    It will take relentless effort to bring Elmira back. But it can be done. Keep going kid. Ideas for the sizzle reel - Harris Hill, Mark Twain, glider go-pro cam footage, a walk down Main Street with Tommy Hilfiger, to the Midtown 111 shops, Watkins Glen, Corning Museum of Glass, Cornell U. Cmon what other area has a town named Horseheads? The Eldridge Park carousel, the downtown planning efforts and new apartments. But no not forget the architecture! That’s what will win it! You’ve got wonderful Craftsman bungalows all over the place. It’s affordable and it is a nice difference from hot Mississippi. Good luck!

    I know a lot of people who are lifelong residents of Elmira and are and have been community leaders. I'm also a member of the Elmira Cantata Singers and I'm sure we would love to be part of this project, as many of us have decades of family history here. I can think of one woman in particular, a 95 year old retired music teacher, who is a treasure trove of memories.

    Alex, GREAT VIDEO. This one is better than the other one you did - I'd submit both - GO ELMIRA. My husband is born and raised in Elmira and he is a great guy. I'm definitely #TEAMELMIRA. Just was watching HomeTown on HGTV at the gym. Mentioned it to my husband when I came home. He somehow found your videos and your pitch. Great job!!!

    Great to see what your going for with this. The idea in theory is an inspiring one but like someone else mentioned in here that in today's day of social media, what the outside world looking in sayswill will be the narrative they run with if thats what viewers like to see unfortunately. Its gonna take years of local groups, companies and individuals in positions of power with common goals and interests that are actual interests of the people who live and grew up here that want to see elmira thrive not just abandon it. But regardless of possible outcomes this is a GREAT video and you clearly have a step in the right direction so thank you for inspiring change 🙏🙏 also zakhi at schar studios is a local videographer and entrepreneur from elmira who is fantastic with the camera work and popular with the local community perhaps you two could put something together similar to this and reach even more people, anything to spread the word 💯💯

    I hope this works out! Elmira could be so beautiful with the good old bones it has. Taxes are ridiculous with relatively few of the residents paying them. So much rental property that’s not kept up! I fear the powers to be don’t have the best interest of the residents at heart! I really do hope the best for this little city! There is so much important history that could be lost.

    Do they know that elmira is one of 2 cities in the entire US that are still in a recession while every other US city is flourishing? That right there should be enough for them to want to help. I love what your doing and hope that our small city can be saved before we the people who have been born and raised here have nothing.

    The first thing to do is start holding the community leaders accountable for their actions. From what iunderstand the buildings where Harolds was located was a big flop so guess who bought it for a 1/3 of the cost a community leaders relative. Theirs to much corruption in the government to ever help Elmira. All that the community leaders in Elmira are only concern is themselves. Truth be told

    Elmira was the only city that didn"t rebuild their downtown, even though they received the funding after the flood to do so! What did our incompeted city fathers do with those funds? When the Arnot Mall wanted to build their project in downtown, our city idiots said no, esp. the owners of Lou Pals and Panosions, both who had tremendous clout, didn't want the competition. We have over paid Downtown developers since 1972! What did they ever develope? Nothing!! Most of them were'nt even Qualified for their Positions just like our current developer! It doesn"t help the burden of the taxpayers that Elmira College does not pay taxes on all their acres of land and buildings! It
    haca college donates a million dollars to the city every year, why can't Elmira College follow suit or pay a head tax for every student!! I was born here and lived in Elmira for 50yrs. and finally got fed up with the increase in taxes and watching my hometown decay, so I relocated as have many citizens did. This city has been mis-managed for years and it doesn't help that the taxpayers are not given the privelege to vote on projects, or that their voices are ignored and rejected at city counsel meetings and I speak from experiance! I wish you the best of luck though!

    Sure, let yet another external, for-profit party that is not really concerned with Elmira's actual long-term success come in and prop up pretty makeovers and not truly address the underlying systemic rot and corruption that held Elmira back for so long. There's lots of people already working on making Elmira a better place. Let Elmirans control the destiny of their own city. If enough want Elmira to be a better place, it will be.

    I don't want to be negative or pessimistic but I guess I am, can we first talk about the crime and the drugs in the city? Not to mention the high tax rate. I would love to see the Elmira I remember when I was a kid growing up. But unless these things are addressed first any type of renewal will simply go downhill all over again. Sorry to be a Debbie Downer.

    • @AlexCChichester

      It's okay, like I said in the video I don't expect a TV show to completely turn Elmira around, but the attention it would bring and work that would be done on the town would only be a move in the right direction -- it'll still be up to us to bring Elmira back, but why not take this chance to try and get some help?

    • @mckensiebrooks7401
      @mckensiebrooks7401 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe the crime rates and drugs are so bad in elmira because of current state of recession that our city is in and has been in for the past 10 years. Every other US city was able to pull out of it and is now flourishing. We are one of 2 cities in the entire US that are in this state. It's scary to see what will happen if our city leaders dont bring more jobs to the area.

    • @roberttalada5196
      @roberttalada5196 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AlexCChichester Reality TV has a tendency to bring a lot of negative attention as well and highlight bad things. Elmira could end up more infamous than it already is. The producers will frame Elmira in whatever way will drive viewership. It could ruin existing progress/initiatives and drain grant pipelines by casting them as ineffective/not working/no longer necessary.

      "Debbie Downer" should make sure to vote in upcoming election. Along with anyone else who doesn't like how our elected government is governing, staying silent and negative isn't progressive for any situation. Everyone in NY has the same trouble with tax. I would be sure to mention that our little city pop
