I was a independent for my whole life, last year I registered as a Republican. Never voting for a Democratic again. 55 year old veteran and finally decided you cannot avoid making a stand against evil. It is clear now to me that’s our choice good vs. evil.

Registering as Independent takes you off the fund raising list for the parties. When I registered (R) a few years ago, I was inundated with texts, calls, emails, mailings, and door knockers. Everyone wanting money. As soon as I switched back to (I), it went away.

I have been a huge Kat fan, but she just said she votes Libertarian knowing they won't win. What sense does that make? That's one less vote for team us.
Though she missed an opportunity here to say that if you want freedom to vote for the best candidate all you need to do is make sure your state has good run-off election rules or even ranked choice voting. Either solution demolishes the two parties strangle hold on voters. They'll still pretend like if you don't vote for them things will somehow go terribly wrong, but anyone paying attention knows it's not true under those rule sets.

The answer to "The third party will steal votes" problem is to make sure your state has run-off voting. As long as your state has run-offs, voting for the third party doesn't hurt anyone. If someone can't get the majority of the votes they just kick out the "third party" and all the people who voted for them originally can still vote in the next best thing.
who is going to get an honest vote when your state has rank choice voting?
A third party needs to "steal" a lot of votes! Why not? The left does it all the time!

It attracts a less popular candidate away from a popular candidate allowing a dissimilar candidate to win. It is a spoiler effect. Some states do no allow rank choice, the 3rd choice (some times a write in candidate) takes away from the most popular candidate.
@@dianebean51254 No. In both rank choice and run-off elections the less popular candidates don't take votes away. That's the whole point of those systems. In the case of the run-off they do originally, but then the voter has the chance to recast it if they're candidate can't win. In rank choice the vote automatically falls over to their preference among the most popular two assuming they fill things out properly.

I have always been an independent voter, only have to choose a party when I vote in the primary and I vote in primary for whichever candidate affiliate I want to vote for in the election. Independents are normal, we DON'T vote party line, we vote for best person offered, Greg!

Since you have not watched the show for long , you don't understand why he would say that. Kat is not your sweet , well balanced woman . She has a lot of emotional problems , she Knows it and has said so. She does not have a warm response to people and their problems. I didn't have to become an Independent voter; I've been a Libetarian for over 30 years now (might be closer to 35 years).
Me too🤚 If it were up to me, we would have almost 0 federal government except for a few necessary task such as the military. States should have all the power, we don't have to agree with one another state to state, I love my second amendment here in SC but I have no problem with California per say banning them, there's so many examples. State government runs better and is far more efficient.

We ARE a constitutional republic! We just believe in the basic principles of Democracy that everyone should have a say in government.

The biggest problem is that we are looking at elections as voting for the lesser of the two evils when we should be asking who is the better candidate for the job. The fact that we see and acknowledge, and accept, the evil instead of fighting against the evil shows that calling evil crazy or mental health problems only pushes it deeper into our society.

It’s much safer to “identify” as independent or unenrolled in any party. That way it can’t be held against you when you apply for work.

Too many Democrats always vote Democratic (no matter what) whereas conservatives will split into their various smaller niches. We conservatives are better educated about freedom, it’s history and how it is lost. (History). At this stage, I still feel that the two parties are the best system. This is coming from a 73 year old woman who has felt passionately about freedom and our Constitution since about 13 years of age.
