When breaking down Shipmaster's hero unit, I mispoke and claimed that the Honor Guard would be better if it had invisibility. When fully upgraded, the Honor Guard does become invisible and this makes the unit very good. Again, I blanked on the part, and I believe that the hero unit is decent when fully upgraded. --Nick
Just started playing halo wars 2 a few weeks ago, never played the first. Thanks to these videos I have already started to win ranked solo and 2v2 matches. They are a big help. Great content
My favourite leader also the most OP if you use him correctly. Displacement can totally screw an enemy push, just displace his counter units and your good or if you have a lot of counter units displace the bulk of the enemy's force into your army.
Nice video dude, I used to like Shipmaster in the early stages of the game but went off him, might have to come back to him sometime. Now a question for the people. Does anyone else think the Shroud looks like a smaller version of the Reapers from Mass Effect? XD
this was phenomenal. listened to this while cleaning. very detailed so I didnt even have to actually watch it to know what you were talking about. my only suggestion would be you used the word "it" a lot when referring to a particular unit which is fine but I had to pull out my phone at times to see which unit you were talking about. not necessary to say the units full name constantly but if you throw the name in their once in a while it would be sweet. thanks a ton for this video. it was great
Love this leader. It reminds me of some of the mechanics for the covenant leaders in halo wars 1, like the leaders being able to transport troops and recalling them back.
For mass cloaking, it says "While cloaked, units gain a speed boost and a small siphon effect" Do you know if that continues even if they are detected? So like if I pop my ability, but then they push in with a detect unit, once they are detected do they lose their speed boost and siphon?
Great vid Nick. I think you covered everything as far as what's effective. However, I would recommend going over why other units and strategies don't really work with the leader. For example, why aren't banshees or wraiths as viable? What specific scenarios do you think the leader could actually be good for? Either way, great first vid, you did a solid job here.
Hey Isaiah! When making the strategy part of this video, I wanted to show off what compliments Shipmaster's abilities. Banshees and wraiths are fine options, but they don't compliment the hit and run aspect that I really enjoy with Shipmaster. I would favor wraiths with Decimus or Atriox, but I will go over this in those particular videos. Thank you for the feedback! - Nick
You got it Nick! That's definitely a fair point, your analysis of shipmaster strategies makes a lot of sense. I should be using him as more of a hit and run character, which I haven't been doing effectively. Thank you for the in-depth knowledge of this character, I'm looking forward to the next one!
Are you going to make a updated video for shipmaster to see if he is still viable? I'm new I heard locusts got a nerf is the shipmaster locust build still viable?
True. Though as most detect units are anti air or anti infantry you sometimes find people forget about them when you have a mostly vehicle army. You can also displace them away and kill the rest of their army/destroy their base before they get back
I find it extremely useful for base killing. Teleport your units (locusts usually) focus the sensor towers, once those are gone, boom cloak. Turrets are now useless.
True about the anti air and infantry, but don't forget the healers on both Banished and UNSC are also detect units, and almost everyone will have a couple nightingales or engineers
The shipmaster is good for scouting, since he's possibly the quickest unit, and has permanent camo. Sneak behind enemy base, drop a scout mine. Then you can tactical gateway whenever you want haha
Purge Trooper X38 because i think they will eventually give banished raid to another leader, or they planned to give it to atriox and decimus, since they have choppers, but they forgot about it last minute.. they switch things around alot like atrioxs hero used to be the warlord, as well as jerome was cutters hero but they now have atrioxs chosen and douglas instead
I use ship master like a special forces team. I use a small mix of capable hard hitting units that can drop any thing thrown at it. I cloak em with shrouds and a combinations of mass cloaking. I hit a player who was trying to rush his tech and every thing he threw at me got destroyed since he couldn't see me. Plus if u get in trouble a spirt assault always wins most fights with healing back up.
Great video and very informative for a beginner like me, there's something else that I haven't seen anyone talking about, the effect of veterancy on units, Is it that helpful? thanks.
another recomendation for videos like this, stateing what # of players is this leader best suited for.. for instance anders and isabella are mostley only good in 3v3,while cutter excels great in 1v1s but more options for another unsc in 3v3 instead of a cutter
did u guys know that the colony leader captain can kill 3 scarabs if he is in a garrison and he has to be fully maxed. he only loses his shield but health never goes down
Did you not end up doing all the leader breakdowns at the beginning you say it was heavily requested but there's only 2 in the playlist how do I find the others
beingbeast247 you can always keep a few cyclops and nightangles at your base at all times, this worked in hw1 aganist hawk spam, same principle, hes not bad your force him in direct engagements

No problem Nick, I love the game and I'm loving the channel, keep up the great work!

