It's been 13 years of me knowing this song. Growing up you realize that these were one of the few cases Hip-Hop heard emcees talking about their pain. Biggie was depressed for real.
When you get older the lyrics become more realistic than it was when you were younger. I first heard this album when I was just starting high school but back then life wasn’t as stressful. Now I listen to the album again as a 23 year old and it hits so much deeper now.
Man, this was a HELL of an opener! Say what you will, but this was Chris's Magnum Opus. He hit every reality perfectly in this one song. And when you get to the last song on this album...
