    Always gets me how we buy a set for parts and then end up not parting it but fixing it. Good to hear it's back with the owner.

      I'm always disappointed though when I get a radio that was described for parts / not working, and it actually works!
      Nice that this was accurate, and I had a little bit to do.
      It was a housewarming present when they moved into their home many moons ago, stopped working, and they couldn't find anyone to repair it.
      So I did it at cost, plus enough for a pack of Costa Tassimo Lattes - I don't do this for free you know Andrew 😉🙃

    So glad you're back. I hope you're feeling better. I enjoy seeing these radios brought back to life.

    Great to see you back Paul, but sorry to hear you have been unwell. Great though hearing you are on track to feeling fine again. 👍 Nice fix and video too, and in fixing this radio so that it can be reunited to its owner. Given it has special meaning for them makes it especially nice of you.
    I do like these little R760s. I used to dabble in cabinet making and their wooden fronts and backs are usually nicely grained and come up a treat. As in this one you have just done. Nice job! Gerry

      Thanks Gerry - on the mend than you. The previous owner only sold it as it didn't work any more, and they couldn't find anyone to repair it. It was a housewarming present when they moved into their home many moons ago, so held a special place. Thankfully, it can sing again.
      Thanks for watching, and your comment.

    Great fix.
    I hope the paint spots were not part of the sentiment of the radio, like her father painting hte ceiling with a roller in her first new home, and you scrubbed them off. lol.
    Great clean up. Looks new again. Well done.

      I'd already cleared it with the previous owner, and she was happy for me to go ahead... if not, I could repaint our own kitchen ceiling whilst listening to 5 Live to reinstate the patina... Thanks for watching!

    Hi Paul, nice to see another interesting video from you, sorry you've not been very well, I hope you feel a lot better now, I have repaired a couple of these in the past with the blown audio IC due to the use of the wrong psu, to stop this happening again I place a Schottky diode in series with the supply rail.
    Regards, Ray in North Wales.

    • @Codeeze
      @Codeeze  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am feeling better - more so than I have for some time Ray. Back at the bench, and tinkering with radio again. I never gave up - I just slowed right down... Usually nowadays I too put in a diode, but on this occasion it wasn't needed as the owner is also getting a brand new centre negative PSU in with the fix. Thanks for watching, and your kind words!

    Many of these old British radios have a centre negative power jack instead of the more common centre positive, I have nearly been caught out in the past.

      Discovered recently in a repair that many guitar effects pedals are centre-negative too.

    Tks Paul for Video it was most interesting This was the first one I have watched and I have a Roberts RFM 2 which has no audio at all and maybe the output chip has gone Can these be obtained I do hope so as the radio is in lovely condition and much missed,I will now be watching you videos again as you explain what you are doing very clearly even for an old guy as myself

    • @Codeeze
      @Codeeze  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Andrew. Start with the simplest stuff first. No audio at all screams something else is awry. Is there a hiss / pop / crackle on any of the wavebands? - I would be checking the power switch, rotary volume control, battery wires / jack socket wiring etc first, the speaker and connections next. Follow the voltage into the radio, and follow it through the circuit, find out where it stops...
      If you need help with it, I can send you a copy of the technical data for the model, (My email on my 'about me' page - viewable from a PC) this has a chart of expected voltages at different parts of the circuit board. All of the chips are available, although they are getting harder to find at the right price...

      @AndrewHamilton-bv8bo ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tks Paul for your kind reply.If it would not be too much trouble a Copy of the tech data for the Model RFM 3 would certainly help I will reimburse any expense etc.
