Fresh accounts can go for as low as $5 each and when you're already paying like $30 a week for a cheat spending $100 for up to 20 fresh accounts is nothing. EDIT: Worth clarifying, this process is against Blizzard TOS, don't do it.
I always give bronze players the benefit of the doubt. They probably don't even realize the soldier is cheating and might think he's cracked and the enemy team is coping because they getting rolled. Having a cheater in your game especially on your team is complicated because not only do you have to monitor how they play, you also have to take what the opposing team is saying at "face value". With that being said the mercy should have known better, not making excuses but I'm giving nuance to the situation.
I mean when your teammate is getting 5k every fight there's no way you don't know. Specially when it's a bronze, no bronze player is hitting headshots this consistently

i’m just gonna say i don’t remember seeing so many videos about cheaters in ow1. i know obviously there were a bunch but not as many as now. the problem is the game is free. all these cheaters getting banned can/will just continue making new accounts each time they get banned. imo they should just make the game no longer free again. 90% of cheaters aren’t gonna waste $70 on a game & risk getting banned.
100% it's because it's free now. No consequences for cheating/getting banned. Before, you'd have to fork over $40 bucks to get your account back. Now you just create a new account and because Blizzard only bans in what seems like 6 months to 1 year increments, they can play for a long time before they actually get banned.

If someone gets banned for cheating, null the game. This is common sense, and every multiplayer game worth its salt does this. Punishes those who get boosted, doesn't punish the team cheated against. It's literally free. Zero reason to not do this. The game is cancelled already if someone gets banned mid game. Why is this not extended to post game bans?

Thats why i love rs6 ranked when i played it, if there is a cheater in one or more of your games. there is something called rank adjustment adds sr or removes sr from your account when the cheater or cheaters get banned. Why cant blizzard do that ?
There is no way that this isn't bannable based just on stats. At least have a trigger for a manual review. There isn't a need for a ban wave for protecting detection methods when it is blatant. I feel bad for these players. If they are worried about accidental bans.....If a new player is destroying lobbies, they are probably a cheater or smurf, and since they didn't pay for the account, a ban isn't going to hurt them anyway. Imagine getting banned for not playing the game how it was designed????

They should have SR adjustments for cheaters , leavers and server issues in ranked. Its just frustrating to loose SR when you cant even play the game properly. Its crazy how they have gone years in a competitive game without any system in place for these factors.

There is no mind games there just ban at sight. Cheaters who hide their cheating can be banned in waves.
Lower ranks seem to have the same problem of not picking heroes to punish the cheater and end up losing the draw. The same happened in a jay cheater vod, used emotes and squishies, and then got rolled by the cheater duo alone.

Yeah the answer for "Why can't we just ban them immediately?" and the reason Blizz does delayed ban waves is the same reason: If the hackers get instantly banned, then they know instantly that their hack didn't work - and they can instantly get started on a hack that will work - and because they would get banned instantly if it doesn't work - they also know 100% when the hack is working It allows the hackers to reverse-engineer the anti-cheat with high degrees of accuracy, and while saving the hacker time by giving him feedback immediately If the hackers get banned sometime later, it may lead them to make false assumptions about which of the hacks they were using got them banned, or false assumptions about when or how they were detected - leading them to make more mistakes in the future and leave the inner workings of the anti-cheat ambiguous so they can't as easily reverse-engineer it
This doesnt excuse not banning people caught blatantly chesting on like streamer games or single players getting mass reported over multiple games not being banned when a quick visual check can tell you "yeah they are cheating" without needing to detect the specific cheat. Its one thing to ban wave cheats to catch mass amounts being spread out so that cheat devs cant quickly patch it as easy, but allowing rage hackers and the most blatant in your face cheating because of it feels lazy and like they dont care about the user experience. Banning someone for being blatant and not even trying to hide it shouldnt really affect cheat devs figuring it out if all it needs is a visual check by someone manually and nothing system side. But instead they are only relying on automatic ban waves and its dumb.
This reminded me of a time I played against an entire team of hackers (except the mercy) who were all probably trying to boost their mercy, the weird thing was this was in qp not comp but either way I’ve seen this happen before and they always have the biggest egos as if it’s not clear they are blatantly locking onto people and killing them. I may only be bronze but how bad at the game do you have to be that you have to hack to either boost yourself or someone else? I swear you can’t even get any enjoyment out of hacking
9:16 I think all games they were in, win or lose, should be reversed. If I won a game with a cheater on my team, I didn't win that game and deserve to have the SR taken. However, I worry that, especially in high ranks, this would cause massive changes for some players in multiple hundreds of SR in both directions. So maybe like...half of the SR taken/given back? I don't know what the right answer is.
Ban waves are lame for the playerbase who has to "just deal with" it till the wave hits. There isnt any harm in just banning people who are hard snapping.
It's a double edged sword. If you ban all the hard locking cheaters then you only have subtle cheaters left who look real but aren't. Would you rather have blatant cheaters that are easy to catch and push for a draw or subtle cheaters everywhere where you can't even tell they're cheating? It sucks either way.

