Yes, I have cut my work trimming loose ends and yes you want to cry. As for sewing the loop I would put hook through the same stitch and do a slip stitch.

Can't stop making these. I put 12 trebles instead of 12 double crochet for the toe part to make it bigger and it worked fine too :)
