Now that you’ve completed the Rasalhague storyline, I suggest you continue the Bounty Hunter quest. Once reaching level 10, he gives you a mission that’s the hardest in the whole game at difficulty 110 (the only mission of its kind by the way). I won’t spoil what happens, but let’s just say you’ll need the best mechs you can get for it. When I played it I had four assault hero mechs maxed out with upgrades (two atlas, a king crab and highlander) and I still nearly died with all but one mech still operational. It’s a massive slugfest with a surprise twist. The rewards you get at the end though is well worth the pain and struggle, I’m sure you can guess what you get 😉 Anyway, great playthrough of this campaign. Loved it 👍🏾
Hi Baradul and Everyone! Thank you! I got this game because of you last December and can't stop playing! The Mercenary campaign can only be played from the Rise of Rasalhague DLC. 😮💨 I suggest you start the DLC4 again but modded and without playing the Rise of Rasalhague campaign. It's more challenging this way with the Mercenary campaign as some are low level. That's what I did... and the Clan Invasion is coming much sooner.
The Bounty Hunter missions is what I think you should play next. 🙂 PGI is actually committed to staying timeline accurate so new equipment likely won't show up until it's timeline acceptable. Getting "only" one new 'mech isn't that bad. There's an entire list of Unseen BattleMechs that're likely still being rendered into usable assets that could be used in future MechWarrior games, including perhaps making its way into MWO as well. 🙂 Also, it sounds like you already know what 6 is going to be about, at least to some degree: The Clans. 🙂 IIRC, it's not necessarily going to be about the Clan Invasion, but more about the Clans and Clan culture. That's only a maybe though, MW6 was in very very early development when I was working at PGI for MW5 stuff. 🙂
MercTech - Not ready yet, but progressing rapidly. Seemingly the main bulk of the rewrite is complete. Magnum (the dev) is currently hooking campaign/career functionality back up. Once that's done, it'll mostly be down to testing and knocking out bugs. At some point during that process there would likely start to be Unstable builds. My estimate is March or April for Unstable builds to start being released. But, that's just my best guess based on following what's been going on in the MercTech Discord. Obviously Magnum is the guy doing it, and all sorts of things can effect that timeline, for instance, he's not really done much work in the past couple days as he was ill. But, he's worked with PGI to get the editor updated (to better suit his needs) and he's made great progress in the last month or so.
Good to hear. I look into the discord now and then. I play with YAML, Claninvasion, etc. at the moment but something the small things... I really miss the Piratetech dynamic and detailed map for the clan invasion. @baradul: If you try mods dont forget the vonHUD with the new commander function. Very nice. :)
There are several Mech Repair Bays in the mission midway through the map near that base. Baradul didn't need them but they are there if you get worn down through attrition. Good game. I've enjoyed it. Still have trouble with the Infiltration Missions but I'll get better.
i had to do that mission with a stalker an archer a hunchback and some other medium mech and i got wrecked the first try and was considering starting all over but i tried again and was going through very slow and when i found those repair bays i was so happy
Bounty Hunter TIP: you can tell what missions have mercenaries by the base pay out when you view the contract. They pay way better than the ones with out - millions of C-bills more.
With it being an invasion, I'd love to see some form of territory control added to the game map. You could fight for a house, a clan, or even carve out your own kingdom in the chaos of the clan invasions (hard mode).
Let's see a zero to hero run with YAML and the other mods active. Let's see how YAML changes the battlefield dynamic- applique armor care of a overly powerful and needlessly secretive telephone company, RACs aplenty, some MRM mayhem and LRM lunacy.
Also funny how in the final mission you skipped past 4 Repair Bays before the final fight with the Hatamato'chi. But maybe that was a good thing, was a greater challenge :D I'd say it's fine to go YAML. You could do a 0 to hero and try to focus on getting Bounty Levels. Might be interesting. Also with YAML there is still things you never Saw, like what tech and mechs show up after 3160 in YAML. So that is also an option. The Bounty Hunter stuff is fun. Because it gives you little stories for each of the Merc Units. And apparently it fixes the Hero spawning of the Crusader bugs.
I enjoy the walk throughs with out the mods. Being a ps4 player I don't have the option to do that so learning different build options or how you build your Lance and weapons group is super useful on this platform. I would really like to see you continue on its more relatable for the ps4 players that can't use mods. Just a thought I've been into mech warrior series since I was young and I enjoy good ideas and mech builds. Your channel is great I watch all the time. Cheers!
