    Perfect description of Bisley. Seen video of the Queen's prize from ~40 years ago, and if it wasn't for the lack of modern cars you could think it was now. Funnily enough they described it in much the same way you did even then, and featured even older shots of the site that are still recognisable to visitors today.

    So, BCL in Canada, before you get your hopes up, they don't have the best reputation, seems a bit of a tossup if you get a goodun or not.
    For my take on frankenrifle , I did some work to a ruger american ranch (stangag) which allowed for a partial wraparound handguard of sorts and a pic rail on the bottom for a AFG to provide better leverage against my palm. I use the 2x primary arms GLX prism and it's great for the job.

    Awesome guest, the most shocking thing for me was that you think that the trail can be run quicker than an Enfield. The trail I’ve used feels a lot more awkward to use. More a case of lift the bolt which moves the gun then pull back, push forward and down. As opposed to an enfield which is more of a two stage process. I’m looking forward to the mad minute.

    I always enjoy your channel guest appearances 🙂👍🍻 Speaking of, I do hope Budi is well also 👍🍻
    I have enjoyed your content with Rowan in the past as well, but I must take issue with you gents on the .303 rimjam issue; it is very much a problem here in the US in my experience & I'll explain why....
    Firstly, most of the Enfield rifles, magazines, chargers, etc. that we have available are not in the best shape anymore, to put it charitably 😅
    Secondly, the case heads on commercial .303 ammo vary WILDLY from one manufacturer to another. I was shocked at just how non-standard things really are; sampling ammo from Remington, Hornady, Privi, amd S&B, the case hears all varied in rim diameter, thickness, and "chamfer" (or lack thereof).
    I encountered minimal feeding issues with the rest, but the S&B with its massive, rough-cut rims, reliably rimjammed pretty much every magazine...oftentimes, so badly did it hang up that the magazine had to be removed & the gun cleared manually - none of the tricks you guys taught me would work in these situations 😮😅😠🤔
    Of course, my rifle was no peach itself, being a sporterized 1941 Lithgow in rather sorry shape (you were correct about free floated barrels mot being a good thing on these guns). That said, with most of the ammo it worked adequately well, but not that (otherwise good quality) S&B stuff with those terrible rims...
    I'm at a loss to explain the variance in case rims on our commercial
    303...might you fellas have any input? 🤔
    If everything was made to MK VII spec, I have little doubt reliability would beuch more consistent, even on some of the more ratty, older, and sporterized guns...
    Thanks again for the excellent content, take care, and cheers boys 👍😁🍻🍻

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Loading the chargers staggered works even with S&B, cos the rims are ordered in the charger already. I think there's a lot of variation in commercial ammo cos most users will not use a charger so don't care, so there was corner cutting.

    • @natesmith5393
      @natesmith5393 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlokeontheRange Thanks for that 👍🍻
      Honestly, I had trouble even when stagger-loading rounds as you mentioned; I believe this also made it harder to strip a full ten rounds into the magazine too IIRC...the first five typically went in slick, the second not so much...didn't seem to matter what specific charger I used either...
      Mind you, I was using unissued Aussie surplus chargers that were still in pretty solid shape, so I don't think that was really an issue...🤔
      But yeah, staggering the cartridges in my chargers did not alleviate my rimjam problems much if at all.... perhaps I just have really poor luck (I often do 😅), or it could have been a specific gun/magazine issue....my being incurably ham-fisted probably didn't help either 😅😂
      The one positive to come out of my time with that sportrized SMLE was finally trying out the Mojo Sights milsurp peep sights...if you don't mind a more forward-mounted peep, and can get them where you live, I can readily recommend them 👍

    • @BlokeontheRange
      @BlokeontheRange  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Strange that if the top round in the clip has the rim in the right place, ahead of the one below, it gets screwed up going into the mag. Possibly either a technique issue and/or a screwy mag.

      Not sure if you’re serious, but just in case… serving Australian Defence Force personnel are subject to the Defence Force Discipline Act (‘military law’) in addition to Australian Federal and State laws, not *instead* of them.
      Simplistically, go AWOL, the ADF will charge you under the DFDA. Murder someone, the ADF will hand you over to the civilian police.

      Buggered if I know why my comment from yesterday didn’t post, but it roughly said that the premise of the original comment is off the mark. Just because Les was a serving ADF Officer at the time doesn’t mean he was “under Military Control.. not police rule”* - it’s not an either/or situation.
      Simplistically, serving ADF personnel are subject to both the Defence Force Discipline Act, AND Federal and State laws. Get caught AWOL - you’ll get done under the DFDA because that’s not an offence in civilian law. Murder someone, you’ll probably get handed straight over by the ADF to civilian authorities. Get into a punch up on base… probably a DFDA thing, but possibly gets referred to the civvy coppers, and if you hit the jackpot you might even get done over by both.
      (*BTW I’m not even really sure what the OP really means by ‘military control’ and ‘police rule’, they’re not common terms here in AU)
