The sick thing is that S&W know very well that people don't like it and keep producing it anyway. And then companies like them always say: "We always try to satisfy our customers" 🤣
Thank you for this. I am a little fatigued by plastic 9mm content on other channels. I replaced the grips on my 6-inch model 29 with single finger groove hardwood grips from Hogue. Much more comfortable while keeping the beauty of wood.
I have the same work of art. I take it with a marlin trapper to alaska on hunting trips several times throughout the years. They sw and the trapper are two of the most reliable guns!
I had to smoothen out the wood grips on my brand new model 29, 6 1/2 inch, because I would cut my hand every time with the wood grips, I also got a set of hogue rubber mono grips for it too, way better with those, I also had my ejector rod come unscrewed but I put it back in with a little bit of removable loctite, that fixed that problem.
You are correct, I have a Taurus in 44 mag and shot enough magnums and specials to have the brass I need for reloading. Not fun with the full power rounds. I load them down to lite special loads and enjoy the gun. My indoor range had ceiling particles falling down when I shot a half box of factory loads.😮
I've carried the 29 4" in a vertical shoulder holster before. I use the PMC Bronze JHP 180gr .44 Magnum. A fairly moderate load. And sometimes I'll use the Underwood LSWCHP 190gr .44 spcl. The best. 44 spcl load you can buy. Is it heavy? Yes. I have also carried my 629-2E 3" .44 Magnum round butt. With the right loads it can be effective. I probably would not use Buffalo Bore though. For that a Ruger Redhawk 4" might be better. A thicker frame.
Dirty Harry was supposed to carry the 4 inch version, but when they started making the film and they went to collect the hand guns all that was available was the 6 and 8 inch , so they used the 6 inch .
No one ever wants to believe it, but dish soap and warm water work really well. Bluing is tougher than most people think. Clean. Dry. Oil. Put away. I shoot alot of black powder, which soap and water work wonders for, but I started cleaning all of my guns the same way. 🤷♂️
I use Ballistol for cleaning my guns. When cleaning my black powder guns I start with hot water and dish soap followed by Ballistol. With modern blued and stainless guns, I just use Ballistol. It will not hurt the wood or plastic and is actually nontoxic.
It's the stock panels. They are too thin. Two options change it to rubber grips which are hard to find sometimes as it is a square butt. Or find a set of old school S&W target grips. Which are really expensive nowadays
Yeah, it´s a repro but... sooo gooood... The QC issues seems a standard thing. Revolvers need some special love in the assembly, much like the 1911´s back in the day. The time and the economy just isn´t there nowadays. At the other hand, something´s were better back in the day, somethings are better now. Do you have some inside info regarding that at S&W? And if so, do tell.
I wish I could take over SW. The first thing I would do is get rid of that fuking lock!! Second, I would put the firing pin back on the hammer, where it belongs. Third, I would get rid of those f'n grips. I'd bring back the goncalo alves wooden grips. I would keep the beefed up frame.
Not for carry, however in 1970, 71 the 4 inch , 6, 8 was not a huge success . Mostly handgun hunters were interested in the gun. I know several folks who live in big bear country and carry the 29 in the woods. Good looking paperweight 😂
Nothing is better looking than a shiny blued 29!
And nothing looks worst than that safety lock on that bluing!
The sick thing is that S&W know very well that people don't like it and keep producing it anyway. And then companies like them always say: "We always try to satisfy our customers" 🤣
Just bought a 4 inch 29-10 a few days ago, it was made in 2014 and had only 18 rounds through it by the original owner, love it.
I can understand why the round count was so low! LOL First thing I'd do is switch the grips out for something thicker!

I would totally carry this revolver
I used a dremel to make mine a round butt so I could use the Hogue monogrips on it and it is WAY more comfortable to shoot!!
I have one too. I love it! Just ordered stag grips for it.
Wish S&W would just let Hogue make grips for there pistols.
You should bring back your armor truck job stories I remember watching them years ago

Very nice! I'm a little more fond of the Model 27 Classic, but there's no denying the big bore goodness of the 29. 👍👍
Beautiful, thanks for sharing
0:11 actually it was a six AND A HALF inch, but what's a half inch among friends? (The 6 inchers standardized in 1980).
That's what you get from switching from a mostly hand fit to an automated construction to make it cheaper to make

I forget who makes it, think Fiocchi, try the cowboy action cartridges. Very lite loaded.
Can you do a video about cleaning blued guns and what cleaning supplies to use they won’t ruin the finish?

Any chance you will do an update on the Thunder Ranch S&W 325 revolver? Love to know what you think of it these days
Sitting here watching 48 hours, thinking maybe I should've went with the 29 4 inch smith instead of the 5.5 inch Redhawk.
I love the way that 1 looks. Do they even still make that model anymore?
Yes, it is part of their "Classic" line.
Mel Gibson's Payback got me wanting this version.
Can you recommend some companies that make some nice replacement wood grips?

The new blueing will not hold up wears easily
🔫😀👍🏼
Not crazy about the classic line, compared to the older models, such as the 29-2 models. New is not always better
why did you buy if you cant handle , trade it in for the LADY model 357 maybe you can handle that, or buy yourself a water pistol
Altimont is pretty terrible at making functional grips.