They could have easily introduced a new mechanic with existing weapons to give weapon variety. For instance, AC20 that fires a triple burst. Instead of the tight cluster of all the rounds or the long burst, it could have been half way between them with 3 tight but smaller clusters being fired. This sort of mechanic doesn't break the lore, yet offers new options. I wouldn't have minded them introducing new missile types. There were many missed opportunities. However, since many were thinking they were done with adding anything new to the game this DLC was very appreciated.
I mean, even with the DLCs, the late game vanilla can get pretty stale real fast. Starting over with wacky, almost unfair mods and somehow building up from early game mechs is wonderful.
Started a new career modded to work my way towards this DLC from the start. Just hungry for more great content to tide me over to 3049. Many thanks for the Videos!
Timeline is putting me very bad situation. I had no powerful mech and this level is very difficult. I'm stuck. There were repair stations just before final encounter but you didn't need it :-)
Might be interesting to try out the DLC missions with a Modded Playthrough so see what difference it makes? Going back to Modded would be cool either way imo! I've been playing YAML Modded with some friends in COOP, using a mod collection I made based on your previous playthrough, and we've been having a blast.
I really hope they improve the co-op experience in MW6. That's already been announced like Baradul stated, but I'd love to see PGI expand on the co-op experience, perhaps making it where joining players can bring in their own mech company, or alternatively run off the existing mech outfit similar to what MW5 does right now. I almost feel like that should have been done from the start.
Definitely The game should be coop oriented, the universe fits it perfectly. You can always solo play it with AI, but I enjoy it way more when I play it with friends. The hardest is to scheddule the game sessions 😅
@Doc Thor Well, that's why I like the idea of mech companies from other players joining up to fight along side you. This way, your friends can make money while you do, and they can field their own mechs rather than having to run off what the host provides them.
Nice run on this Bara, it did seem challenging for sure, think if you had taken a few more shots on the trip of that last mission, early in that hit and then if your other atlas had a few more hits...big difference... But a lot of that goes to your quality as a player. Well done.
I picked up this game just prior to when this DLC dropped, so I'm new to not just this DLC but the game as a whole as well. I wasn't very far in my campaign at the time, so I just re-started it to include this new DLC. I just finished the Rasalhague storyline this weekend, and I agree with you that the DLC could have been better, and I also agree that voice-overs of the large amounts of text for the storyline would have helped. I guess I'm old-school enough where it didn't bother me much though. I enjoyed the challenge of this DLC, and I also enjoyed the storyline. I like the new mercenary interventions in standard missions, and I'm currently working through the rest of the mercenary groups to progress with the bounty hunter, to see where that leads. The new infiltration missions are an interesting twist too. I also played through the Kestrel Lancers DLC missions, and I really enjoyed those missions. I've done a few of the Heroes of the Inner Sphere mission chains, and still have several more to do. Those mission chains have definitely been more interesting than just doing normal missions over-and-over again, and I suspect this was a very welcome change compared from the vanilla game at launch, although I have no frame of reference. Hero mechs also give you some interesting options. It was interesting to watch your playthrough of this DLC, as your experience with it was quite different from mine. It was interesting to see the differences in mechs you used, as I had an almost completely different lineup, and also fit my mechs different to how you fit yours. I also made sure to upgrade my mechs as time and C-bills allowed, and I think that made a difference, especially in some of the harder missions. You definitely made good use of that Sidewinder, I'm going to have to take that one out for a spin as well. It looks like an extremely useful mech for the beachhead missions and some of the objective-based missions because of that added mobility, while still able to have a decent weapon on it and a good chunk of armour. Meanwhile I have the hero Orion, and I've loaded it out with a loadout that on paper should be great in the hands of my lancemates, but for whatever reason, the mech always seems to get blown up or seriously damaged every time it is on the field.
I would absolutely like to see you continue with the Bounty Hunter quests in this playthrough as well. I realize the in-between will have less "direction" without the Rasalhague story but I'm very curious what all the Merc conflicts will result in.
As far as new mechs I think if you could have salvaged the unique Hatamoto-Chi from Kurita or some of the unique mechs I think that come from the Bounty Hunter system I think it would have felt more rewarding.
I couldn't help but notice there's a system called "Pomme de terre"; it translates to "Potato" in French (Literally: Apple of ground/earth). I laughed at that.
