Watching the Rollercoaster that is Kirk's sanity throughout this match was quality content.
Not sure Barstool has ever produced anything as captivating as this round of scramble golf.
Just an absolute 10/10 masterpiece of drama and fun.

I’ve played golf for close to 30 years and I have never seen someone take a full cut with a putter out of the pine straw and have a divot come up like Francis. One of the more baffling club choices I have ever seen.
That blew my mind as well. I've seen a very not sober person do it for reasons I couldn't explain, but he thought it was genius in his own head. The messed up part about the guy I saw who did it was that it wasn't a lay up and he actually he rolled it up onto the front of the green from 130 yards out. You'd have thought the guy just won The US Open. Lmao!!
I think Francis chose to use the putter on that lay up because he had been skulling his irons so bad the whole match that he probably figured a topped putter from the pine straw is less of a chop at his ego than topping a 7 iron and blading it 180 yards plus. It turns out that his choice completely bsckfired on him cuz he chunked his putter. Hahahaha!! Who in the world chunks their putter? Very very poor club selection on Francis' part. He was too much in his own head.

@gabriellechasseurgagne2719 I noticed a lot of their follow throughs looked super awkward. It almost looked like they were intentionally pumping their body upwards as they made contact. It looked really uncomfortable, but it looked especially uncomfortable with that putter swing. Lol

Totally agree... These are work colleagues and friends no one plays that way. Hit your putt in and get out of the way. But it should have been stated when your playing these type of people like you said.

Only snag there being is that they’re playing for a lot of money, so there needs to be some kind of official ruling structure in place. Honestly made for better content in my opinion so Portnoy can laugh all the way to the bank regardless

Barstool is officially back. This content and the last few weeks content has been top notch.
It is an absolute disgrace for Kirk to think that they can’t finish out putting after tapping the putt in. Afterwards kirk thought he was on top of the world and Dave sat his butt down. I’ve never disliked a guy so early in my life before.

what about the fact that kirk/hank don't even finish out on 3 after the tap-in controversy. they picked their ball up themselves, thereby not recording a score on the hole so they lose to a 5 regardless. would have nullified the entire argument.

Walking on someone’s line doesn’t actually effect a golf ball’s roll unless you’re wearing metal spikes and you weigh 300+ pounds.
Kirks team didn’t finish the hole. If he was that adamant that he was right, they should’ve finished the hole so they have a score. They didn’t do that so by default they lost the hole.
Nobody plays a scramble that way, and the fact that they didn't finish the hole should mean they lose the hole anyway

It's funny how on 4 Francis says exactly why the rule is in place that caused the whole issue - it changes the way whoever is putting putts if they know they already have the next putt made. It sucks but yeah you can't tap it in before your teammate goes. Unfortunately it's a 5 on 3 for them. But also, someone pointed out that Kirk picked up his marker and I don't think they gave him the putt, so there's that too.
SHOCKED Minihane doesnt question the free club length but becomes the ultimate rules stickler during the argument. Literally no one counts that in a scramble.

Genuine question: in regards to the tap-in rule controversy, didn't the same exact scenario also occur on hole 1? I feel like that's a huge miss in the story that hasn't been addressed. It cut away, but it looked like Francis tapped in for 4 but they still took a 3 on the hole after Arian made his birdie putt

All anyone had to do was ask Kirk and Hank what score they got on hole 3. They picked up without finishing.... thereby conceding the hole no matter what score was applied to Arian and Francis. So, this match should've been halved.

He was right on that one 5 though where Francis tapped in. You can’t do that in a scramble…you can’t play two shots in a row before your partner hits, it’s basically the same as Arian ceding his turn.

How is Kirk saying “it’s good” any different than Francis tapping it in? In either scenario, Arian has a putt for par knowing they’re already in for bogey if he misses
Golf has a lot of dumb rules and that's one of them. It's not Kirk's fault Francis didn't know that.
Technically if a hole is finished out by any means then that score is recorded. So saying “that’s good” before the other person putts technically secures them a 5 as much as tapping it in does. So Kirk is right about the rule for the tap in but chooses to ignore it when someone says “that’s good”, which in my mind invalidates his reasoning. Also he was being a prick.
Every scramble I've played in they allow you to tap it in to secure a score and then your partners can still better that score if they make. I just speeds up play.

I've played in a lot of scrambles for good money and I've never seen or heard of that rule being enforced. Heck I've never even heard of the rule itself. They got a PGA tour pro on the phone and he confirmed it is a rule, but enforcing it depends on how serious of a scramble they're playing. That dude should know that if Dave is involveeld, it's a serious game. I don't see any reason for a tour pro to lie about that rule to an unexpected call so I believe him that it is a rule.
If they're going to not enforce a rule in the match or tourney, they need to say so clearly beforehand. If they don't say anything, then any rules that are pre-written should be enforced. They can change the rule after this match and before the next one starts, but they can't just change it right when the match is in it's last 3 holes to where it affects the score. That took so much focus away from something that was actually entertaining. I almost turned it off during that parr, but i fast forwarded instead.
No one likes to see grown men act like whiney babies and yell f bombs at eaxh other while insulting eaxh other and saying empty threats of stopping the tourney and walking off and never coming back, etc. Thats just sad
Minihane did this same shit at the mini-golf event they did. He blew his top off and started throwing a temper tantrum.
The only difference and this is a big one waa that at mini-golf he was on a hill in a man made cave with a waterfall surrounded by like 8 people so it was extra loud and obnoxious. At least this time he was out in the open and had an independent mic so they could lower his volume. He takes this stuff so seriously and gets all butthurt over everything.

Rules should’ve been better established but the two “highest” authorities on the issue both agreed it was a 5. Dave ultimately screwed his team by ruining Arian’s Rythm with his tantrum and lighting a fire under kirk