I wish shipmaster grunts had the elites instead of brutes leading them ... sigh
Don't we all. - Nick
AgeDrain thay do now
Continue to make these breakdowns! They are super useful and very enjoyable to watch! Everything I have wanted in a halo wars 2 youtuber :)

Hey, just discovered you guys and I gotta say I love your content! Keep it up
The Vengeful 'Vadam just saw your H3 Beta vid yesterday! You as well friend! -Slick

Advanced Cloaking II with Mass Cloaking can be very effective if they don't have many 'detect' units
That's the issue. Most people have detector units in their army. -Nick

lol, I've never thought about doing that. -Nick
don't know why banished raid 3 effects choppers when shipmaster doesn't get them
good point lolol - Nick
Purge Trooper X38 because i think they will eventually give banished raid to another leader, or they planned to give it to atriox and decimus, since they have choppers, but they forgot about it last minute.. they switch things around alot like atrioxs hero used to be the warlord, as well as jerome was cutters hero but they now have atrioxs chosen and douglas instead

AgeDrain "always wins most fights"
Good way to utilize him. -nick
wont a patch that changes any of the leader abilities, the leader itself, ghosts, choppers, or jackrabbits render this video useless?
Great video and very informative for a beginner like me, there's something else that I haven't seen anyone talking about, the effect of veterancy on units, Is it that helpful? thanks.

Great suggestion Logan. I'll try to take that into account for the next breakdown! - Nick
great video keep up the good work and the discord community is great and found some awesome players to play with thank you
Thanks, Joshua! Glad you've been enjoyig the discord! -nick
did u guys know that the colony leader captain can kill 3 scarabs if he is in a garrison and he has to be fully maxed. he only loses his shield but health never goes down
mcwaste so can an atriox chosen.. or any sparten max upgrade garrison
Logan Chadwell oh i didn't know that
yeah its a little cheese
Logan Chadwell I have never seen a Spartan capable of that.
It's actually a really viable strategy when you are in a really clutch game and you need to distract your enemy for a bit.
It takes forever for extraction 2 to tp a scarab. So long I've barely tpd 1
Did you not end up doing all the leader breakdowns at the beginning you say it was heavily requested but there's only 2 in the playlist how do I find the others
You may have to just look them up by name in the search
Love it ! Keep it up guys. Do Cutter next !
That is the plan! - Nick
I did the ghosts versus chopper test pre patch with a friend and the ghosts won :(.......
Times have changed. -nick
Banish raid three with wraiths oh my
the possibilities - Nick
Great video man, looking forward to the next ones
Glad you enjoyed, Jess! - Nick
Always wanted to learn Shipmaster lol!

We plan on covering every single leader. -Nick
Oh ok
Breaking the Clutch really haha it’s been a year where ya at?
these are great. keep it up!
Thanks, evan! -nick
no worries! I do have a suggestion.. How about adding how the leader stacks against other leaders? Pro/Cons etc.
Perhaps that will be done when the series is over. I like the suggestion, but we should lay the foundation down first. -nick
people never mess around with shipmaster im gone in 6 mins when i try playing him
He's a deadly leader. - Nick
When does Sergeant Johnson drop?
Next week -Nick
Really helpful thank u
Thanks, Alpha! - Nick
I wish ou could upgrade them into a ultra ghost like in halo 5 ......sigh
That'd be pretty dope. - Nick
great video bro keep it up
Thanks, toxic! -nick
why doesnt presto do vids?
He has never expressed interest in producing content. As for why, I don't know. -Nick
shipmaster is not fun to play against
beingbeast247 you can always keep a few cyclops and nightangles at your base at all times, this worked in hw1 aganist hawk spam, same principle, hes not bad your force him in direct engagements
