Paws, just so you know, the spotted hyenas and the striped hyenas live in different groups, you got the spotted hyena right but the striped hyena live with one female and 7 males, not 2 females, it says it in the Zoopedia Edit: the spotted hyenas would prefer one female, not 2
Now that you’re likely going to be putting out videos more regularly, don’t feel pressured to add a new animal every episode, I’d be just as happy watching you manage all the existing animals and making sure their populations are ideal, getting the right amount of food and care etc and then maybe just some guest services or whatever is needed to improve guest and staff needs too 😊
The four common patterns of animal wakefulness are Diurnal (active during the day), Nocturnal (active during the night), Crepuscular (active during dawn and dusk) and Cathemeral (active at various points throughout day and night) :)
Out of all planet zoo content creators I enjoy your videos the most cause you still have that little spark and excitement about the animals just like a kid going to the zoo the first time. It‘s nice to build awesome buildings for the animals and stuff but the general excitement keeps bringing me back to your channel. Thanks for being awesome.
Just wanted to give more info on spotted hyena hierarchies. They often get lumped into matriarchies but they're a fair bit more complex than that. Hyenas inheret their ranks from their mothers. So if both male and female pups inherit the status of their mother why do females outrank males? The males tend to disperse and leave their pack in search for another more frequently. And once a hyena joins a new group they are set at the lowest point it the hierarchy!
Aara at 45:03 is the outsider hyena you were looking for! It seems like you noticed this later,, but they were an outsider at the beginning when you were looking at them :) so it wasn't as if they kicked them out I don't think
Yes this really confused me because when I actually tried to investigate it said they were all integrated and ok but then later seemed to kick them out again outside of the gender ratio 🤔 it seems they need to be released
Please adopt an other male for the capybaras. The genetics of this one are awful! Can you make a dromdary camel habitat in the future episodes? You're amazing 🌺
Yeah, choosing animals with poor genetics for breeding isn't particularly ethical, especially if the offspring are going to be released into the wild. It would lead to wild populations being more susceptible to disease, decreased birth rates, and shorter lifespans; the goal for ethical breeding should be to strive towards healthier, more robust wild populations.
Thanks! I am planning on adding the dromdary camel in the future on this series so stay tuned for that ☺️ Also do agree on the genetics of the capy male I was only choosing the best of a ‘bad situation’ I guess at the time but we can see if any other better males come up later 👍
I really miss when you used to do the educational talks outside of the animal habitats but obviously with enough room for other guests walking around etc. also I think you need more seating and shading on the paths and another guests area. So happy this series keeps coming back. I love it so much.
i am so happy you are doing full time. i recently discovered this channel and now i love this channel so much,. i hope you have a good experience ahead in your journey of doing full time yt
I think that at this point, if you want to keep marking this as an ethical zoo, i think its smart of relocate either the Maned Wolf, Anteater, Bairds Tapir or Capybara and make 2 habitats with 2 animals for them. Looking at the Zoopedia, this will be the Bairds Tapir and Capybara and Maned Wolf and Anteater... cuz the Maned Wolf cannot live together with the Bairds Tapir, which means having the Bairds Tapir in a habitat with the Maned Wolf as is, cannot be seen as ethical either. At the same time, the Anteater and Capybara can both live with the Maned Wolf, so you can also just relocate the Maned Wolf and introduce the Collared Peccary to the zoo, which can live together with the Maned Wolf.
Hi there! Been binging your episodes in anticipation of the console release. Your videos are super engaging to listen to, keep it up! I’m also proud of you for making the leap to dedicating more time to the channel. I’m a creator too and it’s a scary proposition to give up stability (I went the route of unfortunately releasing less often because of my real-life job). I hope it all works out for you, there’s many of us that will be here rooting for you!
I had to double check the spotted hyenas in game, because I swore the dominant female should have a "crown" instead of the alpha symbol since beta females are still allowed to breed. It seems like two females will live peaceful as long as you let them chill together (they don't need to be "officially" bonded) before adding the male, but they will start fighting for alpha if you add them all at once or when any other females mature/are added. Also, it's great for education opportunities that the meerkats and hyenas are right next to each other, because they are close relatives (and true, both on the "cat" side of Carnivora), so you might be able notice their face/ear shape are really similar, except hyenas are giant and crunch bones instead of scorpions I like Slash and Dash for a striped hyena pair, Dot and Hole Punch for the spotted
Please call one of the Hyaena 'Giggles'. Congratulations on your milestone to making videos full time. I love your content and I have watched your videos religiously since I found the channel.
