I'm trying my best to get my 16 year old son to apply this, but in the age of social media and everything put there, its proving difficult for him. Where we had magazines in the 1980s they've got literally everything under their fingertips, and it's free for a reason, I have advised him many times that if he wants to be a real man, he needs to stop doing that, he is doing well but i can tell when he's fallen off the boat because he's miserable , foggy minded and other things similar to that. I will continue to set an example for him as a father so that he sees the results that speak louder than talking to him .
It’s not about “being a man”. This is arbitrary to a young person, frankly they could care a less about being a man because they don’t have to be. However, I do believe you can inspire him by inviting him to become the creative genius he is capable of being, the financially prosperous person, the joyful follower of The Lord, the energized servant of others, etc, that are all possible with this endeavor. Inspire him with the very thing that inspires him most. Read that again. Then 10,000 times remind him of how loved he is, and how this practice/discipline will unlock destinies in his life that will otherwise be completely unattainable. Lastly, follow Jesus. Personally for me, creativity works best when all the physical expressions are satisfied and not required. In that state I am forced to wonder what is life beyond sex or money. And life is a lot more beyond all these bodily and worldly trappings. So if you are taking sex very seriously, think again. A healthy sex life is enough to access genius in your life.
