James Brown and Elvis Presley were good friends and admired each others talents. James authored two books, and one contains this quote about Elvis: 'I wasn't just a fan, I was his brother. In 1972 I was a freshman in high-school here in st.louis and was at the wrestling matches at kiel auditorium with my best friend and my dad standing in line and in walked Red Foxx with five bodyguards. To make a long story short he walked over to us and shook are hands and he asked me if I thought I was Elvis. At the time I had long hair and side burns like Elvis. I laughed and asked him why he said that, he replied your side burns. We all laughed and Mr.Foxx said nobody can look like Elvis. I asked him if he knew Elvis and he said yes they were good friends, Mr.Foxx said he goes to see Elvis in Las Vegas. He said they was close. We were trying to ask him about himself but all he talked about was Elvis. I also got to know Chuck Berry and he did nothing but praise Elvis.
Elvis was also close to Fats Domino, fats did a tribute song for Elvis to .

When Elvis died, James Brown came to Elvis' funeral: James Brown asked the Presley family if he could be alone with Elvis for a few minutes because he wanted to thank Elvis for everything Elvis had done for him and the black population. James Brown really loved Elvis.

Here's a story that blew my mind. When Elvis' died, his body lay in state at Graceland, thousands of people came to pay their last respects, and stars and friends. James came and cried so much and he did not want to leave. The last one there. They almost had to carry him out of Graceland!
They were both Southerners and musicians. They were also immensely talented and had their own style and swag.

Thank you for speaking out about Public Enema. I was 18 when they said that, and a HUGE rap fan. Fortunately, I had been an Elvis fan for 10 years already by that time, so I knew Chuck D was full of shit! He TRIED to semi-walk it back but failed. He didn't address the racist issue, just that he shouldn't have been called The King, as if Elvis coined himself with that name! I saw many in my generation of young people turn away from Elvis because of that. One good thing about youtube is it's allowed new generations of fans to discover Elvis music. People of all walks of life.

I had read & heard how close those two were! When Elvis died......James Brown went & sat with Elvis for hours....they finally had to go & get him. His death was hard on James & he didn't want to leave....even after ..I think it had been like 4 or 5 hours! He stayed for the whole funeral & for a while after....God Bless him! James Brown said he lost his brother that day...😢

I was really surprised when I heard that their Friendship was not included in the New Elvis Movie.
One more little nugget of trivia, James Brown & Elvis both shared Native American Ancestry, James was Apache and Elvis was Cherokee, his Great Great Great Grandmother's name was Morning White Dove.

Yes, on Elvis' mothers' side and, Elvis was also part Jew, on his mothers' side! His parent's told ELvis not to tell people because they worried that someone might hurt him, especially his mother Gladys! After he was grown though, he felt that he shouldn't hide who he really was and he told it, he didn't spread it arould but, he told a few of his closest friend's. Just a few more nuggets about Elvis. I'd say that it will show up in the movie, remember we've only seen Trailers of the movie, their not showing us the whole thing until it comes out. The way I've heard it, is it's going to put a lid on all the racist and, other lies that was told on Elvis!

@@naomiwarner7117 Elvis does not have Cherokee blood or Jewish ancestry. Those are myths and legends that have been passed down like a lot of other myths about Elvis. If something gets repeated often enough, then it appears to be truth. There is a new book (2021) called "The Roots of Elvis: The True Origin Story Revealed by DNA and New Research" by Gary Lindberg who really researched both sides of Elvis' families for those particular myths to find the evidence of them. The original myths that keep getting said, were found in the book, "Gladys and Elvis" by Elaine Dundy, who did not research the Cherokee myth or the Jewish myth, she just took them as facts from whomever she spoke with. These myths are fraud, perpetuated by Elaine Dundy who had no conclusive proof. All of this is explained thoroughly in "The Roots of Elvis..........."

Twice James Brown had to be taken out of Graceland during Elvis’s viewing because he became so overcome with grief. They loved each other, respected each other and were both great in their own ways. May they RIP & perhaps are still trying to stump each other with spiritual music. 🥹🥹👼🏻👼🏻

I was just as surprised when I learned that B.B. King, Fats Domino, and James Brown were friends with Elvis. I'd been a fan of B.B. King, Fats Domino, and James Brown since the cradle. R.I.P. to those legends. They were cool cats.

We played several Elvis gospel songs at my Mama's funeral. I miss her everyday...and Elvis too. And that version of Love Me Tender was AWESOME! Brought tears to my eyes...they were two of the best entertainers that ever lived.

