Glorious! Interesting to hear J&S as still quite posh, before they slid down the social scale. Perhaps they had been always been "passing" as posh. Eric Merriman complained they had stolen his characters of Charles & Rodney from "Beyond Our Ken", and when you hear this you can see why. But the evolution to classic cockney camp J&S was quite a rapid process. Charles & Rodney were metropolitan effete dandies, and any sexual implication was well hidden. Julian & Sandy exploded out of the closet! (Although there was often a carefully inserted line put in as an escape route, to defend themselves against the censors)
I believe this is the only episode when the opening line is reversed. I’m S and this is my friend J spoken by Kenneth Williams.
This is genius, both now and for the straightened times it was written and performed.
"Show 'im yer 'Arris Jule!" BOLD!!
Marine Commando Club !
So funny and love even as a heterosexual male!! Have a few on my reel to reel tapes!!

They lost it at 1:52 🤣
Must have been a right laugh
