The only reason they pay for Plasma donations in the US is because they are making profit from those donations. I seriously wish I had the means to donate plasma to help in someway. The nearest place where I could donate is about 3-4 hours away and I can't afford the travel. I have made an effort to donate blood in general though, which is worth the snack you get afterwards!
Yeah, America's pretty good at recognizing what motivation people might need for various activities. The idea of someone benefitting from my plasma donation isn't real since there's no visual or verbal confirmation that someone was helped by your donation. Unless I am seeing pictures of the people who benefit from my plasma donations, there is no real sense of "I'm doing something good to help someone in need". I know that my donations might help people who need plasma, but the people receiving the plasma are so far removed from the donors that it's really hard to balance out "I'm sitting here with a needle in my arm for an hour and a half" with "a person's life might be saved because of the plasma being donated here" since you never see the person whose life is saved. By allowing plasma companies to pay for donations, the US very effectively encourages people of all ages to spend about 4-5 hours per week donating in return for a decent chunk of change per donation. It's generational too: my parents both donated plasma while they were in college, and now I've started to donate as well. From all my time donating I've seen people from all ages and sizes come in to donate because the time they're spending is valuable and they are compensated as such.
I really hope that medical tech gets to the point that we can cure many of these diseases. As i think many of us who follow both Connor and Ironmouse, look forward to the day that Connor can be her guide in person.
Connor is so right. I remember Dr Mike mentioned how everyone should always get a third and fifth opinion from other doctors. Especially if something serious is happening. Because a lot of doctors either don’t care and will just throw medicine at you OR they genuinely aren’t knowledgeable on a topic that specifically affects you.
I think you should do your research next time. His best friend has CVID which is one part that the IDF is active in and plasma is what helps keep her alive and healthy. Not looking into something before sharing your bigoted comments just makes you look like you're not as intelligent as I think you are. I hope you can show your intelligence better in the future. All the best.
@@codenamepyro2350that basically happens during the video, a commentator asked his views on the IDF, Israeli Defence Force, in the middle of Connor taking about the charity. Connor is not a political personality, thank god, and probably wants to stay that way.
As someone with various health issues, this means a lot. It is true. If you are not in the demographic or if the medical professional is not aware the patient is often not tested.
Connor is one of the few TH-camrs I know that seems genuinely passionate about the charity he’s trying to support. It’s just one thing to have an influential platform to talk about important causes, it’s another thing to show that you are passionate about it.
Before i started watching mouse. I had zero clue that this was an actual thing going on and happening and seeing mouse push through and have amazing progress and doing amazing things is huge for the community and for the cvid community as well especially bc it brings alot more awareness to this.
They just need to start letting high school age kids donate everywhere. My school used to have a blood drive every few months, in the middle of the school day. You can bet your ass we all did it to skip class.
Same. This is where I started donating from and learned that I actually could since I'd always had my health making me think I couldn't, but I can. Yay
I know that monke is just tryna talk about the charity or the IDF and we love to hear it and we want to know where is the money going what the progress is and what should we do next to improve awareness for CVID, sadly some chats is focusing on other IDF and they talk about something else there. I think we know that connor and most of the chats cares about politics, but connor's stream is not the right place to talk about politics. unfortunately, they have to change their names so people can focus on the charity, not unrelated politics.
This actually goes for your own personal donating too. There was an economist who talked about it... if you actually care about a cause you would give the majority of your donations to it and give more. If you tend to spread out your donations, you don't care as much about any one thing and tend to give less.
You would still have people getting confused what ID means. I wish people would have more sense and take context into consideration but there's always people that will just assume their first guess is the correct one.
The first time its brought up in every conversation its just good manners to say the full name, why should everyone know what the acronym means - IDF is all the acronym for the international diabetes federation so just knowing its to do with medical issues is not enough context
@@majorclanger8857 While true, I think it's pretty obvious most people who go "IDF?", whether serious or trolling, are referring to the Israeli Defense Force. I imagine it's especially hard with streams though since you never know when in the conversation someone is tuning in.
@@Apropoetic I agree of course. If these streamers saw a real backlash from ppl not understanding the acronym, which they arent as you say it's trolling or just joking mostly, then they should just say the charity's full name at all times, not exactly difficult. That's my point really.
Being specialized to one specific charity isn't a bad thing at all. You can be a lot more involved and understanding, as well as keeping up with current research.
For such a noble cause, it is rather unfortunate that "IDF" is the acronym they just happened to go by. What are the ods???? Just selecting 3 random english letters, it's a 1 in 17,576 (aka 26^3) chance.
I actually donated my first pint of blood yesterday due to mousey! I’m not able to donate plasma due to their piercings rules (blood connection says I can donate as long as my piercing was done with single use stuff, but the plasma says I can no matter what until the time passes) but I will once I pass the piercing wait time!!
I had no idea that every (most?) contries beside the US don’t have Pay insentives for donations. That’s wild. Even as someone with trypanophobia the money add on to the general greatness that is donating has been quite tempting. (Alas the phobia is too strong. V_v)
I want to give a bit more context to the plasma donation situation, especially in the USA: the TH-cam channel Boy Boy did a really good video on the donation situation. The video has a bizarre research theme on beauty operations but takes a sharp turn. Greatly simplified: poverty is a pushing force to get some money through donations. It isn't the case that I am wanting to say "donations are bad". It is more to give context to the greater picture. If you are able to donate you are helping to save people! That is the message for everyone. If you are donating to have an existence minimum you are still helping to save people but your country is bad. That's all towards the context of that topic. Great clip and great charity work cdawg is doing ❤️
You can find out where and how in your area by looking up plasma donations and your area and city name. For those wondering. I found out how by doing this and using the plasma donation website in my area. It showed me where near me was a center that is legit to donate to.