Hey! Just wondering if you know there's one-way glass panels in build mode. I feel like adding those would be more ethical, as it allows the guests to see the animals, but not the other way around. Especially would be good for the shyer animals! Maybe you've already done this and I just missed it ^^""
Yes thanks the one way glass panels are barriers not construction pieces though I believe so I could have used these instead of null barriers but I would have been wrestling with the pathing system for longer - maybe will do this in the future ☺️
@@PawsBuild I just pulled up Planet Zoo to double check in case I was getting confused for something else, they actually do have One Way Glass Panels under the construction tab! If you search up "One Way" under the All and/or Architecture tab of construction, they have 6 different sized panels ^^ I'm not trying to be pushy or anything, just wanted to let you know because I've learned a lot about this game from your channel, so I wanted to help out a bit!!
I recently found your channel and listen to your videos at work. I love how excited you get over the animals and actually care about them vs only doing amazing builds with no care for the animals. I've been binge listening to your Ethical Zoo playlist and have taken inspiration from your zoo designs in my own Franchise zoos.
Hey Pawsbuild, have you ever considered using the *comparing mates* before you buy your animals? I use it so their offspring will have more appeal when they live in the zoo which will be good to boost your money income
You could name one of the male striped hyena "Yoshi" cus they kinda give off dinosaur-vibes thanks to their mane. I'd just find it really cute having a little dinosaur-hyena strolling around and doing fun little activities, just like the real life Yoshi ✨
Paws, great video and well done on making it full time! Just wanted to say, probably same for many of here, I wouldn’t mind more ads if that means things will be easier for you with moving onto this new career path. Specially for an hour long videos, where lots of effort has gone into creating it. Great job! Excited for new episodes x
An interesting hyena fact is that they have a very unusual walk pattern. They walk with both right legs moving forward and both left moving back at once and vice versa. Most 4 legged animals move with both front legs going in different directions and both back legs doing the opposite of the front.
Paws, i think youve been forgetting donation bins. Unless im just completely blind. Ive been loving this series! At this point, my favorite habitat is the Little Penguins. Keep up the amazing work!!
Hi Paws! Since you have gone full-time into TH-cam, I think that you could add some buildings into the habitats, or into future habitats. Like in the Manned Wolf, Capybara, and Giant Anteater enclosure. I find it really neat, and it adds realism to your zoo! ❤🐾
Binged this series and finally caught up! Can you name some sort of feline Puma? She was the sweetest and most caring kitty I’ve ever met, and I am very proud to have grown up with her.
Very awesome Paws! A good idea would be to let the video run a little longer after you say "like and subscibe", so the forgetful people (like me) can like the video, before it ends, and another starts 😅 maybe it would give you more likes? 🤷🏽♂️ You deserve a like from everyone who watches!
im just so happy everytime i see one of your videos, my life is a turmoil right now (a good one i hope) but this zoo is amazing and it brings me a lot of joy, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much Paws!
ive been binge watching this serie and the conservational zoo one, both of them in just 2 days. i think im im love in you, solely based on listening your voice for 12h straight hahahahaahahah. keep up the great work, you are amazing 😊
Hey Paws I know everyone is asking for there own animals but I think next Time you do an African exhibit could you do the classic big Mammals of Africa and you might be able to do them in the same habitat also I Imagine it would be a Huge Undertaking
You should give them more water. Hyenas love water and will play in it for hours. You should look up videos of it, it is adorable. A lot of the time it brings out so much play that hierarchy is put aside and they all just enjoy themselves.
in my game, I also like to sort by appeal for animals with way too many offspring. This usually goes along the line of kicking out the older ones, but not always.
One thing I always love is that spotted hyenas are SUPER social creatures. A single spotted hyena clan can have over 100 members! They're so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Could you possibly name one of the male striped hyenas Stripe? Doesn’t sound creative but the mohawk fur reminded me of Stripe from the 1984 film “Gremlins.” Love the videos, you’re my favourite planet zoo TH-camr
one of the striped hyebas was an outsider when you clicked on them in the lil trio, you didnt notice and then you checked on the far away one and moved on thinking the outsider was no longer an outsider
I am SO HAPPY to see planet zoo videos back:) I missed this series🥳 Paws I wonder if you thought about connecting the pavement where the hyenas exhibit ends so guests can walk OVER it and do like a full circle? 🐾
Striped Hyenas jave a limit of only one female per habitat, choose the lesser one and take her out! Also their is no female Maned Wolf currently in the habitat now that Ginger has died!
I think what you could do to improve this project and enhance the idea of continuing habitat without the animals killing themselves is to put the barriers underground or use water and stones to block their passage. It also would be nice to have a memorial plaza with kiosks, amenities, education, fountains, decorations, and plaques with all the animals.
Love this series but I personally feel like these two habitats could be much bigger! You originally wanted much mroe thsn double the necessary size :) hyenas need lots of room to roam
As a wheelchair user, you put more thought into your builds than real life 'accessible ramps'. Thank you!
