that was terrible. To give you hope - two weekends ago I went to an estate sale that had been open for hours and found one sitting buried in a box so I finally can check it off my list!
I've learned to go with my hunches because everytime I don't I miss out. I was looking at what I didn't know until later was some rare belts from a local golf course that is very exclusive. They were a buck a piece and when I did comp them they were over $200 each. I didn't have service on my phone at the time and now I just go with the hunch and if it's a fail it eventually will sale for something.
I walked by a box of VHS one day and it was all sealed stuff maybe 30 movies, I did look at the ones on top and did not dig underneath. I seen a guy dig through the box and picked out some stuff and I asked what he found. He showed me a Rocky, Star Wars, and a Nightmare on Elm Street. New sealed movies. There was some others in there. There was a BTTF but was not sealed. and to know they was just $1 each. Heartbreaking stuff, Some times we do get tunnel vision and see other stuff that we like or know we can sell and miss some jewels along the way. However there are other times that we find the jewels and it all evens out so to speak in a round about way. As they say, Win some, Lose some.
Hi Troy Nice to see you. Sorry you missed that video, next time. I never heard of that movie. Once at GW on a new cart a guy grabbed a piece of valuable jadeite right from under me. He was a reseller & knew he scored. Next time! TFS ☮️💜
Welcome back! I am hoping we see more of you. So sorry about the tape but you will find another grail out there. Maybe he needed the money, or he needed a real pick me up. You find awesome things so look forward to what you will find.
For a long time, as the price of Chanel increased, I no longer thought I could afford it. I think I'll be happy that I have the kislux as my travel bag that I don't have to take care of. By the way, I'm sure no one will have a hard time telling the difference. Thanks for the comparison.
Hey Troy! Oh, bummer about that video. I would not have known that title. Thank you for sharing! If it makes you feel better... I missed getting a complete, working Dark Tower game at a garage sale in Orlando a couple years ago. A guy was walking back to his car with it just as I was walking in. I just wanted to throw myself on the ground and have a temper tantrum! My work schedule doesn't allow many opportunities to go sourcing, so it was a true gut punch that I was that close on a day I could actually shop. 😭
Ok, I don't know if you are familiar with Hallmark Jingle Pals Christmas décor, but there was one of them that was only available here in Canada and it sells for $300 on eBay. Well, a few months ago I spotted a customer at my local thrift paying for one at the cash register, I almost approached her to try and buy it from her and still kind of wish I had. The only reason I knew about it was I found one at another thrift previous to that and sold it, so that took the sting out of missing another one, but it still hurt.
I screwed up and left a hat at a yardsale sale the other day and a picker friend picked it up and sold it for $30. It wasn't a clear good one a bit different. I haven't admitted that I had passed it up earlier in the day to her yet.😂
Don't know if I missed out because I don't know Coach enough to spot a fake. Yesterday I found a pair of Coach shoes and a blue Coach bag in a random box at a garage sale. Wasn't willing to take a chance on them. My luck, I missed out on a couple hundred bucks, 🙄😁
Haven't forgot about the cassettes troy , just fell through tough times but this week they will be headed your way , hope they soften the blow for the miss if my miss didn't help 🤮😅
Beanie Babies were mass produced. They flooded their own market and killed the rarity/value. Cars was only available to Disney movie club members, and only those members that selected it on VHS instead of DVD. Looks like 9 listed on eBay - some with wild prices, yes - and three sold. So rarity is still certainly there for a collector.
I got one to make you feel better and I think I'm gonna take first place on misses 🤮😅 didn't hurt much since I found out 3 years later but more amazed on what went through my hands and it only cost 18.00 and I passed 😢. I believe it was worth well over 50,000 maybe close to 200.000 ... A blank for you to guess 😅???????????? It was a BLACK OPAL around 3" in length and 2" wide I don't remember the color it had but I clearly remember the back of it that was black with a grind mark that went through to white rock and since I never heard of it and for that reason I gave it right back 🤮🤮 only to find out 3 years later that was the rarest black opal since it was so black on the back side the grind mark was to let the light through to show the colors on the front side . I wasn't reselling at the time but always loved the hunt at thrift stores and garage sales , it slipped through my hands but it got me into reselling on eBay
Still haunted by a garage sale last year where I was hunting through a huge box of books and with another reseller he grabbed out a huge binder of early first edition Pokémon card collection Ouch!! He knew what he had too!! So close yet so far 😢
Hey Troy! Missed ya bud. Glad to see you posting some content again. Hope all is well.
Sorry you weren't grabbing that VHS tape.. I didn't know "History of Violence" existed.. Thanks for the Inmfo..

Thanks for the tip on the VHS to keep an eye out for!

So glad to see a new video from you! You have been missed. :)

Hi Troy glad to see you back
I was pumped to get a new video. Not sure if it is just me or what. I think your camera is a bit zoomed in at the first sale.
Had to go to the ol' iPhone at that sale with a dead GoPro battery.
Lol, on the Kevin reference. Great video.

Oh, man! That one I finally found a couple years ago!
Good to see you back with another video.😊

how about leave other people alone
Whut?
I sold probably 5 or 6 Coach purses for like 5 bucks each at my yard sale. Didn't have an eBay account then and didn't watch these type of videos.
Great to see a new video on this dreary NY day !

Where have you been? Missed watching you
Too busy and no garage sales! Starting another business ground up has taken a lot of my time

Wow we missed you
What am I missing with VHS Cars? I see a lot of them posted for high dollars, but hardly any sold for good money. They remind me of Beanie Babies.
