Yeah which country are you from?
Jerusalem first, then left since 70A.D. when the destruction took place. Some went into Africa, the tribe of Judah went into Spain then were banished. They then went into Portugal until the dispersion which they then scattered into North Africa, West Africa, further into Europe , America, Jamaica etc. This is just a snippet of the history of the Black Sephardic Jews. They were also the pirates of the Caribbean along with the Moors , who took revenge on the Spanish ships. All Black!

Great interview. I did want to add as someone who is part Ethiopian Jew, that the symbols seen in Ethiopia are there mainly because there has been a Jewish established presence there for over 2500 years. They are still there now waiting to make Aliyah. This interview was great!!!

I did my DNA I am IGBO and have LEMBA and Ethiopian Jew DNA. Both my parents and grand parents are black Jamaicans my DNA is found in Spain and Portugal in West and East Africa, Egypt, and Yemen in the levant. There is a difference between the bloodline linage descendants of Jacob the Israelites, and those who became Jews thru religious belief which is Judaism.

My DNA also but my family still refuses to accept that we are a maternal lineage of lost Afro Jews in America. I was sent a vision when I was four and after DNA test of my then 96 year old grandma it all was proven. Our DNA also links us to the lost tribe in China and Cambodia.

My wife’s mother’s family are Jamaican Jews. Their family name is Portuando and are sefardic. A long time ago they moved there from Cuba after escaping the inquisition . Her father however was of Ashkenazi descent (Solomon). My family is Belarusian and Iranian. B’h we are Torah observant and love all our brothers
I must concur with the comments above to state the the symbolism that is used by the Rastafarians in Jamaica is originating from Ethiopia. It is held by the rastafarians that Haile Selassi is a direct decendant of Menelek who is the son of King Solomon and Queen Sheba. It is through this that the Jamaican Rastafarian uses the symbols of hebrewism.

Just to add that the Rastas that does meet for worship on Saturday in Papine Kingston Jamaica. While they celebrate Silasi they don’t worship like some Rastas. And they have stated that their beliefs is based in the Old Testament Scripture.

All Jamaicans that have ancestors who were part of the slave trade, as indicated in the bible, are Jews. As a 75 year old Jamaican, I saw my parents and grand parents practicing: the men wore beards, they were circumcised 8 days after birth, they covered their heads at all times (look at the old pictures of the slaves in Jamaica), the women were not allowed to cook for men if they were mensturating. They also had a certain diet. For example, they ate only Sea food with Scales, only meat that have Hoof and were not allowed to eat Pork. Because of slavery, we were prohibited from practicing our Culture...However, some continued to wear Dreadlocks as depicted on the walls in Egypt. We are Jamaican Jews.

I got some Jewish heritage only small but it’s present to the extent I have 3 different branches of Jewish heritage. Dna has changed my preconceived ideas of Jamaican history.
The history books we used in Jamaican schools gave no mention of the Jews assisting the British on the Penn and Venables mission that took Jamaica away from Spanish rule. The puzzle is fitting together nicely though. Thanks for the information.
Love this interview. Heard that the Andrade family which is my surname was part of the Portuguese Jews. Learning a lot
many ex-slaves took on the names of their masters both during and after slavery ended. They also simply chose surnames that they liked. Having a European surname does not necessarily mean that you are connected by blood to that family. To be sure, you need to do a DNA test.

True, but it came to Jamaica with the indentured servants from India. Amongst some of the Hindi were Sadhu Baba. They also brought ganja as well as our curry . This brother really doesn't know much about Rasta. Rasta borrows from Hinduism, Christianity and Judaism.