The blatant cheaters should be banned asap but the subtle ones get the ban wave because unlike blatant cheaters, subtle cheaters try to hide it so they are actively looking for ways to avoid being detected by both the players and anti cheat (if one even exists).

honestly, blizzard needs to just give them hardware/ip bans. i acknowledge that im not super knowledgeable on bans and how they are implemented, but surely there is a way to ban a person on certain hardware coming from a certain ip if they were confirmed cheating. the issue with these ban waves is that a cheater more than likely has another account (5, 10, 20, 100 accounts extra) and all it takes to avoid a ban and get back in game is to just swap account. hardware bans would help to mitigate that issue slightly
You know, the funny thing is is with people who boost accounts I've never really understood it because the person that gets boosted is obviously going to be well above where they're supposed to be so their game sense gameplay and skill at the game is going to be substantially lower than the other players against them and they're just going to fall back down to where they belongs. It's just a vicious cycle of wasted money to be fair, you get what you deserve. Because you're just going to end up back down in a silver or bronze, but still
If they are being boosted it will be a sad and probably expensive realization that they will end up where they started in the first place. They won't be able to consistently keep their rank up and will eventually end up back where they started unless they start cheating themselves, which again does nothing for them because then it's not actually their stats and when they stop (or are banned) all that progress is lost. I just don't understand cheating in PvP games.

I rarely see cheaters get banned. I see the same cheaters and even cheater stacks over and over again in every season. Infact its better to cheat/hack so you dont get banned, because stacks will report you as "Abusive chat" (thats the fastest ban) if they think you are bad and cost them the game. As a solo player I would pay a monthly fee to NEVER have stacks in my games. Its financially more viable.

It's likely a dodgy name or to protect the identities of the other gamers from repercussions of any actions taken as a result of the spectate. This community does have a lot of would-be vigilantes from the way some comment sections talk. 100% though; that account and whoever was being boosted was reported. The accounts will be gone in the next banwave.

I was playing in a QP (on console) match the other day and I feel like the enemy soldier was Ximming. It's kind of hard to tell sometimes but I went back to watch the match in his POV and the way he was moving and flicking around, I don't know, it seemed kind of sus for Soldier and on console. But I never can really tell since I play casually but whenever I have the thought I'm like huh...
Your right it can only happen if you queue with a PC player because it drags you into the PC pool. Ximming is hard to spot I agree. I only saw 1 I was certain of in a QP a few months back who was playing widow. The fun thing is at least ximming is not hard cheats like wall hack or instalock aim. My teammates ended up screwing with the ximmer as a sombra and moira keeping them in spawn essentially. Still sucks to go against though.

If they are worried about accidental bans.....If a new player is destroying lobbies, they are probably a cheater or smurf, and since they didn't pay for the account, a ban isn't going to hurt them anyway. They should have SR adjustments for cheaters , leavers and server issues in ranked. Its just frustrating to loose SR when you cant even play the game properly. Its crazy how they have gone years in a competitive game without any system in place for these factors.

@@SalviAlmighty I am fine with them doing ban waves if that help in covering up what gets them caught as long as I get that SR adjustment later on. Also blatantly obvious cheats should be insta bans. There is no mind games there just ban at sight. Cheaters who hide their cheating can be banned in waves.
Lower ranks seem to have the same problem of not picking heroes to punish the cheater and end up losing the draw. The same happened in a jay cheater vod, used emotes and squishies, and then got rolled by the cheater duo alone.

