I'm really glad that there is someone on youtube that does product design, that is the bone structure of design and of life. We need more awareness of industrial design, keep it up!
Hi Sam, you really helped me to resolve the pessimism and indecisiveness inside me before I started my graduation project. Thank you for this useful video!!
It is indeed. I did go for the interesting project going against what my University wanted me to do. Even though our counsellors tried pressuring, it does pay off even though you won't be grated all too well in the end. But the level of satisfaction you get after receiving the grade potentially a couple of days is worth everything. Thank you for the great, and honest words once again Sam
thank you for the pep talk i'm pretty stressed about ideation my project right now and this video made me chill a little bit. i still don't know which theme i should pick but thank you for this video :)
Hi Sam thank you for this really helpful video. I'm on my last semester. One problem I got lately is that when I'm looking for a topic Im afraid I come up with a final idea without even starting the proper research
You might come up with the beginnings of an idea but through research that idea will morph and change and become better based on your findings. I think that projects with no specific end goal will turn out better because of the insights that crop up along the way. Have fun with it!
Hey Sam, this was really helpful. I’m in my 2nd year doing my year end project, a portable work station. I am a little stressed because I don’t know if my design is really going to be helpful, I have done some research but you know that feeling at the back of your mind you are still unsure? How do you not get affected by it?
That’s always difficult! I’d say check out the Design Kit by Ideo. It has great tasks for design research. But it gets to a certain point at university where intuition takes over - don’t let the research restrict your design. You’re at university! Learn everything you can, and don’t be afraid to fail!
I've actually been following their design methods only! Ok yea I think I'm just going to keep working at it :) Thank you, its always assuring when someone who has knowledge about all this helps. Hope you have a good day :)
Hi Sam. It was my first time watching your video. I enjoyed it very much. Recently I am searching for my final year project for thesis. But I literally puzzled. I can't think about any thing. It feels like ed of road. Can you give me some tips.
Choose something that excites you! Don't try and change the world with a huge project that would take a full company years and millions of dollars to finish... your project can be small and something that interests you. Good luck!

Yes boring uni projects killed my passion for design . You can’t put 100% on your project if it does not interest you .
Nice video Great advice 👍
I agree! A degree is too short to waste on boring projects

Yogesh R. Sharma I think the advice still applies... pursue something that excites you!
Well, I’m 6 months too late to this video.
It’s never too late! Just make sure you’re doing a project you’re proud of. Have fun!
i repeated 2 times because i fucked up picking the theme
I’m glad you had another go at it! I hate my final project and I wish I could pick a different theme now
