This is very helpful, thank you! One of our worst issues is the door handle, but not on the part facing outward (which is white leather). Instead, the back side where my hand goes as I pull the door shut is a sticky, black, gooey ick that gets all over. Yuck!

Yep I hear you! I have experienced that before. The black rubber is tough to get off. Not the way you want to start your drive! Definitely trickier to remove the rubber on inside of the door handle, you can’t get a plastic razor blade in there easily. Using a rag however should get it done, albeit with a lot of scrubbing. Best of luck, you can do it!

Great example. But mine is actually leather. Don’t want to remove the leather, just want to remove the stickiness. Thanks

Wonderful result ! But you do realize the trim comes off ? Would have been easier for you.

Thanks, and yes I realize the trim comes off, I noted that at the end of the video when I mentioned you can plastidip the trim to restore the rubberized look. I didn’t have a trim removal kit handy, and didn’t want to use a screwdriver to remove it. Plus, leaving the trim on gives me better leverage and allows me to scrape or rub hard vs. holding the trim piece in your hand, for example. Appreciate the comment though! There are definitely advantages to removing the trim for this job.

Doesn't removing the handle trim, require removing the entire inside door panel? At least on the BMW 3 series?

@@twoweeledsoto6072 I think you right. Another case where I’d do this job with the trim left on, as I did on my Saab.

The Saab trim just pops off with the plastic pry tools. I would be worried about damaging anything around it.

@@marclovescars Would plastidip spray be good for such a heavy duty surface? I want to spray mine too with plastidip, but I don't know if it will be durable.
