Sometimes being in the game on the field can overstimulate your senses and cause you to miss calls or misinterpret information, a calm ref behind the cameras would be able to compensate for those misinterpretations. Although, if the NFL wants their games to be rigged they wouldn’t seek to fix the problem.

for the record, the NFL rule about being hit out of bounds states that the defender must make an attempt to avoid contact to an individual if or as they step out of bounds, Mahomes foot touched out of bounds before contact and the guy made no move to pull up, or avoid contact, thats why the penalty was called, even if the play was as close as you claim ( which it wasn't) its still a penalty