Haha, there's actually a character in the 2018 Battletech game (your navigator) who hails from that system. ...And she made it clear she absolutely loathed it because a majority of the ecosystem there is mostly birds. Like nothing but screeching birds of varying shapes and sizes everyday. It's pretty amusing.
I would love it if the dev's would just reach out to a bunch of streamers and ask if they would like to do the voice acting. i bet a bunch of you would love to take an hour and read some story lines for free just to be a part of the game. How fun would that be when you are streaming the next expansion to hear yourself as one of the characters.

''With the conclusion of operation Serpent and Bulldog, and the great refusal at Strana Mechty, the power of the clan invaders has finally been broken'' :D
YAML will retroactively update for this playthrough if you choose, i have one playthrough with a TON of stuff, YAML updated it all. Started a new one just to get a better feel. But you dont have to start over! I wouldnt. Just start doing the bounty hunter things and collect all the pins! :D
I love the time pressure play. Modded or vanilla, I hope you come up with a role-playing reason to continue fighting under time pressure. Perhaps setting "money in the bank" goals, or "missions per year". Some reason to not always be using your best squad is exciting!
I agree with your verdict. Quite challenging and enjoyable campaign, the QoL and rival mercenary system are nice, but wish there were more additions. As for what to do next, farming Bounty Hunter levels can actually take quite a while, so probably better off letting it happen naturally instead of actively pursuing them imo. Maybe a new heavily modded play through with a bunch of tweaks on YAML/Pilot Overhaul settings to shake things up a bit? Late clan era start etc? Just throwing my ideas. Anyway, love your videos!
i wonder, do you have the same cooling down bonus in MechWarrior 5 as you get in Battletech when the Heat sinks are installed in the legs and than standing in water ir snow?
The new DLC has been great. More mechs and weapons would have been nice but that's what mods are for lol. Third episode of Hired Steel was great by the way. Im 50/50 on the voiced mission brief and debriefs. My biggest gripe is that they have not added any lines for Commander Mason in any of the DLCs as far as I can remember.
Good play through Bara. I vote you import your current unit into a modded game! I have been using YAML mod for a few weeks with no problems. Personally I like your modded play through especially once you get to assault tier mechs or above. Building mechs with mods is way more interesting then when you build in vanilla. Playing modded and running the bounty hunter missions has been really fun and interesting for me. Keep up the excellent content! -Tanks Man-👍
I would personally like to see the Bounty Hunter aspect in vanilla, before the mods are applied. The modded game is very enjoyable but I feel that the DLC is only half completed at this point until we can see the merc company and Bounty Hunter aspects played out.
You should definitely mod the game but continue the playthrough. However, you NEED to try out the new control style, take a light mech with a bunch of flamers and machine guns into an assault scenario and show of your dance moves. This is lowkey my favourite new feature out of all the DLCs. Light mechs are totally viable in the end game now. Also, you can check if mercs show up as enemies on any mission by checking if the payout is unusually high.
Excellent play through, but stick with your mechs that you have right now, yeah will say the bounty hunter quest, is actually more rewarding than the storyline, with the rewards you get. To check your progress in the bounty hunter its the op button followed by the stat button, then bottom right you'll see (view bounty hunter details) pressing that will bring up where you are and what rewards you get for next progression. The rewards start fairly smallish, but boy do they get better. You'll find the mercs will either be at the beginning or the end of whatever mission your on. If there is a mission in a merc controled zpne which seems to have a very higher than normal payout in credits, good chance that'll be the one wi the mercs.
My personal opinion is to continue from here. I would say just use YetAnother and Pilot Overhaul. That gives you options yet doesn't overpower the game. Make sure your mechs are fully repaired before you fire up Mods though. Then become a merc hunter. These mercs have given the profession a bad name. Prove to the IS that you are the shining example of honor and duty. Prove you do not represent the greed of others, taking only battlefield salvage and air strikes on your negotiations. I did something similar with a group from St. Ives on a modded start and had a blast. Never took money unless I filled with repair money to use leftover points. Have fun and level fast. Girochen (gear'-o-shen)
Man i love this game just finished the main story line and been smashing the side quests too its a very big game considering how many people said how bland the game is
Still the game is dry shallow without the mods :/ especially considering that it’s the 3rd game with same mech models and all the wackiness of the ragdoll behavior
@@perry92964 yeah) feel the same. And mw5 is still a good arcade experience, but the shortcomings are just so blatantly stupid and obvious that it destroys my suspension of disbelief and feels more like a tech demo, a prototype, either then a full game for that price. It’s mind blowing how good some parts of the game are and then there are the tanks teleporting behind my back or a dropship model sitting in the sky waiting to be initialized. Or lack of the human eye perspective or things to scale the mechs to, or even no cockpit closeups showing actual pilots even in the cinematics. Or weird weightless ragdolls in said cinematics, like the devs wanted us to see them :c I am sad that the game could be so much more if the devs actually got some attention to details and not selling the easiest 80% of the game as a whole
I have a feeling that most people won't run this DLC twice. Not only because it's long and demanding, but because it lacked any decent end reward. They hyped that "new mech" [Alexander's melee (hero?) Hatamoto Chi] in the briefing, but it was disappointing not to see it as an end reward. It could had been like the other good hero mechs (king crab carapace, archer agincourt, victor basilisk) that you go and hunt in every new campaign you play.
