The thrill of the hunt - and then the accomplishment of finding what you set out to look for - is the best part (for me). Glad you were able to get out in the fresh air. 👍🏻
You've got to remember,AIRBORNE, that maggots are a great source of protein! At least that's what we were taught in our JUNGLE WARFARE TRAINING in Panama. You fry-up them worm ridden porchinis in some butter and....yummmmmmm!
You're absolutely right about finding them being the fun part. We are from the UK and have found bay boletes growing out of stairs outside supermarkets. Never found a porcini... One day
I live in the city but I'm originally from the woods never missed it until I started watching your outdoor videos now every couple of weeks I head out to the sticks with my kayak and spend the weekend camping and prospecting, glad your okay brethren and thank you for all your videos I got back something I thought was gone forever
Shane so happy to know that you tested negative. You look well and I enjoyed this video. Maybe people can now feel better about you and your health. Never been to Colorado and the beauty is amazing. I loved seeing you get out to nature. Thanks for the video. 🥰🥰
You should do a video on how to prepare them to eat. I love mushrooms but don't know much about them and use your videos as educational. Thanks for what you do Klesh!
You look like you are feeling better.... Had a friend lose 16 family members - STILL be aware, stay safe and healthy....great shrooms as always - loved that EPIC purple wood 👍💕
My wife and I need to join the Puget Sound Mycological Society. We both LOVE mushrooms, and, the PNW is known for quite the variety. Thanks for sharing, and, glad to hear you are over Covid......🍄🍄🍄
In South Africa we have much fewer forests so fewer porcini but when we find them they’re never buggy, wonder why the ones in America get buggy and these don’t… Great video!
The insects in your area may be deterred by particular compound produced by them where as the bugs here may have evolved to handle said compounds due to food availability or something.
Nice hunt video. I was out backpacking a couple of weeks ago around ~9500 feet and was finding boletes and amanitas as well. I didn't inspect for worms, just noted their location for another time.
Very big walk, you must be on the mend Bud. I've had it and felt as if I was breathing my last in the night. Took 2 weeks to recover. Glad you are better
The first find was a Cortinarius sp. most of witch are toxic. And fun fact, recently the genus of Cortinarius was split into 8 new genus. Amanita muscaria, are edible, but must have proper preparation for them. Look up how to cook A. muscaria for food. Its basically 2 boils with fresh water in each boil, then cook to eat. That's the basics, but do research beforehand. They are on my top 10 favorites to eat. When boletus sp. are buggy try cutting the stipe (stem) closer to the cap. I have found they tend to start at the base and move slowly towards the cap. It helps to even cut them from top to bottom, this will give a better look at the progress of the larvae. The buff ball is a Lycoperdon sp. probably Lycoperdon pyriforme. Love the content, I hope the effects of 19 are just short term. Glad to see you getting back out in the wild.
that amanita muscaria at 4:30 is looking more like amanita pantherina i see here in belgium quite often, but they are most likely a muscaria var flavivolvata amanita trips are tricky, and you go through a stage at first which is unpleasant.. they aren't as potent in europe and where you are either, the stronger ones are said to grow in siberia.. better to stick with psilocybe semilanceata or p cubensis.. or wavy caps..
Well done Shane.. Well our Puccini season is about over.. Had a good feed of them ..I personally don’t find them. A friend of mine did and gave me some.. Have a wonderful Week. Cheers from fellow TH-camr Famo59 👍🍻⛏🤓
@@ShirlBussman Hi Shirl.. Awesome to hear from you and I appreciate your support and you are a legend.. Speaking to my back surgeon tomorrow as the left side of my spine is playing up a bit so hopefully we can sort it out. God bless you.. Cheers 🥂
How do you get mushrooms already? I’m west of you and it’s dry as a bone here. Do you get rain from the gulf? I think that’s a gemmed amanita actually. Also, in Europe they strip the caps when they sell them in stores. Boletus edulus that is.
Klesh It is beautiful there while you are there looking for mushrooms I'd be looking for ginseng root there is a certain flower I forgot what color I think it's red that grows above them It depends on the size of the ginseng root to how much you'll get paid Ginseng root is worth a lot of money There is ginseng buyers that will pay top dollar for them BRENT
Don't try the toad stool unless you like tripping for hours , I personally like psychedelics but some people don't so unless you do please don't try it ✌️
Here's what I found on the amanita muscira What are the effects of Amanita muscaria? Effects on Behavior Amanita muscaria contains muscimol that produces feelings of euphoria, hallucinations, muscle jerks, drowsiness, sweating, pupil dilation, and increased body temperature. Symptoms appear 30 to 90 minutes after eating this mushroom and are most intense after two or three hours.
Are there any bears in Colorado?! Cuz I faced bears in Vancouver twice and thank god I got companies. Sometimes, in any forest it’s better bring a licensed rifle or come with someone.
I always carry my trusty S&W .357 with appropriate ammunition whenever venturing up into no man’s land here in Colorado. When traveling to places such as Alaska, my first stop is a sporting goods store for some bear spray.
Omggggg noooooo cut tge whole stem off.....sometimes it's just the stems that buggies are in .....omg I live in Denver and found a TON OF PORCINIS this year lol so much rain

