I have an OD-2 , bought in 1990-ish. I remember trying it out against an OD-1 and preferring the OD-2 for it's slightly thicker voice, with more whoomf (to use a technical term). I didn't use the Turbo - it's a bit much, and even with the remote switching option I wouldn't use it as a lead tone - a Rat 2 positioned after the OD-2 does that job far better. The OD-2 was my 'always on' pedal, giving my stock rhythm and riffing sound thru a Marshall JTM45 reissue.
Great shoot out I always follow your channel and watch your videos looking at a Japanese boss overdrive pedal next could you tell me what’s the difference between the od1 and the sd1?
@@KRAZEEIZATION awesome 8 chip one then 👍 I’m looking at buying one what’s a good price to pay for one yours sounded great your channel got me into boss pedals
The OD2R came out in 1994. The OD2 came out in 1985 and stopped in 1994 -5 and wasn't as driven as the OD2R.I still prefer it to the OD2R. But in those days, playing the amp loud was the norm too !
@@KRAZEEIZATION , I was using the MT-2 from 1993 till 1997 , and yes , I don't like the MT-2 anymore !!!! The same thing with the BOSS MZ-2 , I sold that one after 6 months !!!!
@@rottingemptiness The MZ-2 is one of the weirdest pedals they made. It’s a joke but I love the idea of it. It works best in stereo. Great Brian May sound from it! I have one and pluck it out once a year!
od2r stuck in my head since 1993 when i was jr high,, i remember after the class i go to my classmate house his dad has this OD2R and jackson hss with floyd and ended up playing on school foundation day and i play the intro of Dry County (Bon Jovi) and Slash intro on KOHD (live from tokyo) and then dj played the National anthem, this is the overdrive sound i knew
You really nailed the painfully cold maple fretboard telecaster running a drive pedal running thru a cold sounding amp with a shitty mic to make it sound even colder. Some advice for a future demo.... Record in a room with carpet or a fair amount of apolstry, try and play thru a humbucker guitar because single coils are always a lil thin and screaching and it affects the shitty phone mic, use enough volume to really show the tone, let your tubes heat up a good long while beforehand, place mic at least 6 or 7 feet away to eliminate sound wave crashing on the shitty mic. And most importantly, get slightly drunk and make it a demo and viral video.
“Lemme tell you how it is boys!” He said in a rambling condescending voice that listeners could tell had alot of practice from his reluctant family members

"All sound great, are all legendary"? That's it? Thanks for in-depth analysis!
Does it make sense to compare them while od2's turbo mode is off? Because as i guess when it is off it behaves like od1
BOSS Corporation doesn't need advertising, when an Irish guy in his slippers is on the job...

OD-3 sounds the most transparent to my ears! great demo, thanks

why isnt a turbo mode available on OD3?......OD2 has a turbo...can OD3 give turbo effect of OD2?
Hi, No, unless you use another booster. That’s the way it was made!
@@KRAZEEIZATION -any recommendation of another booster?....i mean using an OD3 and another booster..
@@dog4759 you could use an Ibanez TS9 Tubescreamer.

OD-1 for me! It’s one of the first ever Boss pedals from 1977.
