Loving the conversation on consuerism. I have always been a book-in-hands girlie, but have been recently seriously thinking about getting an e-reader to cut back on both my spending and my ever growing collection. I think my book collecting hobby is getting refined as of late, the consumerism is getting to a lot of us in the book community I think! But, personally, I would rather give money to authors than my consumerism dollars on other "unneeded things." You for sure gave me a lot to think about!

I also recently moved out of my parent's home because i wanted more control and freedom in my life and I love it so much! As you said, it's more control over your schedule, food, sleep and it's great to have it at a time where it feels right! Though packing all my books was an experience and I only have a fourth of your collection haha

After moving 4 different times since I turned 18, I've been trying to slow down on the physical book buying and unhaul more frequently. Kind of helps push you in that direction when you live in a city where you get less space in an apartment, so you have to keep the book space small.

This is so how I’ve felt recently, re book ownership and capitalism and memories. At the end of the day, I’ll maybe see a physical book I own and feel something once a year because my memory fleets lol so I’ve been thrilled to be reading off of my ebook with library rented books again 😊❤

Loved the conversation on consumerism and shifting priorities. I am not an e-reader kind of person, but I love audiobooks. So my library and I are becoming good friends, and I don't *need* to buy physical books as much anymore. Even when I go book shopping, I would think to myself, "is this something I want to keep in my small collection OR could I just wait to borrow from the library?"
Audiobooks are the bomb 👏🏾 and that's such a great question to ask yourself, I've been trying to do the same now

I borrow all my books from the library and only buy my favourites, that's how I keep my collection to one bookshelf :p
I used to borrow library books but i stopped since i grew impatient with waiting for book availability. One day I'll visit a library again. It's a sure way to save money

My family is finally moving into a new house and i have a lot of special editions so does packing the books the way you did protect them and does it for paperbacks? Never packed in my life
I would say standing them upright and keeping them tight is key. I would also put clothes in the extra space in the boxes so the books don't move around and don't use too big boxes because books are HEAVY

I get my books from the library and only buy when I feel the urge to reread (unless it's a favorite instant buy author). I'm also in year 2 of rereading every single book I own to see they still suit me and that has cut down my collection like no other. I wish I had done it prior to my most recent move, but what can you do🤷♀️