The reason the hero Hatamoto-Chi isn’t a reward is because it was already in the game for purchase at a industrial planet. So getting it again would defeat its uniqueness (even though you can get multiple duplicates of other hero mechs if you import your previous saves so eh). But there’s a reason it’s not a reward, lore wise it also explains it too.
@@goliathxanatos706 So, it's ok to purchase it from a random store, but not if it was given as a end reward after helping in a big war and being the one who killed it? Just remove it from the stores, and make it a guaranteed end reward. Give also an additional reason for someone to buy this DLC. I'm not an expert about lore, but even if there's a problem with this specific mech, they could have given any other hero assault mech (that would also make sense lorewise), worthy of your time and resource investment in that quest.
Turning in the mods and keeping on with this playthru is fun, but clan tech is quite a ways off. Might be interesting to play mods without the advantage of clans.
those merc things are so random, sometimes they help you, i was doing an assationation mission level 90 and they showed up on my way to the drop ship and i got wrecked, only one mech survived and that was after i reloaded the mission
Definately go modded again and work on killer mech builds again. If you play through the Bounty Hunter line, you will need some killer mechs for the ending. You got to accept the transmission first though
I think you ought to mod this up and take another run at it. The mod will make it maybe a little bit more fun. But I honestly didn't think it was much of a challenge for you. I do think that modding is the way to go, I'm sure the original writers of these programs were happy with what they had but we can always do better can't we
tbh, long range equipped AI going into skirmish is my biggest gripe with them in this game... not sure if it helps just to NOT equip any mid or short range weapons on their mechs...
I swear, that first mission Baradul did for today's let's play, he passed mech repair bays when he saved the armory.
Yes there are four active repair bays, you can see the green lights on them glowing as he fights off the attack.
yeah i was shouting "LOOK TO YOUR RIGHT!"
+1
Now that you’ve completed the Rasalhague storyline, I suggest you continue the Bounty Hunter quest. Once reaching level 10, he gives you a mission that’s the hardest in the whole game at difficulty 110 (the only mission of its kind by the way).

Yes pls I would love to see what happens when you complete the bounty hunter quests!
After that "lovely" chat from Tor, I purposely went to Gunzburg to repair my mechs!. 😆
Is there any consequence ?
@@docthorr Sadly no. I was hoping for at least some text about being barred entry, but nothing happened. 😕
@@slate613 sad. Maybe an expensive tax for repairs/refit. That would have been easy to implement.
bara:"my armor is dwindeling...." ignoring 2 repairbays ;-)
Baradul: I have back armor!
...2 seconds later
Baradul: I no longer have back armor!
Hi Baradul and Everyone!
Thank you! I got this game because of you last December and can't stop playing!
The Mercenary campaign can only be played from the Rise of Rasalhague DLC. 😮💨
I suggest you start the DLC4 again but modded and without playing the Rise of Rasalhague campaign. It's more challenging this way with the Mercenary campaign as some are low level.
That's what I did... and the Clan Invasion is coming much sooner.

Question….if there is no clans in this one..how come I’ve been on plans where I saw old dead junked up clan drop pods??
I remember that final rasalhague mission! I laughed my ass off when i killed Alexander Kurita, because of his scream... "Aaarrrggg"! 😂🤣😅

Also funny how in the final mission you skipped past 4 Repair Bays before the final fight with the Hatamato'chi. But maybe that was a good thing, was a greater challenge :D
I'd say it's fine to go YAML. You could do a 0 to hero and try to focus on getting Bounty Levels. Might be interesting. ...And she made it clear she absolutely loathed it because a majority of the ecosystem there is mostly birds.
