    The crime rate here is overwhelming and it causes a lot of us to feel frustrated with our city. I’ve heard so many people say they “hate” it here. This video is a reminder that there are so many awesome parts and people of Toledo. It shows the beauty some of the people here end up missing out on. I appreciate you showing our city some love.

    • @midwestmike613
      @midwestmike613 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yeah but it's because many focus to much on crime or negativity. The local news as well as national news is majority the bad things that go on in the world. So I agree it's nice to have people like this that can change your view or perspective even if it's only temporary.

    • @Madaboutmada
      @Madaboutmada 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Please stop it. The entire media fixation on crime shows zero perspective. It's not "overwhelming". So many Rust Belt cities like Toledo and Chicago get a bad rap when it's actually Southern cities that are hotbeds and AWAYS have been: Memphis, Little Rock, St Louis, Kansas City and Birmingham. If you need a reason to hate it here and want to blame city officials, start with the terrible transit system and road conditions. Otherwise it's very affordable and pretty safe.

    • @mctransportation9831

      @@Madaboutmada agreed I have more issues with the bombed out roads and construction areas than I do with crime rates. Serious crime generally comes to people putting themselves in bad situations more so than random acts on innocent citizens.

There is so much focus on the bad, the crime, and the gangs. This shows why I love the city so much. There is so much to do here. Especially in the beautiful summer months. This is the most positive video of Toledo! You make me proud to call it my home! The negative comments are from miserable people. If they don't like it here, move! Your mother is adorable & I love that you took her to the museum, Maumee Bay state park, restaurants, etc. You two share a close bond & you treat her as a son should! ❤ Happy belated birthday! Lovely tribute to Colin. I'm so sorry to you, his family & friends. What a loss for the world.

    This video by far, is the best lense in which to view the modern-day City of Toledo. I grew up in a small town in northwest Ohio only to move to Toledo about 28 years ago to continue my career. I must admit, I was not fond of Toledo initially, but as time has passed and private dollars have been invested in Toledo, I really enjoy this city. Your filming occurred just prior to the Solheim Cup - a magical time for Toledo. Toledo ended up having some of the best weather and shined like the jewel it truly is despite its hardships and politics. The hardest part in watching this video was your ending: Mr. Collin Thomas Folk. You were gracious to pay tribute to him. I did not know this fellow but in this video you could tell what a charming fellow he was. Perhaps you can do another video of Toledo on your next visit to see your family. Much has changed, but all for the better. Thanks Mr. Sala, for sharing.

    This was extremely beautiful. Shocked, however, no mention of the Toledo Symphony Orchestra, The art museum's Peristyle where they frequently play, Toledo Zoo or the Stranahan Theater! There's still so much more! And so much glass blowing!!! Thank you for this, seriously. Our town don't get enough credit or attention.

    I'm nostalgic in seeing your video! I grew up in Toledo, went to University there, and just moved to Tampa, Florida. I miss the low commute times and local, small-town feel! Thanks for this incredible video and for curing my feelings of home sickness!

    You should definitely make another one for winter! When you are from Toledo, you don't really see it in the light of a tourist/visitor. It's amazing to see it from a better light. Sometimes you forget the nice things your own town or city has to offer! Great video!

    I do love how they have worked so diligently on the downtown. Repurposed some of the old warehouses into amazing lofts. So much transformation beautiful!

    Wow! What a presentation! You have shown so much that is so common for me, but in a way that made me take more notice of it.
    I moved here more than 30 years ago having grown up in Northern Virginia just outside D.C. (Loudoun County no less) And I call it my great escape! People still ask "So how did you end up here?" and I say it's where I ran out of gas and out of money HAHA! But, I met a stubborn Ohio Farm Girl and that's all she wrote.
    But really interesting video. The riverfront has really developed in my time. And if you really want to see an amazing sunrise or set, you need to take a boat out in the bay on a calm morning with flat water. That would be the best cup of coffee ever. - OK, you've seen that on the lake in a boat HAHA! It was great wasn't it? - and the water was super smooth! And yes, you weren't far from Canada. I would suggest you must see the Islands, Put-In-Bay but really, last I was there, in summer, it's just a drunk fest. The best time is off season or just go for the day. Christmas in July is awesome. We used to do that with a bunch of boating friends. We would go and stay on our boats for the weekend and cover em in Christmas lights. Those were good times because they are great people.
    The Metroparks has a really ambitious plan for it's future. They envision a nature/bike trail connected end to end planted with the original flora.
    So hey man, this was pretty cool. I've never seen anyone put that much into covering Toledo but you did a nice job. Toledo is pretty cool, they have all the things a big city has without so much of what makes a big city not so nice.
    Happy travels and be safe! I smile in admiration of your adventurous drive. It reminds me of an exciting time when I found myself in this flat place where no one could possibly want to inhabit :D

    I love that you showed so many coffee shops and parks! My version of this video would have included all my favorite Lebanese and Mediterranean spots. Tiger bakery makes amazing kunafa, Cedar Fresh Market has the best fresh pita, and I go to the Middle East Market on the regular for loubieh bi zeit, kousa mahshi, and fatayer. Everyone should try the maklouba at Sidon. One of my favorite things about Toledo :)

    Nice video. I was YouTubing Toledo videos in advance of my visit this April. My mom’s family was from Toledo and I would always visit my grandparents there. My grandfather worked at the Rossford glass plant his whole life, ending up as the plant manager for 20 years. I think it’s been 15 years since I’ve been there. I’ll definitely go to Tony Packos-love that place!

    Great Video! I did not read all the comments but as far as the Maumee River is concerned it got it's name during the French occupation and the river was originally called the Miami River but the French pronunciation sounds like Maumee. You can find this fact and many other if you Visit Fort Meigs in Perrysburg located right across the river from the city of Maumee.

      It's only a dead city if that's how you choose to look at it.. downtown was a ghost town after 6 o'clock before fifth third field and Huntington Center were built..which caused a boom of new businesses to spring up..creating jobs and a revitalized downtown.. perspective matters
