This kid grew up way too fast, 12 years old and going to parties while away from home for weeks, I think at 12 my top concern was building a treehouse and when the next Pokemon was coming out. We need to give kids the space and safety they need to enjoy a childhood free of dangerous influence.

People assume homeless people don’t have anyone who cares, but a community ends up caring for them a lot. Our homeless guy is named Wolfman and is super nice. He has so many journals of his writings on life and his thoughts. He comes into my bookstore and chills out. I can’t image a day where I hear he has passed, let alone being murdered.
Edit: so people bring up a good topic, that if we care, then why don’t we supply him with a bed and housing? So OUR wolfman chooses to be homeless. Countless businesses have offered him a job, but he denies. He denies money most of the time, and usually only takes food when he needs it. During winter we have some homes that house him during the storms, but most he ever asks for is new blankets and clothes. This is SITUATIONAL. So yes, the community makes sure he’s happy and provided for, and his peace is being wild.

Yeah and you never know why someone's homeless, over the last few years so many of the military have ended up homeless or people go through devastating things, might turn to drink or drugs and end up on the street. People living pay cheque to pay cheque, sometimes it can take a rise in rent or loss of job and it can happen. The lack of compassion and humanity in someone as young as 12 is scary.

His mom is the most baffling thing about this interrogation to me. She went super bipolar. First she was in the room with his grandmother encouraging him to talk and tell the truth. Then she comes back in and she's upset, understandably, that he talked to the detective and he signed to wave his rights. But did she ever tell him that? He's 12. How's he supposed to know to remain silent when so many adults can't even figure that out.

@@lorimcbrayer8431Yes, and no. Definitely in part… but I was raised by alcoholics (one who abused drugs, too), and I was molested by their friend who lived with us, they fought all the time… my dad kicking my mom on the ground, pulling her arm out of its socket, banging her head into coffee tables… and this was the whole dang time. I’d jump in the middle of the fights to protect her and get them to stop, and they grew to resent me. Eventually, as I got older, I recognized this and waited in my room until I heard one of them actually strike the other, with adrenaline surging the whole time as I waited at my door, and I’d run out only then to intervene. My dad told me I was the cause of all our family’s problems, and my mom called me a bitch and said I was dead to her… we were poor, didn’t always have much even food, our house was infested with roaches and rats, I’d go to school with mites, even though I showered and wore clean clothes everyday… roaches would crawl out of my backpack at school… we didn’t have AC or heat (in Texas)… the ceiling fell down, the walls were missing, there were no floors in the bathrooms (just plywood)…. We’d have to use a bucket to go to the bathroom every so often, because of plumbing issues… And 11 years ago, my mom shot and killed herself just feet away from me. My sister has been on drugs and in trouble ever since junior high… jail and prison so many times, lost three kids to their dads… she’s never had a job, never owned her own property of any sort, and she just can’t recover from it all. Meanwhile, I was too 5% of my graduating class, a National Merit Semifinalist, employed at all times since I was 18… never had anything I haven’t earned, but I am one of the hardest workers I know. I also have been involved in my sister’s kids’ lives, as a surrogate mom (of sorts), and I try to lead them through their f-ed up situation… and my oldest nephew is a gem… and we’re working on the littlest gal! She isn’t weathering things so well. I have Borderline Personality Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, OCD, attachment issues, anxiety, anger issues, self esteem issues and all of that… but I have lived with responsibility being the bar for how I act. Respectful of all authority and rules, even… Me and my sister lived the same life, though I took more of the brunt of it when we were kids (seeking to defend and protect everyone the best I knew how)… and we are polar opposites. You can’t discount choice and personal responsibility.

With a mom screaming at him like that, I can understand why he withdrew into himself.
One of several things that really jumped out at me was that he couldn't even read, let alone pronounce, constitution. i'm not sure if this a product of the school system he's in, how much or how little he paid attention, whether he had special needs of some sort that weren't being met for whatever reason (could be any of several), or something else. It surprised me, though. It's not a judgment call, just an observation and point of confusion and sorrow that kids don't get the educations they need, in many areas, nooot just schoool.
I think he barrely understood what the Miranda rights meant. I also think maybe he thought he was cool when he was with the older kid, wanted to impress him, you know, kid hero-worship-type stuff. Trouble is, this guy was all kinds of bad news.
This makes me so sad, for Trent, and for Sharron's family. That said, I think he got his attitude and way of speaking directly from his family. We emulate our parents, after all. They didn't teach him not to swear around adults--they did it with and in front of him!

I saw that female detective in another interrogation already and I'm so happy to see her again, she's very good I would tell her everything

I am so glad that I am not growing up in these times. When I was 12, I was still playing with dolls . The "grownest" thing I did at a teenager was when I started smoking cigarettes with my best friend at 16. And I still didn't smoke in front of my parents until I was 30! Too much stuff for these kids to get caught up in. Times are bad. Grown people are acting worse so it's hard to look funny-faced at the kids who act bad.

Interesting how his mother tried to negate his confession by telling him he doesn't know what he is saying because he is on medication but he has already stated several times that he didn't take his medication. But her heartache is palpable. She is pretty crushed that her son just messed up his life so bad. Her sadness is deep.

It's literally her fault. Horrible mother. People like her is the reason why kids today are so messed up.

It was the kids father that put her onto that. If you look at the series of events she clearly just wanted the truth but then did a total 180 after talking to his dad. The dad clearly knew the system and gave her shit for letting him talk. She left the room earlier just to let him talk and then the second time she left she was just about to call his dad...the next time you see her she's freaking out about him talking (after speaking to the dad). He clearly gave her shit for not knowing what was in his best interest.

Good lord, I feel for the grandma. Nothing like grandma's anger and the fact he's not scared of it speaks volumes about how much respect he has for others.

It’s AMAZING how this kid can’t grasp the gravity of his actions and the situation at hand. And even more unbelievably ridiculous that he thinks he’s going home…. WOW!

@@Leoprincess3038 Despite him being a "child", he was sentenced as an adult and was sentenced to 30 years at the age of 15. Young or not, he definitely knew what he did was wrong or he wouldn't have lied and tried to hide evidence.

Will he receive targeted rehabilitation whilst incarcerated? Will his release depend on his progress?

@@croaton07 OK and you see how bad and immature those lies were correct? Even thinking he could lie his way out of it sh!t they had video....I didn't say he was innocent because he's 12 so no need for you to write paragraphs. What I meant was of course he doesn't understand the gravity of his situation, he's 12.....you didn't need to try to explain anything to me I'm well aware of what I said and what I meant by it 🙂

I have a 12 year old and I couldn’t imagine… I’m guessing the mom feels desperate… so sad all around.