I don’t know where I can get more assault and heavy Mechs All in the still in the repair bay
In salvage I missed the Katana sword :( picked think it was 10 Salvage parts of that samurai, but need more to make the mech :( Wats that about :((
YAML will retroactively update for this playthrough if you choose, i have one playthrough with a TON of stuff, YAML updated it all.
Well the multi-missions can accomplish that. I've seen up to four and you don't have time to repair your A squad before the next mission.
I saw a 10 multi mission once, but that was a while ago (befoe call to arms dlc). I think it came from coyotes mod though
There are at least a few more Rasalhague story missions, but they won't appear for a while yet.
i wonder, do you have the same cooling down bonus in MechWarrior 5 as you get in Battletech when the Heat sinks are installed in the legs and than standing in water ir snow?
You cool faster standing in water and other liquids no matter what. You don't even need heat sinks in the legs
Keep what you have and power on :D.
I'd be down to watch a full story campaign working through the timeline with the DLCs modded to your liking
What about restarting the playthrough with YAML
Watching you play this game makes me realise just how utterly useless i am at playing it you almost never miss a shot i almost always miss lol🤣
Use VonCommander with YAML
OMG he COMPLETELY missed the repair bays. He could have repaired his mechs.
@21:11 Eh, give it a few years, you'll get curbstomped by the Clans for a bit.😬
You should definitely mod the game but continue the playthrough.
However, you NEED to try out the new control style, take a light mech with a bunch of flamers and machine guns into an assault scenario and show of your dance moves. This is lowkey my favourite new feature out of all the DLCs. Light mechs are totally viable in the end game now.
Also, you can check if mercs show up as enemies on any mission by checking if the payout is unusually high.
42hrs in the game and on the mission to kill Kane, will buy dlc's for sure.
that battle arena is reminiscent of the duel arena from battletech/roguetech... just biggerer o.O
You should have used those repair bays... I fixed all 4 mechs when I did it.
I feel I've more of a vested interest with these guys Barabrother. So how about we continue on this playthrough
Honestly the message from Tor got me because he's right and there's nothing you can do to change it.
Yup. If there's a juicy enough contract against NRR, I'd took it
Can you mod this playthrough? Would like to see more of this into the clans.
YES YAML works great with it thats what im doing now
Excellent play through, but stick with your mechs that you have right now, yeah will say the bounty hunter quest, is actually more rewarding than the storyline, with the rewards you get.
I admit I'm not familiar with the Battletech timeline, but when do the clans come in?
Man i love this game just finished the main story line and been smashing the side quests too its a very big game considering how many people said how bland the game is
Still the game is dry shallow without the mods :/ especially considering that it’s the 3rd game with same mech models and all the wackiness of the ragdoll behavior
It was bad, the DLCs fixed the bland gameplay and the mods fixed the bad mechlab. Nowadays it's actually a really good game.
@@ostelaymetaule i like it without the mods, its way to easy when you can make mwo builds
It's a Stalker 3F...of COURSE you want to repair and rebuild it.
Other Merc appear on the missions that have higher Cbill value.
Being a new player on this game also on PS5 tried this story line and im dead already. No money or mechs left.
"Equal" to the great Houses.
Sure. And then the Clan Nation invaded.
GG barabro
Definately go modded again and work on killer mech builds again. If you play through the Bounty Hunter line, you will need some killer mechs for the ending. You got to accept the transmission first though
There is another mini quest line for FRR, against more Ronin.
How does this game run so well for you, my $3000 PC runs this game on average at 25 fps.
Do you have AMD cpu?
✌
Keep it all and just go with the mod
If the mods work with an alraedy started campaign, go ahead and get them in.
Can't speak for others but I could hear the ingame chatter no problem
I was expecting this mission to be much more difficult. Maybe I just got lucky.
Who am I to tell you what to do? I'll watch the Mechwarrior 5 content you enjoy the most anyway.
modded when ? and 0 to hero sounds fun , id be interested in merc tech i havent tried it yet
I think you ought to mod this up and take another run at it. The mod will make it maybe a little bit more fun. But I honestly didn't think it was much of a challenge for you. I do think that modding is the way to go, I'm sure the original writers of these programs were happy with what they had but we can always do better can't we
Tor”s msg is the same as in the novels
tbh, long range equipped AI going into skirmish is my biggest gripe with them in this game...
not sure if it helps just to NOT equip any mid or short range weapons on their mechs...
