I have iridium keyboard (which bar the analogue filter is the same as Q Mk2 - 1 less octave of keybed) and the 3rd wave. I prefer the 3rd wave for when they cross over - but the Waldorf does so much more. Im tempted to swap the IK for a Q2 JUST for that extra octave of poly AT - but its a big leap for that. My home rig is now downsized a little to the Iridium, 3rd Wave, Prophet 6 and OB6.
Cant help wondering if its actually worth double the price of the iridium keyboard version? I don't see it if it does. I mean, it sounds great and comes with analog filters but its still not far enough away from the iridiums VA tonaly wise, so what else is there apart from upping the key count to 61 fro. 49? Think I'd just go for the Iridium keys and and a Rev 2 or Summit and still have a couple of hundred quid spare.
@@googlingthevoid yeah when I think I could get the irridium keyboard version plus a Rev 2 or Summit or even a polybrute for the same if not cheaper, I know what I'd go for
@maydaygoingdown5602 I have the Iridium keys. I'd love an extra octave and the analogue filters would be nice but it's too big a price hike just for that. Maybe if I was buying fresh, but I'd take a hit on the irid as well so..... I don't need the analogue filters either. I have a 3w and polybrute, and p6 and ob6 with those.... at least for now
@@paulmapp8306 I'd love to get either the P6 or OB6, both are beautiful synths. The tone of the OB6 is absolutely georgous. What are thoughts on the Irridium? From demos I've heard it's the best synth.for sound design for other worldy atmospheric pads etc I've heard.
@@maydaygoingdown5602 it is great at those - but so is 3rd wave... More expensive obviously, but more voices and analogue filters. more keys but no Poly AT. Ultimately Id want both 3W and iridium/quantum2 along with a single poly VCO I think - depending on flavour. Im debating letting both OB6 and P6 go and bringing in the OBx8 and an FX unit for it (H90 most likely) - possibly doing the same but with the P10 instead. 3W gets very analogue and similar ballpark (though not the same) character as the OB6 and P6. 3W sounds nicer to me for VA/wavetables - BUT iridium has granular and FM too (and resonator which is usefull at times) hence why Id really want both. BUT ....... i f you budget doesnt allow - an iridium keys plus any character VCO poly would work for moist sounds youd ever need.
Never did that for me (in the 18 moths Ive had my iridium keyboard) despite being a HUGE DM fan. the 3rd wave however gave me those feelings the moment I played it.
lovely sounding synth, do you see any big advantage for upgrading from a mk1 other than the increased memory? I guess future expandability with the new interface?
This is the best keyboard in the world, although as a Waldorf Keyboard owner, I am not certain it is worth paying twice as much, as apart from the analogue sound engines, the keyboards are very similar. Also, the Iridium is still prettier in my opinion.
Ich finde ihn schöner als seinen Vorgänger. Jetzt müsste man die LEDs nur noch per iCUE Software mit den Leuchtspielereien des Gaming PCs synchronisieren können. ;-) Spassemacht.
Nothing new. Yet another synth with yet another bunch of sounds and features that practically add nothing to what is already around for a long time in a lot of available variations from different brands.
As if computers are a bad thing in digital synthesis? Oh wait, I'm sorry, they're called VSTs right? Honestly you sound very inexperienced talking like that.
@@duel5071 You sound like you're shedding tears. I've just purchased a 16GB, 10 point, Oled foldable touchscreen laptop, that wipes the floor with this synth using free VST's like Vital and Surge XT and many more VST's that do things this synth cannot. The analog filters are mediocre at best. I'm not against digital synths, I own a VirusTI, Blofeld and Wavestate. but these aren't artificially priced. I also own many analog synths and hardware samplers. I even wrote my own polyrhythmic probability based midi step sequencer in objective C that runs on the mac. How experienced are you?

This video attracted the most beautiful bird to my window to sing along!
This sounds beautiful. I have been listening to a lot of CBL lately and this is very reminiscent
I wonder if they use a similar synth from this brand
Next to the 3rd Wave, the nicest synth sounds I’ve heard in a while.
It's a little more wet with effects than the 3rd Wave, isn't it?
That's because Wavetables synthesis is completely awesome. I got an M, I'm looking for another specialized oscillator synth.

3rd Wave or Quantum MK II. What’s your pick?
@@googlingthevoid such a tough choice.... for versatility quantum. For keybed quantum, for pure sound 3w.
Last minute... Finally someone shows us the power of polyphonic aftertouch! Thanks! Love the Quantum 2.
3:34 is so lovely! Which patch is it?
It's incredible! Every parameter available for twisting!
♥☺sounds ♥wow
Is there actual solid state inside it or is it a computer inside a keyboard with synthesizer software programed into it
00:38... Sounds like the Hydrasynth Deluxe Sawspressive + any other of 1024 presets.
Beautiful!
Does this come with a patch library - Acoustic Guitars, Pianos, Orchestral instruments?
Or just synth?
Comparing it to the Prophet X.

It really comes down to the materials, extra size, 8 analog filters etc. I’m with you it’s hard to justify double the price of an Iridium keys

Don't forget polyphonic aftertouch, 16 voices (up from 8), and stereo digital filters (in addition to the mono analog ones on mk1).

The original Quantum was the prettiest. Then the Iridium. Quantum MK2 is a step (or several) back in looks but I could live with it.

Nice video but unfortunately the Quantum mk2 is nothing more than an overrated plugin in a box with some mediocre analog filters thrown in for 4K.
Good enough for Hans Zimmer....
