I'm so biased being raised in the bay area I was fortunate to make friends with people from all over the world with all walks of life. I absolutely love the similarities and differences between cultures. Hmong people have a very special place in my heart. May we continue to both flourish in the USA!

Hmong are great people....they are warriors....they have the Warriors blood in them....at every gatherings, especially like New Year Celebration, their Warriors Blood start to boil and try to kill each other.....it is very fascinating.....therefore security checks are mandatory at most New Year Celebration.....warriors Blood are boiling over...AaaRrrrrrrrr!!!

Nice look into Hmong, but the Hmong New Year festival is a small/fun part of it. Yea, people dress up/eat/play/take pictures/buy things.
I think Peb caug is the real New Years with a sort or “new harvest/new year” private family thing-staying all night to ensure the incense burns, waking up early for a ritual to pay respect (‘pes tsab’) and doing a temporary “lent” based on your history/clan for 3+days (up to elders). As with all cultures, it’s a cumulative of our daily lives/ family events that make us/define us.
But also, (as with all cultures/families) we shouldn’t try to continue the negative vibes our parents/grandparents have with their siblings/cousins. (Disclaimer: SITUATIONAL…unless it was major unethical behavior-consistent mistreatment /attempted murder/theft…. But the children shouldn’t continue feuds!!!-try to provide a grand gesture/apology to acknowledge the wrong) if there isn’t a good reason that can be provided as to why I can’t help my cousin who I have no negative history with, I will help/ or attend their event(s) if asked and there no time conflicts. Perpetuating negativity only drives families to be strangers. Try some transparency and always wish your family well. We are not perfect and we are working to be more moral/humane/ a better example to our children.
