As a piano player, I found that the computer glasses were the perfect prescription for being able to read sheet music, since while sitting at the piano the sheet music will be about the same distance as a computer screen. I was getting to the point where the sheet music was just a blur, but using my computer glasses for this solved the problem.
I used to get eye strain and my eyes would start to hurt a Lot after like 10 hour of gaming or working on pc and getting new glasses with a blue light coating actually helped me and now I can go on playing for 10 hour straight and at the end of the day, my eyes wont hurt so its a huge adventage
Hey Doc, So, it turns out I don’t have diabetic retinopathy. I went to a retina care specialist today and My retinas look great! I have cataracts! The last thing I would have thought of! But now I’m seeing there’s a connections between diabetes and cataracts, which I had not learned prior to today. It seems it’s mostly the right eye which has a prescription of 10+ which is so thick. I feel like my eyes are crossing and apparently there’s one on the left eye, but it’s must not as bad because that vision hasn’t changed all the drastically. ….. and after all that worry I didn’t even need an eye speculum…..😉 (Thank God!)
Good to hear your retinas look great! Sorry to hear about the cataracts, but the good news is that cataracts can be fully corrected for with cataract surgery. Thanks for the update. 🙂
Hey doc it would be so nice of you to make a new video bout best monthly contact lenses comparing different brands and share your thoughts and tell us which is the best and also the most value for money option for us in the market in 2024 🧡🧡🧡
All of my Rx glasses have had blue light coating I also have a Rx pair of office glasses (more than computer there's 22in. & bit closer for looking down on desk) My glasses are transitional multifocal.
You left out Office Glasses. Some people use the term Office / Computer glasses interchangeably but they are not the same. Office glasses are a type of progressive that you could read a computer with and a few feet beyond maybe 10 -15 feet or so. You can see coworkers faces or to the next cubical clearly for example. But not farther, so you cant drive a car with them.
Yeah, pretty unique. They have a set prism amount at the upper portion of the glasses, and then gradually increases prism toward the bottom of the glasses. Kind of like Progressives with ADD power, but this is with Prism.
So if you have 20/20 vision, magnification glasses are still beneficial? I was always under the assumption that prescription/magnification in lenses damages good/proper vision.
Omg dr I swear I was just thinking about that So I bought blue light glasses from Amazon and I am weaning it since that day but my eyes is burning a lot I just took them off and notice little bit of relief is ts the glasses the reason ?
Not sure what the exact reason would be, but something with the glasses is not working well with your eyes... either the tint/filter, power if there is any, or base curve/warpage of the lenses.
It really depends on the person. There are people that have perfect vision, but may have digital eye strain from working on the computer all day long, and they could benefit from computer glasses.
Exciting! I would shadow eye docs as much as you can. See if you can get a job at an eye doc office as either a tech or working in optical to get some hands on experience.
I'm too worried about becoming reliant on the computer glasses and/or having my vision being altered by them so I think I'll stick with the blue light glasses.
What if by looking at a computer screen and accommodating, combined with not going outside, makes your eyes become more nearsighted and more blurry in the distance?
@@DrEyeGuy Exactly. NOT wearing the glasses hasn't done that over a few decades of heavy screen use. But several anecdotes I've heard online seem to point to that being the case with glasses after as little as a year or two.
Your comment highlights your misunderstanding of what computer glasses actually do. Heavy screen use, without glasses, combined with no low time spent outdoors has shown an increase in nearsightedness over the decades. Part of those studies show that we are accommodating at near too much... computer glasses would reduce that. But... thats only part of the issue.
@@DrEyeGuy I guess so. From my uninformed perspective they just seem gimmicky at best and potentially harmful at worst. I've always been told that wearing wrong prescriptions can be hazardous, so why would wearing something that is essentially a slight-prescription not be slightly hazardous?

I’ve been using “reading glasses” for my tablet. I don’t need them to focus, but I find them much more relaxing to use. I’m using 1.75 now. Would it hurt me to max out on the magnification to take it a step further? Like would wearing 2.5+ cause any issues if I don’t necessarily need them?
Is it bad/detrimental to use these as someone who has 20/20 vision but uses a computer a lot of the day for work? As an audio engineer, we use earplugs in loud environments as a preventative measure to ensure our ears still work in our late careers, so I'm curious whether it's worth it to also use such glasses as a protective measure so I can still view my screen easily in old age..?
