I think he broke Magnus Carlson winning steak in Classical at Norway Chess. He is still young. I would say he has a bright future ahead of him but unfortunately he is Russian which means he is going to be living under a mad dictator under horrible conditions. Hope he will not be casualty of Putin’s regime.

And the second reason, 2. he's a guy, an opposite sex to her, that's why he is probably attractive to her, and it brought that emotions to higher level. I am 1400 and sometimes I don't believe that even a grandmaster can beat me with knight odd, as I assume that I can just play solidly, exchange pieces, and at least draw, but after watching this I realized that I would be destroyed by a grandmaster with even queen odds
that is so true, i thought like that for very long, but then i played some higher rated players, even if i managed to get a great position they were always able to trick me, I also once played bortnyk and he mated me in 15 moves, btw i am also 1400

Obviously not saying he's better than him yet but he is at the very least an absolutely sensational talent of the new generation! To give some more context he is currently one of only TWO players under 20 years rated over 2700; If it weren't for Alireza Firouzja he is who everyone would be watching to someday maybe replace Carlsen! So awesome to watch Anna go up against such a player!!
Despite the current elo difference, i think that Esipenko and Alireza are more or less on the same level, just Alireza had a stroke of good games in the past few months and Esipenko the opposite. I expect their elo to match in the following 2-3 years.
