Hello, lovely instruction (this and the other vid)! Detailed, illustrated and in calm tone!
I tried to learn this through “dial” some year ago and had hard time of linking these “didls” into an uninterrupted flow. What resolved this form me was the following approach: didl was only the first strong “ignition” moment, then it simply went on as le-re-le-re-le-re.... or lu-ru-lu-ru-lu-ru.... Lo-ro... li-ri... etc. This is done by striking the d/r point on the palate behind the teeth very lightly, then followed by transitory touch of one (or barely both) long, side edge(s) of the tongue to their natural projection on the sides of the palate. I find this to work as an “engine” of sorts. In my case however I needed to practice on purpose very slowly note by note passages sequencing in a rather retarded (and hopeless at the time) way synced with them lu-ru-lu-ru... I needed this slowness not only for the purpose of synced fingers and tongue but more for training the lo/lu part of the sequence to also stop the air as the r does, it tends to almost “brush” with no seeming consonant. The result is still alternate current, more subtle but much faster with less effort. And this alternation of intensity is more ancient sounding, reminding me of the thumb-Index difference in lute thumb under technique passages. I had this didlu-ru-lu-ru-lu-ru-lu-ru idea from trying to put articulation on some basic cornetto melodies, there they advise subtle L R L R articulations.. cheers, and thanks again.