Yeah the answer for "Why can't we just ban them immediately?" and the reason Blizz does delayed ban waves is the same reason:
If the hackers get instantly banned, then they know instantly that their hack didn't work - and they can instantly get started on a hack that will work - and because they would get banned instantly if it doesn't work - they also know 100% when the hack is working
It allows the hackers to reverse-engineer the anti-cheat with high degrees of accuracy, and while saving the hacker time by giving him feedback immediately
If the hackers get banned sometime later, it may lead them to make false assumptions about which of the hacks they were using got them banned, or false assumptions about when or how they were detected - leading them to make more mistakes in the future and leave the inner workings of the anti-cheat ambiguous so they can't as easily reverse-engineer it
This doesnt excuse not banning people caught blatantly chesting on like streamer games or single players getting mass reported over multiple games not being banned when a quick visual check can tell you "yeah they are cheating" without needing to detect the specific cheat. Its one thing to ban wave cheats to catch mass amounts being spread out so that cheat devs cant quickly patch it as easy, but allowing rage hackers and the most blatant in your face cheating because of it feels lazy and like they dont care about the user experience.
Banning someone for being blatant and not even trying to hide it shouldnt really affect cheat devs figuring it out if all it needs is a visual check by someone manually and nothing system side.
But instead they are only relying on automatic ban waves and its dumb.
This reminded me of a time I played against an entire team of hackers (except the mercy) who were all probably trying to boost their mercy, the weird thing was this was in qp not comp but either way I’ve seen this happen before and they always have the biggest egos as if it’s not clear they are blatantly locking onto people and killing them. I may only be bronze but how bad at the game do you have to be that you have to hack to either boost yourself or someone else? I swear you can’t even get any enjoyment out of hacking
9:16 I think all games they were in, win or lose, should be reversed. If I won a game with a cheater on my team, I didn't win that game and deserve to have the SR taken. However, I worry that, especially in high ranks, this would cause massive changes for some players in multiple hundreds of SR in both directions. So maybe like...half of the SR taken/given back? I don't know what the right answer is.

It's a double edged sword. If you ban all the hard locking cheaters then you only have subtle cheaters left who look real but aren't. Would you rather have blatant cheaters that are easy to catch and push for a draw or subtle cheaters everywhere where you can't even tell they're cheating?

The blatant cheaters should be banned asap but the subtle ones get the ban wave because unlike blatant cheaters, subtle cheaters try to hide it so they are actively looking for ways to avoid being detected by both the players and anti cheat (if one even exists).

honestly, blizzard needs to just give them hardware/ip bans. i acknowledge that im not super knowledgeable on bans and how they are implemented, but surely there is a way to ban a person on certain hardware coming from a certain ip if they were confirmed cheating. the issue with these ban waves is that a cheater more than likely has another account (5, 10, 20, 100 accounts extra) and all it takes to avoid a ban and get back in game is to just swap account. hardware bans would help to mitigate that issue slightly
You know, the funny thing is is with people who boost accounts I've never really understood it because the person that gets boosted is obviously going to be well above where they're supposed to be so their game sense gameplay and skill at the game is going to be substantially lower than the other players against them and they're just going to fall back down to where they belongs. It's just a vicious cycle of wasted money to be fair, you get what you deserve. Because you're just going to end up back down in a silver or bronze, but still
If they are being boosted it will be a sad and probably expensive realization that they will end up where they started in the first place. They won't be able to consistently keep their rank up and will eventually end up back where they started unless they start cheating themselves, which again does nothing for them because then it's not actually their stats and when they stop (or are banned) all that progress is lost. I just don't understand cheating in PvP games.

I rarely see cheaters get banned. I see the same cheaters and even cheater stacks over and over again in every season. Infact its better to cheat/hack so you dont get banned, because stacks will report you as "Abusive chat" (thats the fastest ban) if they think you are bad and cost them the game. As a solo player I would pay a monthly fee to NEVER have stacks in my games. Its financially more viable.

It's likely a dodgy name or to protect the identities of the other gamers from repercussions of any actions taken as a result of the spectate. This community does have a lot of would-be vigilantes from the way some comment sections talk.

I was playing in a QP (on console) match the other day and I feel like the enemy soldier was Ximming. It's kind of hard to tell sometimes but I went back to watch the match in his POV and the way he was moving and flicking around, I don't know, it seemed kind of sus for Soldier and on console. But I never can really tell since I play casually but whenever I have the thought I'm like huh...

Ximming is hard to spot I agree. I only saw 1 I was certain of in a QP a few months back who was playing widow. The fun thing is at least ximming is not hard cheats like wall hack or instalock aim. My teammates ended up screwing with the ximmer as a sombra and moira keeping them in spawn essentially.
Still sucks to go against though.

Realistically though; it's all down to whether or not you *knowingly* aid a cheater, that's the catch. If you're doing it with full knowledge they're cheating, you're liable to be punished by the system. Slow and often on holiday though it may be. It's in the Blizzard ToS.

At the end of the day SR is just an imaginary number that doesnt mean anything in the real world, whereas cheaters are real people who think they are better than others because of winning games in OW.
