Leaving the black horse in served to let the black horse find a place to settle down away from all the activity. Most times horses are never given the chance to figure this out so they never learn to settle. At a clinic once, we turned all our horses loose in the arena. The clinicians goal was to let the horses find the middle of arena to rest; the others got to run around the outside, till they got smart and learned to settle in the middle.
He's been 'tight', since you took hold of the lead shank and went at him like a .......? Other people scared him you say? In the end he will be tired and to most of your viewers looking relaxed, but take heed, fatigue fades much sooner than fear.
Has that horse had a saddle on before? Or was that it's reaction to being saddled for the first time? Haha and what's with the little black horse running around the whole time? :P
Just amazed at this man. Thank you for sharing your dads early videos . Such and inspiration !

He was very hard to saddle that's why he was brought there. He had no foundation, that's why. Too bad the owners weren't there to learn.
But I learned from Pat that most horses who are cinchy/hard to saddle are bad about pulling back.
hey Jet888 and Allen when are your next clinics?

Black horse is there for horsie support. Having a fellow horse to calm and learn from.
I've never seen a horse that bad about pulling back
