Great filleting skills mate! You can't beat a just caught fresh sea fish for taste. I had a 5lb bass from the beach but it was when last on my hols in Italy. Had some mackerel on lures from the North Norfolk coast, will try there for Bass this summer....
Bum to the chin is the easiest way to gut a fish for future reference! Lovely bit of variety for the channel, looked like a good trip. Next time get a lemon in your bag, a nice squeeze goes a long way. Looking forward to the next catch and cook!
Nice vid buddy we're going on a nice romantic weekend (fishing session) at my moms caravan on the Antrim coast next weekend. (You can just imagine the wifes excited little face when I told her lol she has to babysit our 3 dogs when I'm fishing) We used to bring a metal bucket with air holes, filled with charcoal for mackerel your catch and cook just reminded me to go and find one. Does the mackerel not come far enough in to where your fishing? Fresh mackerel are awesome fresh out of the sea!
Really enjoyed that, guessing all the waste (fish that it) went back in the sea for the crabs etc. Done something similar myself recently and I found some eco friendly bbqs. A bit more expensive but its ready to cook on in minutes, they are made of wood and all heat blocks dissolve in water so dead easy to pack out as there is no heat left. Ps get some better 'approach shoes'. Your body will thank you when you hit 45 😅
Oh I forgot to say don't be eating dogfish or any type of shark as they urinate through their skin, unless you know how to counteract the smell/taste.... and even then after finding this out ....you don't really need to eat them. Ehhhhgggg!
Your knife is fine lol, give you a great tip wash the fillets in fresh rock pools to wash the blood off only do that in north Wales though as the sea is gin clean lol etc, DO NOT WASH under fresh water, love the video pal no script always best by the way........listen sea fishing isn't the same as river fishing anything goes, no need for tackle tarts in this game 👍👍👍🏴 good luck if you go bass fishing that will be time consuming probs the hardest bit of lure fishing if you dont get any local knowledge obviously even then it's not nailed on......my missus caught a bass at Porth Iago near aberdaron yesterday, they always turn up when U target Pollack or mackerel.....
I thought of you the other day, when I was catching nothing but dogfish :( they're so common where I am and are a pain to fight through to find more desirable fish
If you are after Pollock just look for deeper water mate, there are plenty of free maps out there, and with google maps satellite you can see exactly where is accessible. The north side of the island is generally deeper water - you can probably work out where this and prevents lots of people turning up to a previously quiet mark.
just bring a newspaper, gut the fish, wrap in the whole newspaper, dunk all in water till soaked through, chuck on fire, turn a few times and cook till paper almost burnt through, open up and eat.
Can’t catch a doggie? That’s unheard of down here in Kent! If you do a catch and cook they’re a lot easier to do at home - skinning them’s a right job. I’d leave them in the fridge for 24 hours until you cook them, otherwise they end up tasting like piss cos of the ammonia. They’re nice in a curry. To be fair you did a good job of a caveman-esque pollock!
Any chance you could do a lure session in the summer for Seabass I would defo be interested to seeing that video..😀👍
