Deadlifts at the end of a back workout.... Never thought about prefatigue for something like a deadlift. Makes perfect sense to target more back and les Hamstrings and glute.

Akshually, the back hamstrings and glutes would take over more, the more fatigued the back is, but I guess that if the weight is low you can control it more so you have a better mind-muscle connection with the back.

I am interested in your Renaissance periodization app but all that I could find was the diet app. Is there a different name I should be looking for? Does it line out with specific exercises on a six or seven day regimen? Could you do a video on TH-cam talking about exactly how to use the app the best way possible? Thank you for putting out such great content. It is very inspiring for a guy nearly 40 and looking to push the limits without injury. I also work in Fire and Rescue.

Dr. Mike "Make sure to do warm-ups for your pull-ups". Never thought that's a thing, i've been jumping into weighted pull-ups without any warm-ups for like a year. Never really seemed necessary, although it's probably beneficial in the long run.

Great for injury prevention. Good for mind muscle connection too. Another thing you can do is do 2 or 3 reps with 110% of the weight you will be using. I've been doing this for this meso and it makes you feel like working weight is peanuts. Another tip from Mike.

Dr. Mike, today I started my deload of my 2nd mesocycle, during this meso I started doing front z-bar rows. I haven't stopped doing lateral rises, reverse flys, overhead press, however, for the first time in over a year I don't feel any pain in my shoulder(s). I can't claim that it was the front rows that did the trick, but I don't feel any pain neither in my shoulders nor in my elbows and that was the only new exercise I started. Maybe front bar rows have a bad reputation.

Would it be worth it to add a cambered bar to my home gym? I already get plenty of stretch with a standard barbell on bench, so I probably would be doing any pressing with it. Are there any other exercises that a cambered bar might be useful for?

So is the reason the last rep (and slow eccentric) are so good for growth is that the last of the unused muscle fibers are hitting their contraction stimulus threshold? I've heard a large portion of the fibers don't contract except in an emergency situation hence why people can lift a car off a child or whatever with insane nerve signals. Do those last reps close to failure make use of the those fibers that never fire on the first rep?

Bunch of good suggestions here. I do band or cable facepulls as a warmup for basically all my upper body work. Bands are really easy to use at home. You can also do banded lat pulldowns from the pullup bar, straight arm lat pressdowns/lat prayers with a band, or any rowing variation available to you. If I'm rowing to warm up, I like to go to a narrow grip / tuck my elbows so I can hit my lats a little better. I also like hammer curls to warm up the elbows💪
