One thing: you give a nice mini-clinic on how to get so many sounds out of this simple set-up. Your technique supports the sound so much; people should take note. Great demo! You should be the demo guy for G&L because you really break it down in detail, and with conviction! Thanks.
This is probably the best demo of the SB-1 I've seen. You really nailed the wide range of capabilities and tones - from traditional P-bass R&B tones to more modern aggressive rock, and amazing slap. I was incredibly lucky to stumble on an '88 SB-1 when I was 12, and am still finding new tones in it over 20 years later.
That tone reminds me of my old 71 Pbass. Just a tad brighter which is a good thing. I miss that bass and you got me thinking this one, might fill that long lost gap. Thanks.
Just picked up an SB-1 in Margarita Metallic, maple neck matching HS. Can’t wait till it gets back here to Orange County. This thing sounds phenomenal and Dan is a killer player.
Great video !!! I love everything I've heard and seen about these beasts, I have one in okoume body coming soon !! I'm super exited and can't wait to get it and jam !! Cheers !!!
THIS is what a bass demo should be, showing what it sounds like and what makes it different from other basses. Things like the fat and even sound all the way up the g string, the range of tones from vintage to modern, how the volume pot controls tone, how it isn't noisy, doesn't drop out on certain notes or strings and how useful and well made a tool it is for producing music in a band. Not someone slapping the thing incessantly.
The hard-to-believe hotness and and wide-ranging tonal fullness of the SB-1's pickup cannot be over-stated. I played an SB-1 for nine years and never felt sonically limited in any situation.
I have a Tribute series SB-2 and I can confirm; these pickups are hot. Hottest pickups I’ve ever heard. I have a G&L JB and the SB-2 outclasses it in volume every. Single. Time.
G&L simple doesn't get the respect it deserves great instruments their basses are insane! I Love G&L and want to by an L-2000 and either an S100 or ASAT in the future. I Love THem!
I have 3. I used to be a big music man guy and they're great but man those g&l's have a cut that's gotta be heard. 2 L2000 basses and my beloved LB100.

the fact is, G&L is still so unknown in many people's eyes.... i personally like it that way :)

Great review! Thank you, Dan for a thorough going over. Sounding great!

Yess! Great demo!
Excellent demo. G&L rules!
Are those MFD Pickups different from the CLF Research LB-100 Split Coil Bass Pickup Set
Absolutely
Voice and tone clearly more than standard P Bass. Lightweight and very hot sound. G+L does it again. Buy NOW
Tasteful riffing! How would the LB-100 compare to this SB-1?
The lb100 is more of a traditional sounding precision style bass, the pickup is more tame

Amazing playing! Are you using flat wounds on it in this demo? Best demo I’ve heard with this bass! Thank you! 🙏🏽🎸
A quality set of flats would tame that beast to a warm thumping machine with mojo pop!
Hello! Beautiful bass! Is this Emerald Blue Metallic? Thank you.
I had an original white SB-2 from the 80's. Just like the red one on the wall behind him.
$250, brand new at Sam Ash on 47th.(w/ hardshell case)
What particular color is this?
great bass but i ended up getting an LB-100 usa
Dynamic range though.
So glad you got out of that awful house......
