- A very early start to visit Doncaster station in order to see some of the commuter services that don't normally get to be enjoyed during the more civilised hours of the day! Not only that but there a plethora of locomotives to be enjoyed, with the absolute highlight being the rare sight of a pair of LNER Class 91s being coupled back-to-back for a run up to York. This was in order to mark the 79th anniversary of the Normandy landings - otherwise known as D-Day - with a small ceremony in Platform 1 at York station. CrossCountry also treat us to the sight of four Class 43 HST power cars with early morning runs to the West Country, while GBRf provide not one but three Class 73s. Throw in the new Azuma 'Pride' unit 801226, an ex-DRS 66 now working with GBRf, a work-stained 66067 in full EWS livery and a couple of track tamping machines and you have quite the mix...