Nice!! I go hunting for Hen/ Chicken of the Woods and Golden Oyster Mushrooms apart from the Morel season. Good stuff bro!
Love the mushies as much as the pay dirt videos
Bout time you post something here that brought me to you lol. Been enjoying the other channel though.
Great to have you back on the go and feeling better! Great find on the Coors can; haha!

Boletus Edulis...a classic hunt here in Biscay...
Sorry you were poorly nice to see you getting better and to see a video that's not over a year old is ace lol.
Hope you feel better soon!
I used to go mushroom hunting all the time with a friend, I lived in Evergreen. We had a good spot up Brook Forrest.
My daughters and I were up Sunday. No shrooms but we found tons of raspberries!!
Come down to Taos NM and i'll show you the spots! We have the bolete pinophilus that grows on ponderosas, delicious!

Amanita muscaria are magic af 👌😅
@@IamBATMAN2024, they can be "magical" if preparation is done differently than for food.
@@JoeSmith05 yeah
I would never eat a mushroom in the forest no matter how sure I was. As their way of pollination is so weird to me. I think your very brave.
I grew up as a hunter and forager so it’s very second nature to me. Eating grocery store food is weird to me 👍
At least you didn’t have a Sasquatch jump and run on like a couple of vids ago! Ha! Great content Ol’ Bud!!
That’s cool that you found some. Sucks that they were all buggy tho. Didn’t get to eat them I assume. 👊
I also had the 19 2 weeks ago but I was fine no symptoms
Happy day Shane from "dude Matt up in Seattle".
hope you are feeling better. ..i might get one more stab at the porchini hunt and than off to the smokies and maybe lions mane. thanks for the video.
@Shane...I got it Thursday after July 4th!
@zic_trips on Instagram sells good stuff no thanks... but thanks for offering... 🤷🏻♂️

Not necessary
I’m missing the gold panning on the river videos 😫
I think those are actually birch boletes but they taste great too
Amanita muscaria are not deadly they’re like “magic mushrooms” very trippy! You can actually smoke them once they’re dried out 😅
I was wondering how you were breathing up there.
Time to forage for some chaga to give health boost mr! ..take us with pls via youtube 😄

It rains enough some years that we have a good flush or Porcini this part of the world.
Sometimes the journey is what it's all about. I even enjoy finding non-edible mushrooms.

Getting away in nature is great medicine
The bugs and worms have to eat too! 🙂
That’s true!
Klesh my man I'd really like to see a hunt for the mountain Lion it would be epic
spore out!!!!!!
Is this boletus edulis? It looks a lot like boletus pinophilus. I dont know if they grow in america?
Yes boletus edulis
carry your mushrooms in a netted bag etc etc so you can drop spores along your travels!
Always do 👍

Some years they're just buggy

I have bucket full of these dehydrated from last year. I like to let them spore out if they’re buggy.
Interesting that the number of subscriber is 42%. Isn't 42 the key to the universe?
Amanita muscaria are poisonous but not deadly so would still not try to eat them.
Amanitas like that are not deadly. You need proper preparation for them. Not worth the challenge.
take the spores and grow your own! its not hard to do.
I do grow mushrooms at home, but unfortunately I don't live in an area with conditions or correct elevation, or with trees symbiotic with Porcini
Don't eat amanita muscaria/fly agaric 😬🥴
Man, I felt your dissapointment. For real
It’s alright the bugs need to eat too
