Almost 58 here, and no, you're simply a man with great taste. 80s music was indeed amazing. I'm busy collecting a list: th-cam.com/play/PL1StK4aSSWe4iDlLf7kQpAkiIK5ijtIc7.html
@@Meowbay Thanks, had a quick look and some crackers there. Some that I do not recognise but that is the 80s - the gift that keeps on giving. I will have a listen.
I was aware of blancmange back in the 80s. However I sadly never looked them up. THIS IS A GEM amongst others they produced. I'm stupid to have missed the boat back then
I think anyone from this era could miss some great songs because the decade was full of so much talent. There are songs I like I never heard back then and also songs I hated back then I love now. 😃
Its 2024 and Im reminiscing back to good ole days in 1982 80s Music was literally a new Transition Wave in Musical Art ... Glad to have lived through that Era that Transition Phase
Fantastic song this was my late husbands favourite song and i had it at his funeral i can actually listen to it now without crying lyrics are brillant and it a very poignant song and will always remind me of my wonderful husband x
@@grahamcheesman2252 thankyou i listen to this song a lot because now i can smile when i play it as it reminds me of my wonderful husband and what great taste he had in music
@@helensmith7692 I'm so glad he was wonderful and you have been able to listen to this song. It has always been in my top 5 songs and they are all from the 80's. Keep the good memories of him alive and look after yourself ♥️🙏
I met these guys when they did a gig in Plymouth back in the mid-80s. They autographed their album copies for me. It was such a brilliant gesture, I have never thought of parting with them, despite what they may be worth. Great song from a great time. Doubt if that time - 60s, 70s and 80s will ever be repeated.
I was down an 80s music rabbit hole, a few days back. Stumbled across this forgotten little gem, and even the kids like it. I will have to hunt for this at my next visit to the vinyl record shop. I remember the video, as I bought the video EP on VHS - showing my age now! - which had “Blind Vision” and “Living On A Ceiling” on it.
I loved Blancmange! I was just getting ready for bed when Living on the Ceiling SUDDENLY popped into my head! Now I'm on a binge. I missed this beautiful ballad. As soon as I hit start, lyrics and memories flooded my mind. Thank you Neil ❤
That's what happens with great songs from our past, never leave and open us up like we are in a time machine. Privileged to be a teenager when this was released ❤
Sad that Living On The Ceiling was the only other single to chart in Aus just at the same time Aussie songs were having their best year ever here in the UK (Men At Work, Icehouse, Flash And The Pan)
I remember bringing the Video 45 (side note: kudos to the genius at Sony that took the new wave era & places an artists 2-4 great videos for fans to enjoy) to a friend who had never heard them & this being the middle of that trilogy of artistic celluloid greatness … this brings me more yearning for a dvd of their treasures to put on repeat & re-live my Saturday Rock Over London broadcasts that featured them continuously… still holds up 40 years later … thank you for cleaning this old chestnut for a beautiful vision
I realised watching back the videos that I had a bit of a crusb on Neil. I think it's the 80s look. He still looks good now and seems a really nice guy. I love their music too😊
Don't know how but I'd never heard this track from the pair before until the other night on, forgotten 80s. So nice to hear a classy tune from then, never to be repeated it made my day.
I probably shouldn't mention this, but my dad used to work for Don Crowhurst... The amount of times he brings it up in average conversation, I thought I'd give it a go...
For goodness sake Neil , don't go out in the sea when its stormy. Meanwhile great song and i have an original 45. Fatty in the shop sold it to me in 83. The shop long gone but was called Bus stop. i enjoyed your gig in .Kildare last summer keep on keeping on mate
My older sister had all their records x I must have this song in my memory bank as I was about 9 years old at the time , now I'm older I should look into them now x
I recorded the original demo at Stage One studio. Where we added the first snare overdubs into their ambient stuff. Lovely tune. Then and now. There's a Some Bizarre get together in London later in November 23.
I never understood why they weren`t more successful, a brilliant band with a sense of humour, and great songs.
How much more successful could they have been?
They broke up for 14 years starting in 1986, and didn't release another album for 25 years, that's why.
The early 80s music scene wasn’t really about having a sense of humour, unfortunately. Happy Families is a classic.
A song to die to.. utterly gorgeous>
Grown man in his 50s here. Am I soft for finding this a beautiful song? 80s music was just wow!

If you love this track Alan check out the song Ocean Rain, the title track of the 1984 Echo and the Bunnymen album.
Probably one of the most beautiful & melancholy songs
of ALL time ❤😢

Super 👌 song and band Blancmange❤❤❤❤😊
This video is so ahead of its time. That mermaid took a shellfie at 2:56.
lol. It was a mirror and I'd be staring at myself in it too if I had that fabulous headdress on.
They just don't make music this good anymore. The 80's videos were so incredible and we did not realize it.
Think a little harder. Looking at them now, a lot of the vids were woeful.
Beautiful song. Don't remember this one from the 80s but now I need to listen to more of his music
Most underrated 80s band ever I love them. Neil Arthur is so gorgeous too 😭 🔥❕
I saw him first; he's mine.
Not by me

Definitely underrated.

the last single to chart in aus sadly for Blancmange, hitting the bottom 100 at 99 in 1983. emotionally beautiful song Neil

Great to a see the enhanced video. A cracking song that has endured time and still goes down well when Neil performs it at gigs.

Not heard this for ages what a great song liked living on the ceiling but this was way better

lovely music in the 80s - now, after all these years, I finally do understand the text ... times not kind ... I remember the way we ...

As a Cornishman, had never noticed that the video is filmed out of Newlyn.
Sweet! I didn't know that one. Found a gem!
Always loved this song. The good old days. Thank you for the memories.

Roxy Music's mermaids just kind of wandered over onto Blancmange's set.

One of the most beautiful songs ever written. It is right up there with Vapour Trails by Ride.
Shame Andy Luscombe's illness stopped him from continuing touring, still health is the lost important gift we have. Neil carries on.
