happy lunar New year everyone
Happy Chinese New Year🎉 China uses a solar-Lunar calendar, which is different from a pure lunar calendar. About 11 days difference between them. Moreover, the spring and calendar of each year are determined by Beijing Ancient Observatory. From first year of Taichung reign of Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty (104BC), the official unified calendar was issued until today. Also UNESCO has certified it and called it the Chinese New Year. The neighboring countries have been influenced by China throughout history . Please don’t play the politically game, just call Chinese New Year.
Really, do Sydney Chinese celebrate Lunar New Year, three-in-one their ancestor Chinese New Year, Korean Seollal and Vietnamese Tết at the same time?
I was the kid wearing the Pokémon shirt
Its illegal to say chinese new year in canada, if you have to say it, say lunar new year.
I personally have no objection to the term Lunar New Year, as the lunar calendar itself originated in China. However, it is unacceptable to deliberately obscure or downplay its Chinese roots, because the festival you celebrate is fundamentally derived from Chinese New Year, so happy Chinese new year
Here's how this festival is called in various countries where it is celebrated:
(1) In China, it is simply called "New Year" not Chinese New Year. Or Chunjie i.e. Spring Festival
(2) Outside China, in all South East Asian countries except Vietnam (where it is called Tet) such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Phillipines, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, it is a public holiday called Chinese New Year.
(3) Lunar New Year is used only in the USA, Canada and Australia.
(4) In Korea, it is called Seollal
Should be banned in Australia
