Hi Anna. I have been watching your videos every day. I definitely will be making your recipes. Both sides of my grandparents came from Poland. My Fathers Dad came from Plock. I love your little tours from the car. Makes me feel like I am in the "Homeland". Your husband Mark is very entertaining!
Prayers that you all stay safe. You are a beautiful person. Keep the videos coming. And because of you I am learning some polish. And I have been eating some of these meals all my life and did not even know they were polish!!

Interesting recipe. All four of my grandparents came from Poland at the turn of the 20th century and no one that I know made/makes this. What we call “babka” is a yeasted egg bread with raisins. I think that Rusyns and Ukrainians call it paska/pascha.

I just found you! Your videos bring back memories of my Babcia cooking and baking at home. I am 55 years old and I do my best to keep Babcia's recipes, memories and most of all the Polish traditions. I have always wanted to learn Polish but, my Mother taught me some useful phrases and of course some of the not so nice words and phrases. LOL! I enjoy you and Mark! Thank you for all that you do! miłego dnia, mój przyjacielu

Even if we weren't making a cake; we learned to keep the butter wrapper for greasing pans.

A beautiful recipe! Anna, here's a tip for folding in egg whites: first fold in 1/4 of the egg whites. This will loosen your dough or batter. Then fold in the remaining 3/4. Cake will be light and fluffy. A fan who is also a retired pastry chef.

It's beautiful and looks delish! I use a pastry brush to spread the butter in my bundt pan. Gets all the grooves nicely.

Looks gorgeous and delicious! I think the word you wanted was “beat” as in “Beat the butter and sugar until they are light and fluffy.” 😊

I am definitely making this for Easter. When I go get my Easter Basket Blessed, there is always 4-5 Families. I wonder if I can find a small bundt pan, this might be a nice offering for their Meal. So when it is done, the toothpick will come out clean? You are an incredible teacher. I think getting it all prepared in portions is the way to go. I rarely do this but it makes it ton easier. I am intimidated by Baking so this might be a good discipline for good results. Thanks for showing us

Anna, great videos. My grandparents came from Poland to the US almost 150 yrs ago. It would be interesting to talk about the history of some of these recipes. For example your last one, aspic, was good for keeping food fresh longer.

150 years ago Poland was still partitioned, it was for 123 years.
Food history from those times have even different names in parts of Poland for the dishes.

Looks delicious. I will definitely try. Also, do you know of something else similar to what my grandmother used to make every Easter also. It was made with yeast and light orange flavoring, maybe orange rind, had a crumb topping, and baked in a loaf pan. She called it a kuchen. Would love to recreate this.

Sounds like yeast "babka" topped with orange peel. I make mine in a bundt pan, but I also see it prepared in loaf pan. Link to recipe: www.polishyourkitchen.com/polish-yeast-babka-with-raisins-babka-drozdzowa-z-rodzynkami/

Are you two afraid of what's brewing between Ukraine and Russia? Here in the states we are hearing that many from the Ukraine are coming over to Poland.
I tell you I feel like I am never going to make my trip to Poland to look up my family members.

Hi Susan! Mark is watching the situation very closely. Fortunately we are on the western border of Poland, very close to Berlin, so if the situation dictated that we leave, then we are in a very good location. I'm sure everything will be ok. Thank you so much for your concern for us, and thanks for watching!!
