    • @thejustlawofshamash
      @thejustlawofshamash 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Off the top of my head, trolls, abominations, and lox are resistant to blunt damage, but that's fairly situational. Some people like to primarily use the sword, which does, I think, have the best mix in terms of DPS, attack speed, attack range etc (dagger can out speed and DPS a sword, but I found that having to be right on top of enemies to use it put me in way too many dangerous situations) and have a mace as back up. I just use a mace as my primary and an axe as my back up, even though the axe is not a great weapon, because I need to carry one most of the time anyway.

    I find hitting the Fulings with ooze bombs is most effective, since they travel in numbers but are quick and maintain distance when needed. The poisonous gas will case a nice AOE and you can play cat and mouse with them until their health is depleted. Obviously you can say this for lots of species, but I found they're most helpful on Fulings.

      Oh yeah, any time I go out, my hotbar is ALWAYS a polearm, a bow, an axe, a shield, and a pickaxe, followed by my three stacks of food items. In combat, I'm always either using the polearm or the axe+shield, and it's pretty easy to discern why that is. Polearms are so good, especially with that extra stagger on it's special attack, you can stagger Trolls with that (a Level 4 Bronze Atgeir can potentially stagger a one star Troll, though an iron one can do the job just as well if not better). Meanwhile the axe+shield is choice for just about anything else (though I'm still going through my first play-through and I plan on possibly adding the Mace to my options, for stuff that the axe doesn't cut it against... pun not intended).

    If you want to use as few weapons as possible but still be prepared - then I recommend one-handed shield + spear. The spear is by far the most useful weapon in my opinion. The spear is cheap to build/upgrade and is effective enough against everything except from blobs, rock golems and skeletons - use a blunt one-handed for those encounters. Learn to parry because that gives you a huge damage boost! Spear has super quick attack speed but is greedy on stamina, so get good at preserving stamina during fights, don't sprint around unless you have to avoid AOE attacks. Also, carry bow and wood arrows for hunting or when you want to do damage from a distance. If you have better arrows then great, but I wouldn't grind to build better arrows than the wooden ones.
    This is just what I find to be the most effective and least grindy set of weapons to have at my disposal. I recommend trying all the weapons and experiment with them yourself. :)

      well you need a club for most things, and Frostner and Porcupine the best weapons are maces, so I just use this on everything. Many mobs are resistant to pierce, so doesnt really make sense to carry and train up multiple weapons. bow for distance, clubs for melee

  • @Rexxie44

    For the Deathsquito, my meta means to attack them is to get a atgeir and do the round attack when they come in for their bite. After you memorize the radius range of the atgeir, it's easy to know when to time it. Might take a bit of practice tho.

    • @billybadass8242
      @billybadass8242 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's far less forgiving but you can time a sword swing to kill them when they're beelining at you as well

  • @megabeefman
    @megabeefman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Fang Spear is my weapon of choice for Deathsquitoes because the first hit comes out quick, and because they fly diagonally upwards and away after you block them, the over the shoulder poke animation really comes in handy for giving you a longer window. I found the reaction windows were much tighter and I had to be very mindful of terrain when using a sword or they'd fly above the swing.
    Fang Spear also seems the obvious choice for Lox. They're weak to pierce, and it has a *far* higher DPS than bow & arrow, and no need to kite. Parry and poke is very potent. If you have decent health, stam, and armor you can risk not stopping after getting in 3 hit post parry, since the 4th hit will frequently stun him and interrupt the bite, and it'll go down in one satisfying burst attack.
    If you can parry (and you really should be learning to parry), then Iron Mace is the best vs. Stone Golems. It only takes two 3-hit parry combos and a couple more regular hits to down him with the mace. Much better damage than the pickaxe and you don't have to resort to cheesing them with the terrain either.

  • @michaelbowman6684
    @michaelbowman6684 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's very easy to cover all three physical damage types through organic play.
    Chopping down trees is time consuming, so most players will upgrade their axe when given the opportunity, giving them access to a Slashing weapon.
    Bows are useful for attacking enemies from a distance, so most players will make one for that reason, giving them a Piercing weapon.
    And finally, the first weapon that most people will use is the Club, which is a Blunt weapon. So long as they keep using maces, while also keeping on top of upgrading their axe and bow, they'll have a weapon for almost any enemy encounter in the game.

    About golems. While pickaxe does a good damage per hit, it is very slow and has a very short reach. And, since, golems does not drop any useful loot, very slow and *very* tough to kill most players will be better with just luring them in a pit and leaving them there. You probably will have a lot of holes in the ground after mining silver. Using harpoon will make things even easier, just drag them in and just go by your business. I find the best way to kill fulings is to use the frostner. Most of the time when they're slowed down you can walk up to them and kill then with the frostner without them attacking back. Their circle pattern they use to try and surround the player is also a good weakness because you can hit and freeze, lets say, three of them and just pick them off as they move at a snale's paste usually away from you to try and complete that pattern. But sometimes they'll hit you which isnt a problem if you can block or dodge them. For me they usually can only get two swings in before they try to run away whilst still being part frozen.

    My highest one hit damage was with the Dark Metal Sword, special attack, vs the new Abomination in the Swamps: 972 - how about you guys? Where are you scoring top damages? Overall and unfortunately, at Endgame, there is no weapon with a better damage distribution and attack speed than the Dark Metal Sword.

    For the Ogre you can kill it without killing the first boss, you need, a bow, and good kiting abilities, shot him in the heat every time you can while going backwards and there you go.

    Atgeir power attack for trolls, and for deathsquitos you want to spin attack right before they get on you. Hammers for Golems. Crystal axe for undead. Arrows for Drakes, Fuling, Berserkers, Lox, and any other heavy hitters. Ground pound leeches with hammer weapons.

    Skeletons are also semi weak to spirit. All undead are semi weak to spirit damage. Blob and oozer are undead and also semi weak to spirit, Fenrings are also semi weak to it. Drakes are also weak to poison.

    I usually fight Fulings with my Frostner (1h mace that does cold & spirit damage) as it slows their (attack) speed down. And the Porcupine (1h mace with blunt & piercing damage) against Loxes.

    I remember killing my first Lox by luring them into a Swamp and letting an Abomination deal with them, luckly (or sadly) a Lox is far more powerful than an Abomination, so he managed to kill at least 2 of them before dying

    Also at the very beginning when I first played valheim, I thought necks are weak to frost damage because the yellow number would pop up when I hit them with frostner. But after watching your video I realized the reason might be that they tend to stay in the water.🤣

    Actually, Fullings will take more damage from piercing and slash, may not be a weakness but I've noticed they are much more resistant to blunt than piercing and slash. A silver spear or arrows have always been most effective for me. Usually just one or two hits for a fulling with spear level 40 silver wolf tooth spear.

    Use an iron mace and iron shield against golems on mountain. You can stagger golems with the shield and kill them with the mace very quickly. About 6 or 7 hits.

    You probably don't want to slow the sea serpent down with frost arrows. You should use your harpoon and take them on land before you kill them so you get the scales for a shield.

    Subbed, but the best way to kill a deer is with a bow, hands down.
    Because trolls are weak to pierce the spear and bow are useful in addition to atgier and dagger.
