I've had two W169s and the temperature guage is actually showing you the real coolant temperature. On most cars it's "deadened". VAG group cars sit in the middle of the dial even of the temperature is fluctuating and only go higher when your getting seriously hot. I have an A150 2009 manual at the moment and urban driving the guage is 80-85 degrees. Extremely hard driving can see 90 or just slightly above
Let me save you the bother. Fabia II is a nice car I had a "3" 1.6 Tiptronic. The 1.4 3 cylinder diesels are ROUGH but are very very economical and sound good when pushing on they have lots of torque shove for urban driving but no horsepower for high-speed work, the 1.9 is slightly smoother and very torquey plus has a little more high speed performance
Ride is not so bad on 15" steels on Classic SE models, A160 Blue Efficiency has 10mm lower suspension which impacts ride quality. Elegance models have larger alloys but more sidewall and avantgarde have the harshest ride. The sports suspension option is also a disaster! Most people don't realise the W169 has passive selective damping which forms up in hard cornering. I have a Classic SE right now on 15" steelies. Ride can be a bit jarring at lower speeds and uneven surfaces. On smooth roads and motorway the W169 feels like a large saloon to drive. So with the right wheel and suspension combination I'd say it has the typical German firm/compliant type ride. The main thing is that the W169 and first generation B class have a parabolic rear axle design which is usually reserved for vehicles with leaf springs like pickups and commercial vehicles. Handling wise the W169 is a true front mid engined car, the engine is behind the front axle and lays almost flat giving a low centre of gravity. It's ESP system can only be switched off in the service menu but you loose ABS too. Speed is also limited to 70MPH or so in this mode . So not a track day car but I find I can easily out handle much larger and more capable cars
First generation fair play it's a bit cheap and flimsy and o would struggle to call it a proper Mercedes. Second generation W169 truly is a small Mercedes. Looks the way it does because of the sandwich floor design. It's front mid engined with the engine laying almost flat, drive belt and timing chain are BOTH on one side of the engine, the other side goes straight to the gearbox. In an accident the engine and transmission go out under the car rather than intrude into the passengers space. Also, A class is a tiny tiny car but with passenger space to rival AN E CLASS!! B Class has S class levels of passenger space as well. So it's looking the way it does because it's offering genuine Mercedes experience in a small urban friendly package. Nightmare to service and maintain though due to engine placement. Facelift (08 on) models are pretty damned attractive in the right colour and spec. My last was Horizonblau which was lovely, my current is Berggris which is nearly as charming
@@punio7 Really? They are actually very reliable especially the later 08 facelift car's. There are known issues with poly v belt rollers, air con condenser's etc but most "reliability" issues come down to a lack of maintenance due to the difficulty accessing the engine and many are neglected. The M266 is a SOHC 8v engine which is simple as hell and pretty bullet proof. No variable timing or anything. Pretty much the only "advanced" thing it has is a decent variable intake runner system and that's about it
Have you driven it? Do you have any idea how much work and design went into the sandwich floor cars? The sales figures would disagree with your opinion though I respect your entitled to it. Maybe at the time it was released you would have had a point but nowadays when BMW are offering FWD MPVs based on Mini chassis and Audi are offering a very expensive Skoda Fabia/VW Polo in the A1 it's perfectly reasonable
You could have it customised with the Designo studio because I guess Merc realised some rich guys with S class etc might buy one for the wife but overall no it's not. It's no more womanly than an Audi A2 or a BMW active tourer

It looks that you have problem with coolant temp. Probably termostat or coolant sensor. You have probably higher fuel
consumption for this problem..

hell no, its very hard,you literally feel 1cm of hole like its a 1 meter sinkhole. I own one and other people say the same