There are many different types of Jewish people all over the world do not look one way. I also am Jamaican my great grandmother was a jewess my grandmother gave me the history of coming from Spain we are not of African heritage do have relatives in the states that still are practicing Jews. This is tough to listen to without a voice. This guy is trying to stay careful and is not telling the entire truth. Rasta cultural stance has always been that the deported and enslaved Blacks and their decendants around the world not just Jamaica are the lost tribes of Israel. Bob Marley and his group understood that ancestrally the best way to awaken and enlighten our lost people around the world from country to country was through music. It was through song that our ancestors escaped enslavement and messaged their families. The code to the underground railroad was braided into the hair and sung from plantation to plantation. Black Jews were not solely introduced to Jamaica. Although, Jamaica was a major port for many transactions. Also any group that has a certain melanine deptness was deemed Black at the time. The Bible said YSHWH's feet were as bronze tried in the fire three times. YSHWH would have been considered Black according to the standards of comparison back then.
My maternal DNA places me into every region where a lost tribe has been discovered including from China throughout Southeast Asia like; Myammar, Indonesia, Cambodia , East Africa, Ireland, West African Igbo lost Jews, Ancient maps referred to the Tyrrhenian Sea region and ancient Isrealite lands and extensions from Egypt as North Africa. A part of history Anglo and Spanish history books leave out. So when it was said that the enslaved was from Africa they were referring the the old mapped regions of Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia and such.

Conversos were Jews who practiced their religion in the synagogues but once out in the open they were Christians. It was a survival mechanism.

Watched from Old Harbour Jamaica, very revealing. I have known our Jamaican Jews had some involvement in guiding the British here but had not idea they were behind it and it makes sense. Their is a lot of Jewish influences in Jamaican culture and their are still Jews on the island who can trace back their ancestry to the inquisition. Believe it or not Haile Selassi, I heard from another TH-cam video, was himself a Jew from the line of David thou King Solomon's relation with the Queen of Sheba and is said he is the last of the house of David to sit on a throne and Henry Kissinger was aware of this. I too understand the Bob Marley as Jewish roots, I learned this from a Jewish online magazine call Tablet Magazine some years ago. It published an article about a set of Jews who was trying to claim Bob Marley as their own as his father was a Syrian Jew plus the man how helped him come to prominence Criss Blackwell, his mother was a Spanish Jew. Also, Rastafarian is a blending of a lot of beliefs, and symbolism and philosophies. Rastafarianism adopted the ganja smoking after Indians brought it with them as part of their culture.

Norval Sinclair Marley, Bob's father was half Jewish. I'm England born of Clarendon, Jamaica parents. My mother's mother was half Jewish. In a DNA test I took, it shows as Levantine.
Henriques, They're Portuguese. Most Jews in Jamaica are Sephardi. My Mum's family are descendants of those Portuguese Jews. I took my DNA w 23&me and my Mum was correct, it showed Portuguese (Sephardi) from Madeira in my results. St. Elizabeth had a large Sephardi cemetery in Lacovia. I don't know what it looks like today.
True Rasta from Jamaica always claim that they are a part of the twelve tribes of Israel, they don't eat certain things, their food 🥑🥝 has to be fresh they are very peaceful people they keep the Sabbath , I think they are mostly vegetarian.

What is pirate?? You say 'so badass' because you don't know enough about pirates. Henry Morgan was a slave trader - as most pirates were. If he was friends with Henriques, then it means that Henriques condoned slavery. That's not at all "badass!!" You got that wrong. If a Jamaican of African descent can trace heritage to a Jewish father, that means his African mother had children by a Jewish man. That does not mean that the woman was his wife. It most likely means that she was his property. Many people of African descent in the Caribbean and Americas can trace blood lines to various European cultures. This is because the European salve owners or workers on plantations slept with the African women. That is all it means. And again, those women were not their wives, but were most likely thier property. The Jews funded the slave trade to a great extent. I don't care if this man is a Jew, but let's not fantasize about how that happened. If descendants of enslaved people accepted Christianity, then it is reasonable that some of them accepted Judaism.
The Jews are well documented in Trinidad & Tobago and also some of the other islands.

Also, some Portuguese Jews/Sherphadic Jews, came also, who began to set up shops and got into goods etc.