Here's a rule of thumb, if you see a lot of charity organisations under one event or name, it's either purely for money laundering or for mostly money laundering. To be fair even when for money laundering, theres still benefits to the receiving end, but at a great cost of creating corruption and politics in a field where none of these should exist.
Wait, people were hating on Connor because they confused suporting the IDF with supporting Isreal? What a stupid thing to do. First off, people need to actually research things before attacking people so they are better equipped to bring up real criticisms and concerns. Secondly, I'm getting real tired of people just jumping on the bandwagon because of their misguided feelings about a subject because it just makes the actual real concerns more difficult to discuss. Third, and this is all I'm going to say about this, the situation over in the Middle East is way more complicated than anyone actually seems to realize. It's not about "This side is attacking the other side so obviously this side is bad" it's about a long brewing hatred between two peoples, decades of terrorist attacks on BOTH sides, and religious beliefs that are in conflict with each other. Reducing it to "not supporting Palestine is antisemitic" just proves how ignorant people are of what has actually been going on. There is no innocent side to the war in the Middle East right now, and that is what is making it so hard for people to understand. All of that being said I hope that all of those that were pulled into the war unwillingly are staying safe and/or getting to safer areas because I really don't think there is going to be a happy ending. One last thing: Please support the Immune Deficiency Foundation.
Well the creator of this clips channel just liked a comment talking about the "good" and "evil" IDF that got x10 the likes this comment did. So it seems like a people could benefit from the nuance you are talking about.

Look at this Gigachad
Connor is truly such a great human being.
He was the secret protagonist all along.
Seriously one of the good guys
Connor is so right. I remember Dr Mike mentioned how everyone should always get a third and fifth opinion from other doctors. Especially if something serious is happening. Because a lot of doctors either don’t care and will just throw medicine at you OR they genuinely aren’t knowledgeable on a topic that specifically affects you.
This is the IDF I want to support.
Oh man just thinking about how hard this dude works for IDF makes me tear up
Sometimes to fight a rare disease greater need to volunteer for studies.
“Hey Connor, share your opinion on an armed conflict with whom you don’t share any connection to”
What a dick.
Right? Very awkward and off topic
@@cheyennemoore8380 is this ironic, or did you just reply under the wrong comment?
@@codenamepyro2350that basically happens during the video, a commentator asked his views on the IDF, Israeli Defence Force, in the middle of Connor taking about the charity. Connor is not a political personality, thank god, and probably wants to stay that way.
I know I started donating plasma during Connors 2nd cyclethon and I've been doing so ever since
It’s good he is honest about why and what he is doing. I do think the message is diluted if someone supports too many charities
As someone with various health issues, this means a lot. It is true. If you are not in the demographic or if the medical professional is not aware the patient is often not tested.
I wish I could donate plasma, but these charity streams have made me want to
Connor is one of the few TH-camrs I know that seems genuinely passionate about the charity he’s trying to support.
I just miss blood donation in my local area because i sick so bad right now T_T
It's ok! Donate when you can next time. Let it not be something you forget if you feel bad for not getting to this time. Glad you're healthy again
Bro the fucking chat whenever he said "IDF" jfc chat really does share one braincell
I love this, but we should really push for the name change to at least "ID Foundation"
I'm sad I can't donate plasma too monke :(
I would donate if I could. Tried before they won't take my plasma
Dude, the chat live so rude and mean.
1:36 I wanna know what he said after ‘what’s going on right now’
I'm glad Connor not only supports the good IDF but is also against the evil IDF.
People interrupting this talk with TTS messages about other social issues just need a little love tap in the throat. Real gentle-like.
is there a specific company we should be donating plasma to?
nah its pretty cool . rather then spread it out and barely make a difference a concentrated effort is way more effective.
Sadly, plasma donations are up because the price of everything has skyrocketed but wages habe been stagnant for forever.
this rocks
Lobbying is good :)
Heres a sub
I want to help but I don’t know how
Donate plasma if you can
You can find out where and how in your area by looking up plasma donations and your area and city name. For those wondering. I found out how by doing this and using the plasma donation website in my area. It showed me where near me was a center that is legit to donate to.
Connor gigachad
So proud of monke for keeping the iron dome running. Israel owe you big time.
Lol the children always support the losing parties in war.
Saying IDF instead of Immune Deficiency Foundation will get people very confused if they don't have context lol
I'm really happy to see Connor not with the other IDF
This is what I've been thinking too and I'm glad you said it so well. Thank you for helping people learn what they should know first before spouting off nonsense.
If they cant change it, they could at least start saying ID Foundation or something
using america as a example
Wait didnt the japanese government ban outdoors streaming?
Since he lives and technically works in Japan, his outdoor streams count as something work related I think.
At least that's what I remember him explaining in a stream
Man so this guy built vtubers smh
Ironmouse Defense Fund 🫡
How much is israel defence force paying him?
The free palestine in the tchat is so cringe …
It s a live for IDF but garbage people come with a war …
I mean Connor is a guy with decent morals, why wouldn't he support Palestine
@@youraveragepasser-by7367 cause it s not the subject ... this live is for sick people not war
You might have valuable reasons but have some respect and dignity
Emma if u see this clip u a real one.
3:06 was an L dono though
@@_Cerb_Oof, I didn't realize that's who sent the message. Not a huge deal but certainly not the time or place imo.
What a terrible name... IDF.