I have seen this and interviews with Mr. James. There is also a James Brown singing Love Me Tender as a tribute to Elvis. Elvis always my favorite and love James also. Elvis also paid Jackie Wilson's bills at a long term care facility and the estate continued to pay Jackie's bills after Elvis passed. Saw an interview with Jackie's son
You should know also that when Elvis passed away (R.I.P.) James Brown(R.I.P) went to Graceland..He stayed in the room where Elvis coffin was exposed ,for 7 or 8, hours, They had to ask him to leave because they were closing the doors..He was sitting down, not moving., grieving so much for the death of his longtime friend He stayed the longest,. Ann-Margret was the second one who stayed for about 3 to 4 hours..You should also know about his deep and beautiful friendship with Jackie Wilson..(I love him) Thank you for your video..We are talking about legends and legends never dies..I hope they re all together up there singing Gospels for the Lord Jesus...AMEN

To add to this video, here's a tid-bit of fact regarding the Love that Elvis and James Brown had for each other. Members of the Memphis mafia, the inner circle have stated that when Elvis passed, only a handful of his closest friends were invited into Graceland as Elvis' was in his casket for viewing. James Brown was among the few and was clearly upset by the death of his good friend. RIP to both of these American Giants of Entertainment!! Thanks Captain Tom! CAPTAIN TOM, SIR: I certainly can attest to the harm of racism. I'm Naitive American; or America Indian; or "First People" like our neighbors the Canadians call us. My mother, her brothers and sisters realized the forceful hate of many, including people in charge that were paid to "integrate" them into "society".
The video was Excellent! It shows that when society in general can't get along, two magnificent talents can be Brothers. I've always hated when two singers are compared when singing the same song. Mr. Brown's rendition comes from a soul full of "life"; his good times, his bad times; in general his exposure to everything life threw at him. ELVIS was born into abject poverty; being one of the few "white" kids in the ghetto neighborhood. Being picked on he would defend himself and his colored brothers. ELVIS HAD a reputation of befriending many families he wasn't allowed to even talk to, because of segregation. ELVIS would grow up singing and learning guitar from those wise old men sitting on the porch, who he would call beautiful Soul and Gospel singers who in turn called him son.

Elvis is above any suspicion or derogatory comment. He is the King and a king cannot be touched by common people gossips or empty speculations. If a personality like James Brown appreciated him as a singer snd human being there is no other comment to add. He was a man, James says. It means everything. We will never stop missing him.

Jamse Brown sat at Elvis' coffin at Graceland and, cried and, cried! The security Guards had to help him out, he was devastated. He said; I didn't just lose a friend, I lost a brother!
My dad always said, “ people can say 😂anything but it’s what they do that defines him. “. Even Sam Cooke told Jackie Wilson, ‘ people always say Elvis learned to sing like that from black people , he may have been influenced by us , but he learned to sing that way the same way I did , as a gospel singer ‘

When Elvis pass James Brown was devastated. He was able to have a private viewing and he was crying and talking to Elvis. He was there for awhile and he did not want to leave. Brown body guards had to help him leave. Have you reacted to Elvis And The Black Community?
I just finished watching "Get on Up" a '14 biopic movie of James Brown and kept wondering if he and Elvis ever met and if so what they thought of one another? Just a sidenote. I recall seeing when Michael Jackson was popular and James Brown invited him up on the stage and maybe it’s just me, but I could tell that Michael Jackson was heavily heavily influenced by James Brown, and not the other way around. James Brown, hard, driving passion, intensity. Both David letterman, and Paul Shaffer were asked who the best musical guest ever on the letterman show was and both said hands-down James Brown.
Isn’t it sweet and perfect how talent recognizes each other when they see it? Elvis is in James Brown’s relationship as well as his friendship with B.B. King and many others is really an example of how we should be.

The horrible rumor was planted in Sepia, a magazine marketed to American black readers. In 1957 was when the article was printed and the propaganda began. I personally think at that time in American history, the rumor was taken seriously because Elvis was a white man from the south where segregation was law. Little did most people know he grew up with black neighbors and friends so just like any kid growing up in a culturally rich environment, it influenced him deeply. So he had true soul, no matter the color of his skin.

A lot of people think Elvis is or was racist Quincy Jones has been quoted saying Elvis made a derogatory term towards our people of color in this country which is a lie I don't know if he said that meaning Quincy Jones but I don't think Elvis would have said that being the way he was his personal cook Mary was black and he brought her a house and the sweet sensations traveled with him and he refused to play a place that had a problem with them so there's countless stories to go against what Quincy Jones is saying.
